Remembering Pac: His Career & Our Favorite Moments | Takedown
This episode of Takedown is almost entirely given over to Pac. Paul Fontaine runs down his top five Pac moments across a career that spanned Dragon Gate, WWE, and AEW, while Garrett Gonzales shares a story about seeing Pac live in person just recently. The guys also go back to the very beginning of their own fandom, remembering the first time they each watched him wrestle.
Along the way, Garrett and Paul work through his overall career — the high-flying independent scene run, his Adrian Neville/Neville years and Cruiserweight Championship reigns in WWE, and the AEW run that made him a two-time double champion and a fixture of Death Triangle and later the Death Riders — celebrating what made him one of the most respected in-ring workers of his generation.

00:10.127 --> 00:16.108
[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to takedown and Paul is going to be a slightly different takedown than we normally do this show.
00:17.408 --> 00:27.250
[SPEAKER_01]: We like to talk about kind of the biggest topics going on and wrestling and I think everything that we could even possibly talk about.
00:27.290 --> 00:29.370
[SPEAKER_01]: Now we may talk about some stuff later.
00:29.550 --> 00:37.212
[SPEAKER_01]: It all pales in comparison to the news that we got on Sunday evening that pack had had passed away.
00:38.392 --> 01:01.184
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll go first, but I do want to know like how you knew and and and all that I had put my phone down because my wife and I were out in we were running around and so I just my phone was not with me and I come back about an hour and a half later.
01:02.647 --> 01:12.874
[SPEAKER_01]: And of all these texts, and one of them is explaining some news that I clearly did not know about.
01:13.234 --> 01:21.380
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it was one of those things, like sometimes when someone assumes that you know about a certain conversation, they just start talking about it and you're like, huh, like, what are you talking about?
01:22.201 --> 01:24.302
[SPEAKER_01]: But it was pretty clear that someone had passed away.
01:25.303 --> 01:27.024
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I just thought,
01:28.485 --> 01:51.154
[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, did they just have a memory of Andy Williams again and so I sat there with the text and we were kind of rushing out so I just kind of looked at it, put my phone down, walked away and picked it up again and tried to kind of figure out what was going on and I replied back to that tweet something like, I've no idea what you're talking
01:57.951 --> 01:58.256
[SPEAKER_01]: and so
02:00.379 --> 02:07.364
[SPEAKER_01]: coming out of like not knowing anything to that news was almost like walking into a wall right that you didn't see her.
02:08.644 --> 02:20.352
[SPEAKER_01]: And so then I had just went into my other text and a couple of other wrestling related texts that that came through and people were talking about the news and you know, there wasn't nobody knew anything on Sunday night.
02:20.412 --> 02:22.593
[SPEAKER_01]: So some of it was like gosh, I wonder what happened.
02:23.374 --> 02:24.334
[SPEAKER_01]: And then it hit me.
02:24.354 --> 02:26.756
[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, this dude is only
02:28.697 --> 02:34.704
[SPEAKER_01]: So that was that was the hardest part for me was just like you know a lot we we've been and this is the Andy Williams thing too.
02:36.486 --> 02:46.036
[SPEAKER_01]: We used to live through a pro wrestling culture where people we had literally been watching on television.
02:47.932 --> 02:54.096
[SPEAKER_01]: A year before, sometimes days before, we're passing away regularly.
02:54.116 --> 03:01.840
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it not to say that it became, that we became numb to it, but definitely like, oh.
03:02.752 --> 03:09.876
[SPEAKER_01]: this person passed away well it kind of makes sense because they were in wrestling at this time and we know the culture in wrestling at this time.
03:11.077 --> 03:16.300
[SPEAKER_01]: And then we went a long time without seeing anything like that.
03:17.400 --> 03:27.826
[SPEAKER_01]: And so to have two of these like really close together has been a little like jarring to me like I can't think of another word that explains it other than
03:29.047 --> 03:57.504
[SPEAKER_01]: like it's it's shocking but it's also like it's like waking you up to this idea that like I mean I hope nothing's wrong and it doesn't sound like you know these are these pastings have anything to do with what those other ones did and I'm very thankful for that but it's still it kind of just makes you wonder like what happened how can somebody who's so young has a way like that so that those were my thoughts on the passing of of Pac when it when I'd heard it how did you hear the story
03:58.008 --> 04:00.831
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I was, you know, it's Sunday evening.
04:00.951 --> 04:01.932
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm sitting there.
04:01.952 --> 04:08.818
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember if I was, I would either been watching something on TV, not wrestling.
04:08.858 --> 04:16.445
[SPEAKER_00]: I know that, or I was playing video games and listening to music or podcasts.
04:18.548 --> 04:26.181
[SPEAKER_00]: And I saw a thing that was posted on our discord and it was, you know, like, what the F and this tweet.
04:26.382 --> 04:29.026
[SPEAKER_00]: And then my first reaction and my immediate response was,
04:30.367 --> 04:46.985
[SPEAKER_00]: this has to be some sort of joke right like it because this was like it maybe somebody hacked the W Twitter account or something like because it was just like so out of nowhere and literally like we'd seen them wrestle the night before and so like like how like what that you know and then
04:47.605 --> 05:10.806
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and then really, you know, pretty quickly realized, no, this is real, and you know, and I went into the F4W Slack, you know, that we're in and, you know, it's because some people there have, you know, some information and where it was getting around like, you know, that, that before posting it, AW had reached out to certain members of the media to let them know that this was coming, that it was legitimate.
05:11.346 --> 05:17.188
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, like it was real, and I was just, yeah, I was just like stunned, like, you know, what happened?
05:17.388 --> 05:22.970
[SPEAKER_00]: And then, and it's like, and then I had people texting in, like, what happened?
05:22.990 --> 05:24.911
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, because they figure, well, maybe you'll know something.
05:24.991 --> 05:25.771
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm like, you know what?
05:25.791 --> 05:27.092
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't know any more than you do.
05:27.312 --> 05:28.632
[SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, I don't want to know.
05:29.073 --> 05:31.073
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I don't really, it doesn't matter.
05:31.414 --> 05:31.834
[SPEAKER_00]: He's gone.
05:32.174 --> 05:33.514
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, that is kind of how I felt.
05:40.957 --> 05:45.979
[SPEAKER_00]: and it reminded me of, you know, there's a few, like I remember Chris Candito when he passed away.
05:46.519 --> 05:58.443
[SPEAKER_00]: He had had drug issues in the past, but he had cleaned himself up, and he was resting in TNA, and he had a, you know, that one he had an accident and he had blood caught that, you know, whatever, likes it was sudden if he could see them.
05:59.402 --> 06:15.452
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, and Eddie Grao, Brian Pillman, you know, like they were scheduled to wrestle on a paper view that night when they died, you know, both of those guys, and but those again, you know, that doesn't seem like it was what happened here, but it just brought me back.
06:15.592 --> 06:24.097
[SPEAKER_00]: And one person, he texted me, it was pretty young, and he's like, you're never going to have a more shocking, you know, thing than this, and I'm like,
06:25.683 --> 06:43.038
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to compare things, but like I've been through this, you know, and I'm glad that you haven't, you know, and I hope you don't have to go through it again, but then I remember like I remember Jay brisco and I remember where I was when we heard about that and we got you and I got notification of it.
06:43.339 --> 06:52.246
[SPEAKER_00]: I'd say like a half an hour before it became like relatively public and I remember just being stunned there like I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I heard about that one.
06:53.167 --> 07:07.677
[SPEAKER_00]: And even I was with a bunch of wrestling fans at the time, I was out of show and I couldn't say anything, you know, but I was just sitting there stunned and because I couldn't say anything until it was, you know, knowledge that or at least public.
07:08.257 --> 07:18.624
[SPEAKER_00]: And then as soon as it became public, like I was at an NXT show and they announced it on the show, yeah, um, you know, and so yeah, it was like that's that one kind of reminded me of that.
07:18.764 --> 07:20.946
[SPEAKER_00]: But again, we hadn't seen Jay and I mean,
07:22.607 --> 07:46.162
[SPEAKER_00]: you know, but, you know, it's still it was, you know, he was in his prime younger than, then Pock, but a guy who I'd watch just whole career, you know, so kind of feels like that a little bit and I know I'm a little closer to the R-wage thing than a lot of people, so for them if Pock hit them harder, hey, I get it, you know, but for me it was like, J, you know, that's J was the biggest
07:48.622 --> 08:02.935
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, um, and oh, and I mean, oh, and live on paper view, you know, like luckily we didn't see it, yeah, yeah, you know, I was thinking about this, you and I are big into.
08:04.525 --> 08:25.053
[SPEAKER_01]: I would say pop culture, but there are, there are, you know, niches of pop culture like music and movies and TV from our youth were both a big time, you know, pop culture nerds about that stuff and you know, today a little bit less I can't say that I'm on top of.
08:25.833 --> 08:28.554
[SPEAKER_01]: you know, the best television shows or the most popular television shows.
08:28.594 --> 08:29.334
[SPEAKER_01]: I am in movies.
08:29.474 --> 08:30.715
[SPEAKER_01]: I try, but it's hard.
08:31.075 --> 08:42.399
[SPEAKER_01]: And music for me is if we subtract about 15 years from our current date, that's kind of when I stopped really looking for new music.
08:42.699 --> 08:47.521
[SPEAKER_01]: So anything before that, I'm, you know, I'm still pretty, I'm still pretty close to that scene.
08:49.446 --> 08:57.109
[SPEAKER_01]: But wrestling is different because wrestling fandom is different.
08:58.549 --> 09:02.750
[SPEAKER_01]: I am a giant fan of Hugh Elis in the news.
09:03.931 --> 09:05.031
[SPEAKER_01]: I have albums.
09:05.671 --> 09:07.272
[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen them in concert twice.
09:08.332 --> 09:12.214
[SPEAKER_01]: But I actually haven't watched them on TV weekly since I was 10 years old.
09:13.254 --> 09:13.414
[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
09:13.988 --> 09:26.873
[SPEAKER_01]: So, the the pro wrestling television vehicle of you just rely on it, it becomes part of your weekly viewing.
09:27.633 --> 09:29.053
[SPEAKER_01]: You're just intertwined into it.
09:29.554 --> 09:38.617
[SPEAKER_01]: We go to conventions where we meet other people like us or we hang out with other people like us and we go to shows and we watch shows.
09:39.157 --> 10:06.736
[SPEAKER_01]: and we do Q&A's with wrestlers or we take photos, we see someone who's hanging out and we go oh and then we chop it up with them and we take a photo with them like we're so connected to wrestling in that way and I think that has to be why this stuff hits me way harder when it is a pro wrestler who has passed away then it is somebody you know who I'm also a fan of but
10:07.857 --> 10:08.617
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't see them.
10:08.797 --> 10:12.338
[SPEAKER_01]: They're not on my television screen two times a week, right?
10:12.658 --> 10:19.039
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's such an interesting thing when it comes to people passing away and progressing who we've watched.
10:19.219 --> 10:24.860
[SPEAKER_01]: And in in this case, watched 24 hours before.
10:25.320 --> 10:25.660
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
10:25.940 --> 10:26.741
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like this came out.
10:26.821 --> 10:29.601
[SPEAKER_00]: But sure I hadn't seen in a year, maybe.
10:30.101 --> 10:33.322
[SPEAKER_00]: So it felt a little more separated than this one.
10:34.217 --> 11:03.096
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, although I do get people that are still into the indie scene and and do feel that connection of Butcher and and so now I kind of more understand how they felt too weak or three weeks ago, you know, but with talk, yeah, it's like I didn't know park personally, I never met him, but I know people and talk to people regularly that did and our friends with him, so, you know, I is like literally one degree of separation and I, you know, way I feel.
11:04.308 --> 11:12.475
[SPEAKER_00]: bad that I didn't get ever made them because he sounded like a great dude, but I also am kind of glad I didn't because now I don't have that same lost, you know?
11:13.176 --> 11:17.960
[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of weird, but I have told this story before.
11:17.980 --> 11:24.066
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I told it on this show or not, but when Dynamite was here in San Jose,
11:25.653 --> 11:28.995
[SPEAKER_01]: I was at dynamite pretty much all day.
11:29.015 --> 11:31.257
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like literally from like lunchtime.
11:32.638 --> 11:34.859
[SPEAKER_01]: And it was because they were doing that.
11:35.159 --> 11:38.561
[SPEAKER_01]: Press that fake press conference with MGF in a hangman.
11:39.062 --> 11:39.242
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
11:40.258 --> 11:48.921
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm in the back and I'm, you know, I'm chatting it up with MJF and me and my buddy Ben Cruz and Denise Elcato is there.
11:48.941 --> 11:55.263
[SPEAKER_01]: So I talked to her and I'm talking to like the AAW production crew and they're all like really cool and really nice.
11:56.063 --> 11:59.004
[SPEAKER_01]: And then we go into catering.
12:00.305 --> 12:05.046
[SPEAKER_01]: The media is allowed to join catering and so when you go into catering.
12:06.887 --> 12:07.387
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like.
12:09.926 --> 12:16.290
[SPEAKER_01]: I, I wouldn't know what to compare it to, but I've heard it compared to like the circus or something, right?
12:16.330 --> 12:26.878
[SPEAKER_01]: Like you go into the back and there's, if there's a handful of us, I would say there's like, let's say 10 media members and the rest of them are wrestlers.
12:27.058 --> 12:28.799
[SPEAKER_01]: They're just casually hanging out.
12:29.739 --> 12:31.841
[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them are giant.
12:39.108 --> 12:45.211
[SPEAKER_01]: There are others, Anthony Bowens, who is a San Francisco Giants fan, just like me.
12:45.731 --> 12:50.474
[SPEAKER_01]: So I just wanted to say what's up because I've kind of talked with him a little bit on Twitter about it.
12:52.155 --> 12:58.318
[SPEAKER_01]: Max Caster, who I was a pretty big fan of when they were together.
12:59.038 --> 13:01.159
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really get to see him on there often anymore.
13:02.360 --> 13:04.281
[SPEAKER_01]: And then, pack.
13:05.001 --> 13:07.883
[SPEAKER_01]: Now, pack is not a tall man.
13:09.335 --> 13:09.955
[SPEAKER_01]: How tall are you?
13:11.076 --> 13:11.916
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, five nine.
13:12.597 --> 13:14.978
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so you and I are similar.
13:15.078 --> 13:17.579
[SPEAKER_01]: I think you're like an inch taller, so maybe I'm actually five eight.
13:17.939 --> 13:19.240
[SPEAKER_01]: I might be an inch taller than you.
13:19.260 --> 13:21.141
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm probably five nine five ten.
13:21.161 --> 13:21.661
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
13:23.022 --> 13:27.964
[SPEAKER_01]: And so when you see pack, you don't see a tall guy at all.
13:27.984 --> 13:29.805
[SPEAKER_01]: You see, he's like four.
13:30.045 --> 13:31.586
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you see like a really short guy.
13:31.606 --> 13:32.146
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
13:33.087 --> 13:34.328
[SPEAKER_01]: But this version of pack.
13:36.929 --> 13:40.050
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not joking.
13:40.310 --> 13:49.392
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm not joking that when Pack, he is so wide that I think he had to sidestepped through the door.
13:50.133 --> 13:51.233
[SPEAKER_01]: That's how wide he is.
13:51.273 --> 13:53.093
[SPEAKER_01]: He could not just walk normally.
13:53.614 --> 13:58.235
[SPEAKER_01]: He probably could make it, but it might be a little tight like that's how wide his shoulders and his chest.
13:59.135 --> 14:16.571
[SPEAKER_01]: and his entire upper body was like I've seen him wrestle before obviously and he was always shredded and ripped but that was the biggest I've ever seen him so thick and so I was like man what is this dude is like
14:17.452 --> 14:46.308
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, lifting some heavy heavy weights and strong is all hell and still the same athleticism that he's always had and I remember thinking like man, you know, he's, you know, he's he's still 10 years younger than me, but I, you know, and when that and this is just my age and if you heard rustling of his ever radio, I had mentioned watching the ladder match at all out while I was entertained.
14:47.168 --> 15:15.675
[SPEAKER_01]: and i thought it was good i was just sad because these old dudes are like like i'm watching them walk like i'm watching daks walk out to the ring and i'm like i know that walk because that is my walk and this man with these bad knees is gonna have to be jumping off of ladders and such because that is what the businesses and this is what the fans want and i was so sad and so when i see guys who are getting up there i go i just think
15:16.675 --> 15:18.716
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh gosh, I wonder how bad his joints feel.
15:18.796 --> 15:22.677
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, just to be that big, he's got to lift that amount of crazy weight.
15:22.697 --> 15:27.939
[SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, just a physical specimen.
15:28.019 --> 15:30.820
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, that's, I mean, you never see anybody like that.
15:30.880 --> 15:31.580
[SPEAKER_01]: You can walk.
15:32.380 --> 15:44.350
[SPEAKER_01]: downtown, and wherever you live, you can go to the gym, whatever gym that you are at, that you are a member of, you will never see somebody built like that dude.
15:44.470 --> 15:47.613
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing that's like, that's my everlasting memory of him.
15:47.633 --> 15:48.634
[SPEAKER_00]: Did he?
15:48.714 --> 15:53.538
[SPEAKER_00]: Was he, was he wearing like, for like a T-shirt, sweater, do you remember?
15:56.518 --> 16:00.760
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I want to believe he was wearing a tank top tank top.
16:00.820 --> 16:01.080
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
16:01.220 --> 16:01.660
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
16:01.900 --> 16:08.723
[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to believe it's because I mean if I if I was Pa, I would have never put on a shirt.
16:09.344 --> 16:12.065
[SPEAKER_00]: The closest thing I would have ever put on to a shirt would be a tank top.
16:12.445 --> 16:15.266
[SPEAKER_00]: But if I look like that, I'm never wearing a shirt.
16:15.286 --> 16:17.767
[SPEAKER_00]: And I've said that on the dynamite show before.
16:18.187 --> 16:20.789
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you know, like I don't know why that guy everywhere is a shirt.
16:21.189 --> 16:23.390
[SPEAKER_00]: And lately when he's been wrestling, he's been he's been in the
16:24.230 --> 16:24.750
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
16:24.890 --> 16:30.073
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you know, but but he had changed his physique a little bit like and and you like you said the whiteness.
16:30.734 --> 16:35.477
[SPEAKER_00]: He was always shredded and but still with some bulk, but now it's just like he's just a tank.
16:35.957 --> 16:46.023
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and so yeah, you know, what I want to do is people who are in in the chat with us hanging out if you guys and ladies.
16:47.090 --> 16:49.651
[SPEAKER_01]: have any memories that you want us to share.
16:50.191 --> 16:52.652
[SPEAKER_00]: I did top five, because we always do our top five.
16:52.672 --> 16:56.514
[SPEAKER_00]: So I did my top five, Pock, yeah, memories.
16:56.554 --> 16:57.774
[SPEAKER_00]: I guess would be the best way to put it.
16:58.115 --> 17:03.597
[SPEAKER_01]: OK. And I also have a timeline that I kind of wrote out if we want to go back through his career.
17:03.617 --> 17:05.318
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, because I'm sure I missed stuff.
17:05.798 --> 17:08.179
[SPEAKER_00]: And other people might have others.
17:08.239 --> 17:10.860
[SPEAKER_00]: But I think I did a pretty good representation of
17:11.160 --> 17:25.303
[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so if folks have thoughts and memories and they want to share them in the chat We'll put them up and we'll talk about them But yeah, why don't you go ahead and list your top five well my my number five was a match that he had It was August 13th.
17:25.323 --> 17:25.943
[SPEAKER_00]: All right, sorry.
17:26.043 --> 17:27.363
[SPEAKER_00]: August 31st.
17:28.044 --> 17:34.325
[SPEAKER_00]: If I wrote that down right 2015 on my name I raw with Seth Rollins
17:35.468 --> 17:55.281
[SPEAKER_00]: and uh... this was a world title match and it was i don't remember the exact story line going into it but it was uh... it you know is a match i think rolling was doing the he was part of the authority at the time and it was just a match that had kind of got set up for this random raw and it was
17:56.081 --> 18:02.109
[SPEAKER_00]: just a great match, like, um, I, and there were like some nearfalls.
18:02.289 --> 18:13.724
[SPEAKER_00]: I, I'm looking at it when 13 or four, I remember it going longer, but you never know, like with raw, like, you know, sometimes a 15-minute match could feel like 20, but, um, this was, uh, you know, and it was in San Jose, actually.
18:14.325 --> 18:14.765
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
18:14.785 --> 18:15.885
[SPEAKER_00]: I did not go to that raw.
18:16.185 --> 18:16.425
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
18:16.665 --> 18:16.966
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
18:17.006 --> 18:20.146
[SPEAKER_01]: But I took a break from raw from about 2012 to 2019.
18:21.346 --> 18:29.468
[SPEAKER_01]: No, to 2021 because at that point in time, raw was a three hour slog.
18:30.068 --> 18:30.248
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
18:30.408 --> 18:31.108
[SPEAKER_01]: I hated it.
18:31.248 --> 18:34.149
[SPEAKER_01]: But when I started going back in 2021, it was really fun.
18:34.209 --> 18:41.370
[SPEAKER_00]: So, well, if you if you look at the rest of this card, Dean Ambrose Randy Orton and Roman Reigns against Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Shamus,
18:41.970 --> 18:42.670
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh wow, weird.
18:43.511 --> 18:45.011
[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably a really good match though.
18:45.451 --> 18:46.632
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no rating.
18:47.032 --> 18:50.854
[SPEAKER_00]: Page and Naomi, Wade Barrett and Zach Ryder.
18:52.494 --> 18:53.815
[SPEAKER_00]: Russev and Mark Henry.
18:54.634 --> 18:55.094
[SPEAKER_00]: Yikes.
18:55.655 --> 18:56.355
[SPEAKER_00]: Get this name.
18:56.735 --> 19:00.578
[SPEAKER_00]: The submission sorority, Becky Lynch and Charlotte.
19:01.118 --> 19:01.518
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow.
19:01.638 --> 19:02.879
[SPEAKER_00]: Defeated the bellot twins.
19:03.520 --> 19:06.261
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, and then the ascension and the new day.
19:07.222 --> 19:15.127
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Biggie and Kofi defeated Los Matodores Diego and Fernando with El Torito and the
19:19.282 --> 19:21.884
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a car that that's not some car today.
19:22.164 --> 19:26.006
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know if that's the mystical version or it's probably the other version
19:28.789 --> 19:30.749
[SPEAKER_00]: It looks like it is the other one.
19:31.150 --> 19:32.150
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's the other one.
19:32.190 --> 19:34.590
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the current mystical.
19:34.630 --> 19:35.831
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's the one that was Hunico.
19:36.211 --> 19:39.051
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, and then the Seth Rollins never actually kicked off the show.
19:39.091 --> 19:43.953
[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, I just remember it being a great world title match and one that a lot of people raved about.
19:43.973 --> 19:49.414
[SPEAKER_00]: They've gave it four stars, but the cage match rating is more like a four and a half star match.
19:49.474 --> 19:55.475
[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know, sometimes they will underrate TV matches or like compared to the consensus.
19:58.816 --> 19:58.996
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
19:59.136 --> 20:01.157
[SPEAKER_01]: He was Adrian Neville, right?
20:01.358 --> 20:01.558
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
20:02.598 --> 20:05.080
[SPEAKER_01]: And then lost in drop the Adrian.
20:05.320 --> 20:05.520
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
20:05.760 --> 20:11.904
[SPEAKER_01]: Now I was thinking about this because I thought, man, I haven't heard that name Adrian Neville in quite a long time.
20:12.464 --> 20:15.566
[SPEAKER_01]: And then I thought, I guess I remember when he took that name.
20:15.626 --> 20:20.569
[SPEAKER_01]: I was like the only Neville that I had known was Aaron Neville.
20:20.749 --> 20:20.909
[SPEAKER_01]: And
20:21.269 --> 20:35.290
[SPEAKER_01]: except i think there was a Harry Potter character called neville long bottom is that correct i would have to look that up i don't know i don't know but i knew robbing him robbing devil as well he was uh... music star in the eighties
20:37.133 --> 20:38.074
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know relation.
20:38.094 --> 20:38.514
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think.
20:38.915 --> 20:42.438
[SPEAKER_00]: But I always constantly would call Adrian Neville, Erin Neville.
20:42.578 --> 20:46.342
[SPEAKER_00]: So I was kind of glad that they just called them Neville.
20:46.782 --> 20:50.706
[SPEAKER_00]: I think even in the last couple of days, I did, like, you know, just when I was talking about his career.
20:51.867 --> 20:57.173
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, nobody corrected me because everyone's kind of on their mind and their piecing cues right now online.
20:57.493 --> 20:58.774
[SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of nice actually.
20:59.495 --> 21:02.018
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you make a stupid mistake like that and nobody calls you on it.
21:02.418 --> 21:02.658
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
21:02.939 --> 21:03.179
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
21:03.939 --> 21:04.580
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah.
21:04.640 --> 21:06.002
[SPEAKER_00]: So that that was my number five.
21:07.763 --> 21:11.467
[SPEAKER_00]: And then my number four was May 18th, 2019.
21:11.527 --> 21:19.195
[SPEAKER_00]: Now I never actually saw this match, but it was actually technically the first ever AW match.
21:20.527 --> 21:22.768
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, it was before double or nothing.
21:23.248 --> 21:23.888
[SPEAKER_00]: I remember that.
21:24.008 --> 21:24.228
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
21:24.308 --> 21:32.629
[SPEAKER_00]: It was Hangman and Pock and it was originally scheduled for double or nothing, but what wasn't it on it was it on the like a YouTube show or something like it was on YouTube.
21:32.850 --> 21:33.190
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
21:33.310 --> 21:33.510
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
21:33.550 --> 21:33.710
[SPEAKER_00]: They,
21:45.132 --> 22:10.243
[SPEAKER_00]: it's a Wrestle Gate Lions spirit was the name of the show and it's available on YouTube right now and it hangman won by disqualification and the reason at the time now there's a little bit of conjecture about this and this actually came up on on next today but the reason was that they did not want Pock losing because he was contracted to Dragon Gate and he was a champion
22:10.943 --> 22:18.629
[SPEAKER_00]: And so dragon gate didn't want him losing and okay, now you didn't hear David David Bryan from last night Right, no, did they talk about this?
22:18.930 --> 22:33.481
[SPEAKER_01]: Dave said He thought he thought it was packs call to not lose because he didn't want to lose as the dragon gate champion I wrote I read the observer just in the last couple days that was around this time And that's what he said at the time as well.
22:33.902 --> 22:37.424
[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm was that it was pox call, but it was also Tony felt the same way
22:38.305 --> 22:41.127
[SPEAKER_00]: Tony, you know, because they wanted to work with Dragon Gate.
22:41.187 --> 22:43.428
[SPEAKER_00]: And so they were trying to respect that working relationship.
22:43.908 --> 22:49.391
[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't think it would be a big deal to have him lose the hangman, but they did.
22:49.431 --> 22:53.053
[SPEAKER_00]: So he ended up losing by DQ on the on the England show.
22:53.493 --> 23:00.737
[SPEAKER_00]: But then there were also rumblings at the time that have come up again was that WWE was kind of screwed around with his visa.
23:01.217 --> 23:16.135
[SPEAKER_00]: because he had a working visa with WWE and then when he got his release, which he had asked for, he was still in the US under that visa, so technically probably he couldn't even work that show anyways, because he didn't have a visa.
23:17.216 --> 23:23.664
[SPEAKER_00]: And, and he's had, on and getting off again, these issues over the years with a W, but a lot of that's not his fault.
23:23.724 --> 23:30.152
[SPEAKER_00]: It's, you know, due to the current administration and I saw the source of that story.
23:30.172 --> 23:30.833
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
23:31.433 --> 23:34.757
[SPEAKER_01]: And the source of that story makes me want to wait.
23:37.080 --> 23:37.741
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
23:37.881 --> 23:46.230
[SPEAKER_00]: No, but I do remember hearing those rumors at the time because even when I was recalling this, I put it in the discord and other people remembered it as well.
23:46.650 --> 23:49.133
[SPEAKER_00]: So it wasn't like it was out there.
23:49.992 --> 23:54.154
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I don't think Dave ever reported, and that's why I went back to the observer to see what he said about it.
23:54.594 --> 24:04.598
[SPEAKER_00]: And he said it was strictly creative, um, you know, of why, but he didn't actually appear in a W until, um, I think it was into the dynamite run.
24:04.618 --> 24:06.439
[SPEAKER_00]: It was like the second or third episode of dynamite.
24:06.479 --> 24:10.100
[SPEAKER_00]: I think, um, and then someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
24:10.140 --> 24:14.962
[SPEAKER_00]: He may have appeared on one of those, uh, BR live shows, but I think it was dynamite.
24:16.323 --> 24:30.374
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, but it was, yeah, so the fact is he can say, and I saw the picture he was at the first ever, the groundbreaking for the performance center, and he was also at the introductory A, W press comments.
24:31.333 --> 24:36.818
[SPEAKER_00]: wasn't that it was that AEW press conference like outside of a restaurant or something something like that.
24:37.018 --> 24:40.161
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you saw the AEW logo in the background, but he was there.
24:40.662 --> 24:46.147
[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, it literally you can't tell the story of North America professional wrestling over the last 15 years.
24:46.467 --> 24:47.488
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, without him.
24:49.445 --> 24:49.705
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
24:50.105 --> 24:50.305
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
24:50.705 --> 24:59.048
[SPEAKER_01]: So Curry had said the first time he ever saw Pock Russell was at all out 2019.
24:59.328 --> 25:04.930
[SPEAKER_01]: He was he wasn't he a sub for Moxley in that match.
25:05.430 --> 25:07.991
[SPEAKER_01]: I think so because Moxley's hurt or something.
25:08.031 --> 25:08.271
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
25:08.511 --> 25:08.731
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
25:09.031 --> 25:09.751
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
25:09.771 --> 25:10.051
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
25:10.151 --> 25:11.672
[SPEAKER_00]: And it was originally going to be.
25:11.852 --> 25:13.232
[SPEAKER_00]: And again, I think it was because
25:15.453 --> 25:24.400
[SPEAKER_00]: When people were complaining that the elite was losing too much and when he lost up when he lost a pocket was like What are you doing and then a couple weeks later?
25:25.681 --> 25:43.716
[SPEAKER_00]: The youngbots go ahead and lose to private party And but it was Tony was trying to establish and pop was gonna be a big deal like I mean he was Again, he was in the first match with hangman like and hangman was the first challenger to the world title You know like he was one of their top guys right from the start
25:44.576 --> 25:53.367
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and you know, and again, he moved a little bit down the card, but it means always been right up there as one of their top guys for the last seven years.
25:54.667 --> 25:55.408
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
25:55.868 --> 25:57.549
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, what's the next on your list?
25:57.730 --> 26:03.975
[SPEAKER_00]: So there's December 11th, 2014 with Sami Zane in NXT.
26:04.175 --> 26:05.116
[SPEAKER_00]: NXT takeover.
26:05.516 --> 26:07.077
[SPEAKER_00]: That was where Sami won the title.
26:07.297 --> 26:08.498
[SPEAKER_00]: It was after a long chase.
26:09.219 --> 26:16.285
[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, it was more like, it was more about the match itself because after the match was when Kevin Owens attacked Sami Zane and all that.
26:16.325 --> 26:19.207
[SPEAKER_00]: But they had, I mean, that was a great match.
26:19.327 --> 26:19.948
[SPEAKER_00]: I remember that.
26:20.188 --> 26:21.970
[SPEAKER_00]: One of the best matches in NXT history.
26:23.551 --> 26:36.283
[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, at the time, 4 and 3 quarter stars from Dave, 9.4 rating on on cage match, which is there's a lot of five star matches that don't have a rating that high.
26:36.803 --> 26:41.748
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, like that is literally one of the best matches of probably of that decade.
26:42.428 --> 26:45.811
[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, Kirk Curry hits just don't ban him like you did last week.
26:45.831 --> 26:46.372
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I won't.
26:46.572 --> 26:48.594
[SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, Curry had my public apologies.
26:48.634 --> 26:51.837
[SPEAKER_00]: You didn't hear it, but I apologize.
26:51.917 --> 26:56.922
[SPEAKER_00]: There was an idiot in our chat and I was trying to ban him and I accidentally kicked yours.
26:56.942 --> 26:58.423
[SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't figure out to get you back.
26:58.463 --> 26:59.004
[SPEAKER_00]: Don't worry.
26:59.284 --> 27:02.647
[SPEAKER_00]: I had him, uh, I think I had him back within a couple hours.
27:02.687 --> 27:08.649
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so no, I and I appreciate you, you know, and we missed you in the chat that week, but that was totally my fault.
27:09.129 --> 27:24.553
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it was, you know, great match and you know, and the funny thing is is I was saying about this today, he was also, I don't know if he is the first ever tag team champion, but he was one of the early tag team champions in NXT with Corey Gray's Corey Gray's a level and I have a note, I've a note here.
27:24.973 --> 27:25.173
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
27:27.337 --> 27:44.177
[SPEAKER_01]: now this is internet research so i just want people to be aware of that uh i have February 2013 wins the inaugural NXT championship tag team championship with Oliver Gray who's Oliver Gray?
27:46.500 --> 27:59.824
[SPEAKER_01]: He was Neville's partner and then, I don't know, and then I, and then I have your note, yeah, 2013 in June, where he won the tag straps again with Corey Graves.
28:00.904 --> 28:05.986
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, and I don't know if he, if they lost him in one of them, or if he was like a substitute partner.
28:07.106 --> 28:08.287
[SPEAKER_00]: Joel Redmond.
28:08.527 --> 28:09.407
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I see that.
28:09.967 --> 28:11.928
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I remember all of her
28:13.495 --> 28:14.076
[SPEAKER_00]: barely.
28:15.277 --> 28:17.259
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, I would assume they came up together.
28:17.319 --> 28:18.860
[SPEAKER_00]: They're almost same age.
28:19.801 --> 28:21.483
[SPEAKER_00]: They both came from the UK Indies.
28:23.344 --> 28:27.108
[SPEAKER_00]: So by the way, I tried to figure out where the Neville came from.
28:30.969 --> 28:32.870
[SPEAKER_01]: again, internet research.
28:34.050 --> 28:44.693
[SPEAKER_01]: It says he chose it as a nod to Neville staple, a singer of a British scab and called the specials who he was a fan of.
28:47.194 --> 28:51.975
[SPEAKER_00]: So it looks like he was actually replaced by bow Dallas.
28:53.261 --> 29:09.137
[SPEAKER_00]: And so this is like this tweet that I made that I talked about actually was probably related to this because I had a tweet that's just gone like ridiculously viral, but it has a graphic of Bow Dallas and Adrian Neville for the NXT tag team championship against the Wyatt family.
29:09.698 --> 29:16.184
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think the Wyatt family won the belts in that match and then went on to lose them to Corey Graves and Aaron Neville.
29:17.240 --> 29:18.740
[SPEAKER_00]: I think I believe that's what happened.
29:20.080 --> 29:26.722
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, and of course in this graphic, it's got five people and three of them aren't along or with us.
29:26.922 --> 29:31.082
[SPEAKER_00]: Air and Neville, Brody Lee, you know, Luke Harper at the time, and Bray Wyatt.
29:32.543 --> 29:36.623
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, that was 2014, I guess, 12 years ago.
29:37.003 --> 29:44.845
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, Joel Reben, yeah, just, you know, footnote in WWE NXT history, but I'd imagine,
29:47.224 --> 29:49.465
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
29:49.505 --> 29:49.745
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
29:49.805 --> 29:50.506
[SPEAKER_00]: So that was yeah.
29:50.526 --> 29:51.306
[SPEAKER_00]: That was number three.
29:52.046 --> 30:02.672
[SPEAKER_00]: Number two, John brought up Kenny Omega and and and Pock and I was thinking about going with that match because that was memorable, especially because Pock won, but I actually went with
30:03.593 --> 30:06.437
[SPEAKER_00]: the rematch, which is February 26, 2020.
30:06.598 --> 30:11.925
[SPEAKER_00]: So literally right before the pandemic, or I mean, while the pandemic had really started already, but we didn't know about it was going to be.
30:13.247 --> 30:15.290
[SPEAKER_00]: And they had a Iron Man match on Dynamite.
30:15.310 --> 30:16.252
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you remember this.
30:16.272 --> 30:18.074
[SPEAKER_00]: Like 30 minute Iron Man match.
30:19.279 --> 30:25.648
[SPEAKER_00]: four and three quarter stars from day, which probably is literally at the time one of the best TV matches of all time.
30:25.668 --> 30:32.578
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, we've had several better since then, but this is like probably one of the best matches and died of my history up until this point.
30:33.339 --> 30:34.881
[SPEAKER_00]: And can you make a one?
30:35.782 --> 30:37.183
[SPEAKER_00]: actually went over 30 minutes.
30:38.084 --> 30:40.586
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm sure Dave, you know, stopwatch.
30:40.746 --> 30:45.629
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, like 30 minutes and 26 seconds, but and let's say it was over time.
30:45.649 --> 30:46.029
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
30:46.049 --> 30:53.775
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I don't specifically remember, but it would, I do remember being an incredible match and, and then, you know, this, I think it ended up setting up,
30:54.575 --> 30:58.698
[SPEAKER_00]: But you know, Omega, I think was going to get a world title match out of this, but then, you know, the pandemic and everything.
30:59.078 --> 31:00.099
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if it ever happened.
31:00.599 --> 31:11.827
[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it was just an incredible match on dying to my kind of established, you know, even though he lost, it, you know, it did establish him at that level and also.
31:13.449 --> 31:17.651
[SPEAKER_00]: My number one was three days later at Revolution.
31:18.692 --> 31:23.214
[SPEAKER_00]: And it was, and I'm sure this is gonna be a lot of people's favorite memory of Pock.
31:23.714 --> 31:25.975
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a match you had at Revolution with Orange Cassidy.
31:26.875 --> 31:28.776
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, that's what Curry was just saying.
31:28.796 --> 31:30.757
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I showed that match to somebody.
31:30.857 --> 31:32.658
[SPEAKER_00]: And this is a match you showed to a non-fan.
31:33.379 --> 31:37.901
[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you wanna show a non-fan, what professional wrestling is, you showed them this match.
31:39.168 --> 32:03.724
[SPEAKER_00]: Orange Cassidy and Pock and I say this as, you know, like, I mean, I'm a big WWE fan and I know I like New Japan a lot and but if I was going to show somebody and, you know, and there's a looter go out there and Dave always talks about looter and I can't argue with him, you know, I'm not as big as seeing all guys he is, but I, I challenge you show them Pock and Orange Cassidy this gigantic little man.
32:04.364 --> 32:17.795
[SPEAKER_00]: who is as serious as the day is long and built like jack to the guilds against this slacker in jeans and sunglasses who doesn't care and watch them have magic.
32:18.963 --> 32:21.685
[SPEAKER_00]: And it was unbelievable.
32:22.085 --> 32:25.888
[SPEAKER_00]: And I remember just he did so much to elevate Orange Cassidy on that night.
32:26.468 --> 32:33.312
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and everything that had led to that, you know, beating Kenny Omega, losing to Kenny in an Iron Man match was the best match I made history.
32:33.352 --> 32:35.974
[SPEAKER_00]: And then going on to have this match with Orange Cassidy.
32:37.475 --> 32:39.536
[SPEAKER_00]: I just, I, it was memorable.
32:39.576 --> 32:45.540
[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, it's like, it is that to this day, one of the most viewed matches on YouTube for a WWE,
32:47.922 --> 32:52.929
[SPEAKER_00]: Like I said, people will show this match to their friends, you know, and yeah, it was awesome.
32:53.609 --> 33:01.599
[SPEAKER_01]: I was trying to figure out when the first time I would watch him wrestle was.
33:02.060 --> 33:19.027
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a person, I'm a
33:20.584 --> 33:34.570
[SPEAKER_01]: So the story of that show is, we were in Redwood City, which is about, I would say 25 minutes outside of San Jose, something like that, and there was an ROH show.
33:49.897 --> 33:56.080
[SPEAKER_01]: This was at like a center in sports complex or something.
33:56.100 --> 33:59.762
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not like it was a arena of any kind.
33:59.782 --> 34:00.623
[SPEAKER_01]: This our way to show.
34:01.823 --> 34:08.167
[SPEAKER_01]: The main thing I remember from that show is, you know, run to the bathroom in between matches.
34:09.529 --> 34:36.001
[SPEAKER_01]: and who's taken a whiz right next to me in his costume is none other than jewish and lager i'm like what you can't be going into this bathroom and you got to have like your own special bathroom dude you're you're you're not I shouldn't be peeing in the same place that you are um but so okay so that show ends and we all have tickets to the NXT show which isn't at sounds a state at their event center which I still think AEW needs to run because that's a
34:40.012 --> 34:55.811
[SPEAKER_01]: And so we're just like break and speed limits driving 101 South to get to 280 South probably to get to San Jose and we I think we missed probably the first handful of matches.
34:57.153 --> 35:13.371
[SPEAKER_01]: But of course the match that everyone remembers is the Sasha and Charlotte match and I was like You know what I think Neville was actually in the main event on that show in the main event Was Finn Baller against Adrian Neville and Finn Baller one
35:14.092 --> 35:25.216
[SPEAKER_01]: And my memory of the show, which kind of tells you when sometimes legend takes over, my memory was that Sasha and Charlotte made a vented, but that was not the case.
35:25.276 --> 35:30.238
[SPEAKER_01]: According to CageMatch, Finn Baller and Adrian Neville was actually the main event.
35:30.298 --> 35:35.740
[SPEAKER_01]: And that was three and a half stars from Dave, he gave Sasha and Charlotte four stars.
35:36.540 --> 35:48.315
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, out of in the first time I ever saw him live, I never saw that show, so I, you know, there's a, there's YouTube videos of it on WWE's vault, I think they have footage of that show.
35:49.089 --> 36:02.921
[SPEAKER_00]: I, for me, I believe it might have been double or nothing, 2022, although I'm just double checking to see if he was on that dynamite that I went to in Vegas.
36:03.001 --> 36:03.721
[SPEAKER_00]: He was not.
36:03.842 --> 36:10.527
[SPEAKER_00]: So it would have been double or nothing, 2022, show we were out together, where he was in a
36:16.432 --> 36:23.275
[SPEAKER_00]: It was House of Black against Pock, Penta, and Ray Phoenix, death triangle, not a title match.
36:23.295 --> 36:34.199
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they had trius titles yet, or if they weren't the champions, but yeah, that would have been the first time because 2016, when I went to WrestleMania, he was out injured.
36:34.259 --> 36:38.600
[SPEAKER_01]: It looks like I just looked it up and he was out from March until July of that year.
36:38.961 --> 36:40.041
[SPEAKER_01]: So he wasn't on, Mania.
36:40.801 --> 36:46.526
[SPEAKER_00]: And that would have been the only time, because they didn't come here very much WWE.
36:47.307 --> 36:50.309
[SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't go to house shows, there was no TV tapings.
36:50.429 --> 36:53.031
[SPEAKER_00]: And then the first, double or nothing, he wasn't on, right?
36:53.091 --> 36:53.912
[SPEAKER_00]: The first double or nothing.
36:54.452 --> 36:55.913
[SPEAKER_00]: For the reasons we talked about.
36:56.174 --> 36:57.375
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's the first day of the show.
36:57.395 --> 37:01.798
[SPEAKER_00]: I went to, and the second day of the show I went to was 2022, because 2020 was a pandemic.
37:01.898 --> 37:04.260
[SPEAKER_00]: And they did it on a closed set.
37:04.280 --> 37:06.282
[SPEAKER_00]: 21, I think they did it in Jacksonville.
37:06.742 --> 37:08.824
[SPEAKER_00]: That was like one of the first ones with a full crowd.
37:09.745 --> 37:14.747
[SPEAKER_00]: um and uh and then 22 they went back to Vegas and that's when we went so yeah.
37:16.070 --> 37:35.978
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, I wanted to just to click through a couple of other things that, you know, probably people remember or maybe they don't and I saw a I think it was an Instagram post from Instagram or Twitter from my friend Marcus Mack, who is the promoter of all pro wrestling out here in the Bay Area.
37:36.018 --> 37:41.761
[SPEAKER_01]: They have not run a show and forever and I don't know that they will again, but he was kind of the guy behind that
37:42.701 --> 37:56.733
[SPEAKER_01]: And he had a video of him, which, as far as I can tell, it would have been somewhere in the late 2000s, where Pack used a jungle character.
37:57.593 --> 37:59.555
[SPEAKER_01]: And his character's name was Jungle Pack.
38:00.456 --> 38:05.700
[SPEAKER_01]: So Mark, Mark has shared this video of him, I think he was ringing out, actually.
38:05.720 --> 38:07.702
[SPEAKER_01]: And so Pack is like mess with him or something.
38:08.262 --> 38:13.289
[SPEAKER_01]: And Marcus believes that this may have been an inspiration for Jungle Boy.
38:13.610 --> 38:15.713
[SPEAKER_01]: Like that version of the Pat character.
38:15.813 --> 38:17.355
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that to be true or not.
38:17.375 --> 38:18.176
[SPEAKER_01]: That's just what he said.
38:18.216 --> 38:23.143
[SPEAKER_01]: He said he thought maybe that that was an in influence, you know, a fort for the Jungle Boy character.
38:24.424 --> 38:35.270
[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, giant star in Dragon Gate, and unfortunately for me, like I wasn't really watching a lot of those shows, I don't know how much you caught of none of it.
38:35.410 --> 38:37.811
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the first time I ever saw him was in NXT.
38:40.089 --> 38:51.473
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so, you know, that is, you know, for wrestling historians, I'm sure those dragon gate tapes are going to be studied a little bit more.
38:51.933 --> 38:53.513
[SPEAKER_01]: If they're out there, I'm sure there's some stuff.
38:53.553 --> 38:57.955
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, they're on YouTube and they have a service to with all their old shows on it.
38:58.875 --> 39:00.856
[SPEAKER_01]: So I remember when he comes to NXT,
39:02.328 --> 39:08.372
[SPEAKER_01]: And I will say that I was never a big Indies guy.
39:08.492 --> 39:15.936
[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't even really a tape trader when I was growing up because my kids were born when I was very young.
39:16.096 --> 39:23.320
[SPEAKER_01]: So by the time I was 23, like I was watching WWE and that's it.
39:23.340 --> 39:24.721
[SPEAKER_01]: That's really all I had time for.
39:25.761 --> 39:43.875
[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember, you know, I loved Brian Danielson, so if there was an ROH match that was in the observer, I, you know, I'd spend the money to get the DVD, they'll back then it's like, you know, by the time you get it, it's like months after the matches has has been had and you've already read about it.
39:44.916 --> 39:45.897
[SPEAKER_01]: same with Samoa Joe.
39:46.597 --> 39:47.838
[SPEAKER_01]: I did that with Joe as well.
39:48.738 --> 39:53.320
[SPEAKER_01]: But outside of that, like, I never really checked out any of these other places.
39:53.620 --> 40:02.805
[SPEAKER_01]: So I, like, I knew who Pac was because I read the observer, but I never really seen him before he came to aid to NXT.
40:03.345 --> 40:04.846
[SPEAKER_01]: So when he shows up at NXT,
40:06.547 --> 40:14.135
[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of like the link to me to go, this is kind of cool because
40:15.728 --> 40:19.870
[SPEAKER_01]: WWE has been so steadfast in a specific mentality.
40:20.510 --> 40:24.872
[SPEAKER_01]: Now people like CM Punk actually make it through, right?
40:25.012 --> 40:26.773
[SPEAKER_01]: Even though all odds are against him.
40:27.273 --> 40:29.094
[SPEAKER_01]: We mentioned Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
40:29.114 --> 40:32.755
[SPEAKER_01]: They're kind of in that same time frame as Pac.
40:33.876 --> 40:37.137
[SPEAKER_01]: And I saw him and I was like, okay.
40:39.213 --> 40:47.701
[SPEAKER_01]: is WWE changing things up a little bit because this guy, the way he wrestles, it doesn't really exist in the same way.
40:48.622 --> 40:52.546
[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe NXT can actually be something very unique and very interesting.
40:53.467 --> 40:58.631
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what he presented to me because he was, was he the first champion?
40:59.793 --> 41:02.976
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, no, I think the first challenge was bow Dallas bow Dallas was.
41:03.036 --> 41:07.680
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, but he was like he was one of the Rocks don't long as he was in there too.
41:07.720 --> 41:09.482
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, one of the longer champions.
41:09.622 --> 41:11.124
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and in the early days.
41:11.164 --> 41:12.325
[SPEAKER_01]: I think Finn baller may be.
41:12.605 --> 41:13.867
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, to help.
41:13.907 --> 41:17.070
[SPEAKER_01]: He held it for a while because Sammy had that long chase.
41:18.923 --> 41:30.790
[SPEAKER_01]: So, I just remember thinking like, hey, if this works, like if he works, he is going to be such a pioneer for in era.
41:31.110 --> 41:38.955
[SPEAKER_01]: And now, I think people would say he was fantastic for NXT and the second he got to Raw.
41:39.895 --> 41:56.607
[SPEAKER_01]: there was a ceiling now in some cases the ceiling wasn't super duper low but as time wore on then it became the cruiser weight stuff and you know he had a ceiling at that point I think Vince looked at his height
41:57.387 --> 42:01.072
[SPEAKER_00]: and his accent as severe negatives.
42:01.612 --> 42:02.934
[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, would have loved the body.
42:04.456 --> 42:09.802
[SPEAKER_00]: But it was just, yeah, that ceiling was way lower than it should have been.
42:10.203 --> 42:16.230
[SPEAKER_00]: In NXT, I don't think Triple H looked at those things as negatively as Vince did on the main roster.
42:17.281 --> 42:20.762
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and think about how NXT was shot, which made it so fun.
42:21.583 --> 42:27.545
[SPEAKER_00]: And the other people in there, I mean, really NXT was ROH with a bigger budget, you know.
42:27.685 --> 42:34.168
[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, and you know, trying to prepare these guys, I had no chance on the main roster to go to the main roster.
42:35.088 --> 42:57.873
[SPEAKER_00]: in a lot of cases like when you look at that you know the glorious of NXT especially in hindsight and thinking about it it's like there's no way any of those dudes ever had a chance but at least a W came around and they got a chance there and really like the current AW looks a hell a lot more like the black and gold NXT than current WWE does you know um and and and
42:59.843 --> 43:19.878
[SPEAKER_01]: And so he leaves WWE and they I sim like they would do to many a talent so he's just stuck and goes back dragging it and when he was signed by AEW and they did the match that you talked about I thought it was so unique because it was a lean into
43:22.072 --> 43:43.710
[SPEAKER_01]: wrestling cannon that was not just about your company yes and i thought that was so cool now eight of you does not go to the indies and and you know that some some of their talent does but they don't do that really no i mean the marked avis will defend the national title on indies and and rickshaded that before him
43:44.730 --> 43:50.735
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and uh, occasionally you'll get women, uh, you know, the women will, we'll defend their titles on the industry.
43:50.755 --> 43:56.939
[SPEAKER_01]: I guess I guess the start-up titles are actually a in sort of this AEW universe canon.
43:56.979 --> 44:00.862
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but, you know, see them all, you know, like, no, but that's not indie.
44:01.002 --> 44:04.145
[SPEAKER_01]: That is like that, that, that, those are partnerships with track.
44:04.265 --> 44:05.766
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which is, it works.
44:05.786 --> 44:07.027
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's nice to see.
44:07.427 --> 44:11.450
[SPEAKER_01]: But I just thought leaning into the indie and making those folks,
44:12.824 --> 44:25.655
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure the exposure that they would get just because one, you know, just because oh, this is part of A, to be a cannon, like that was probably their biggest exposure and fantastic.
44:25.775 --> 44:27.196
[SPEAKER_00]: I was not supposed to have a champion.
44:27.236 --> 44:28.257
[SPEAKER_00]: He was doing that a little bit.
44:28.277 --> 44:34.362
[SPEAKER_00]: I think did he go and he wrestled Jordan Oliver on an indie and then they ended up signing Jordan Oliver right after that match.
44:34.603 --> 44:35.003
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah.
44:35.203 --> 44:55.630
[SPEAKER_00]: you know a little more he said but yeah it's nice that Tony Khan is more open to that I think like it just it just makes it unique yeah I guess I think when he like that's probably his idea that he really wants to do that more but then probably realize the logistics of trying to run a weekly wrestling television show with two shows a week and then trying to coordinate with indices is pretty hard
44:56.890 --> 45:15.552
[SPEAKER_01]: And then I think for fans of pack, who were like, okay, Neville in NXT was solid and then in WWE maybe not as much, but then he had a chance to work at AEW and kind of,
45:16.480 --> 45:20.101
[SPEAKER_01]: prove to WWE that hey, you know, you guys kind of miss the boat.
45:20.481 --> 45:32.704
[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not saying that pack was the biggest superstar or the most popular wrestler, but they allowed him to go and he had really good matches.
45:33.124 --> 45:40.986
[SPEAKER_01]: He did all of his stuff that, you know, he could only probably do a little bit of or maybe half of it in WWE.
45:42.006 --> 45:45.647
[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, what a what a nice run that he had in,
45:46.908 --> 46:05.006
[SPEAKER_01]: had enough passed away I'm sure he you know he's got many years he had many years ahead of him uh... which is also part of the sadness because them you know at even at forty we see it in all of wrestling forties not even old eighty board now i mean at least at least five years but easily ten
46:05.947 --> 46:13.972
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and the death writers, I mean, from all, from everything you hear from John Moxley, there's no plans to end that thing anytime soon.
46:14.913 --> 46:28.762
[SPEAKER_00]: And those guys and girls, like they are legit, like partners, like in life, like they, you know, they do, they train together, they hang out together, you know, I can't imagine how hard it is for them.
46:29.262 --> 46:42.033
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they say there's the family you're born into and then there's the family you choose and that, you know, to them is I'm sure we're going to get that line tomorrow on the tribute show and and it's not a line.
46:42.093 --> 46:53.302
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's it's legit and from everything I've heard from people that, you know, again, that I said that I know that know him, you know, it's got to be hitting them hard that they'll do the members of the death writers.
46:54.723 --> 47:04.247
[SPEAKER_01]: So Kerri had what wants to know if you feel that his injuries and the visa issues hurt his momentum to be in the main event in AW.
47:06.267 --> 47:14.270
[SPEAKER_01]: I, um, injuries are just a part of that game in, um, having the depth of the roster that they do.
47:14.951 --> 47:18.612
[SPEAKER_01]: It's almost like, you know, we always talk about why does Tony have such a big roster.
47:26.518 --> 47:49.873
[SPEAKER_01]: I think early on, if you're talking about like the first year of dynamite, he was a much bigger fish in a smaller pond, but as AEW got more successful, and of course then you have the injuries and then you have the pandemic and then you have the visa stuff, of course that's not going to help.
47:50.653 --> 48:02.195
[SPEAKER_01]: But as the roster grows, and I know AEW is much better than WWE about this, but you are going to get put in kind of your program, right?
48:02.215 --> 48:06.596
[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to put in your whether it's the midcard or the upper middle card.
48:07.116 --> 48:16.518
[SPEAKER_01]: Once they grew that roster and guys who were younger, kind of elevated, you know, he, I don't think he was built or not not built because I think he
48:20.371 --> 48:20.675
[SPEAKER_01]: Um...
48:22.082 --> 48:26.225
[SPEAKER_01]: place was going to be as the top guy in that company.
48:27.326 --> 48:28.547
[SPEAKER_01]: The talking, right?
48:28.587 --> 48:44.621
[SPEAKER_01]: The talking thing was always a part of it and I actually like his promos because they're very serious and I like his stature because he's very serious and he means business and he's not goofing off and he's not doing comedy.
48:45.201 --> 48:48.804
[SPEAKER_01]: So I like that about him but it limits him.
48:49.745 --> 48:53.228
[SPEAKER_01]: as an overall top guy I think because of that.
48:53.969 --> 49:03.597
[SPEAKER_00]: I think part of the issue might have been like I'm just looking back at his history and there was an eight-month period in 2020 when he was gone.
49:04.118 --> 49:08.381
[SPEAKER_00]: Now I don't know if that was injury or if that was COVID.
49:08.782 --> 49:13.406
[SPEAKER_00]: I suspect it might have been COVID like he might have been stuck in England and not able to get here.
49:14.326 --> 49:18.907
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and if that's the case, I mean, yeah, I mean, that's going to severely disrupt his momentum.
49:19.708 --> 49:24.609
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but I mean, I think Tony always tried to keep him in that mix with the top guys.
49:25.089 --> 49:29.110
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, being part of the death triangle meant, you know, he was always fudging with the elite.
49:29.910 --> 49:37.552
[SPEAKER_00]: He was always in like world title mat, you know, eliminators and matches and, you know, he had several world title shots.
49:37.592 --> 49:39.073
[SPEAKER_00]: So he was always the guy.
49:40.053 --> 50:00.378
[SPEAKER_00]: you know he's kind of the guy that you beat to get to the guy and it wasn't he the first all Atlantic champion he was and I used to call it Pock's wacky title on the dynamite show and then the all Atlantic turned into the international international yeah I was almost wondering if they could rename that title like
50:01.218 --> 50:07.324
[SPEAKER_00]: the Pacific all-Atlantic, no, PAC, Pock, and it could forever be the Pock title.
50:07.884 --> 50:08.945
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they would do that.
50:08.965 --> 50:11.567
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know if it would be a good idea, but it would be cool.
50:11.988 --> 50:21.816
[SPEAKER_00]: And I was even thinking, you know, like maybe somehow and bringing the C2, you know, to be, you know, like in his honor, you know, like kind of think, because, you know, that's tidy with the Death Riders at this point.
50:22.297 --> 50:26.380
[SPEAKER_00]: And Eddie Kingston was the first winner of that in him and Pock were super close, as well.
50:27.341 --> 50:37.854
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, so I don't know if they'll do anything like that, and it doesn't matter, you know, if they do great, if they don't, that's fine too, um, but, uh, you know, I'm that show tomorrow night.
50:37.894 --> 50:42.919
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I am and I'm not looking forward to it, you know, I'm gonna be crying.
50:43.920 --> 50:46.162
[SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, I don't know how I'm going to recap it.
50:46.442 --> 50:47.883
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know if I'm going to take notes.
50:48.323 --> 50:55.167
[SPEAKER_00]: I let let, uh, if you, if you feel overwhelmed that you, you know, Jeff just let Jeff take the ball for a little while.
50:55.567 --> 50:56.648
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he takes notes.
50:56.748 --> 50:58.869
[SPEAKER_00]: So, and he, he's not as emotional as I am.
50:59.610 --> 51:04.333
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I'll be emotional during the dynamite show, but I know I'm going to be emotional watching about it.
51:04.833 --> 51:06.874
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, just watching the dynamite.
51:06.894 --> 51:08.975
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you mean watching versus talking about it?
51:08.995 --> 51:28.546
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, like when I see like the dynamite show, like my show, I, you know, I'm sure I'll keep it together then, but when I'm watching those guys, given their tributes, um, and I suspect it's going to be more like the Brody Lee show and less like the butcher show where, you know, there was just like a few different segments, like I expect it's going to be the whole show.
51:29.086 --> 51:30.307
[SPEAKER_00]: Is it Osprey and Ricochet?
51:30.748 --> 51:31.508
[SPEAKER_00]: Osprey and Ricochet.
51:31.528 --> 51:34.491
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's what's been announced and they had that brick match.
51:34.511 --> 51:35.632
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if they're still going to do that.
51:35.812 --> 51:38.274
[SPEAKER_00]: I they probably will, but they probably should.
51:39.115 --> 51:40.396
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I just don't know.
51:40.637 --> 51:41.698
[SPEAKER_00]: And if they don't, that's fine.
51:42.298 --> 51:46.402
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I've seen, you know, like, I mean, they got, you know, they got grandson Paris next week.
51:46.422 --> 51:48.904
[SPEAKER_00]: They got a paper view like in a couple weeks.
51:50.880 --> 51:55.182
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think they can just announce the matches and they don't really even have to worry about building them.
51:55.542 --> 51:57.223
[SPEAKER_00]: Nobody's going to give them a hard time about it.
51:57.403 --> 52:02.785
[SPEAKER_00]: And right now, these people in this company have to process the loss.
52:04.785 --> 52:05.946
[SPEAKER_00]: And there's a lot going on.
52:06.366 --> 52:11.608
[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I commend them, but I also feel for them.
52:12.208 --> 52:12.768
[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean?
52:12.808 --> 52:14.589
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's going to be hard.
52:14.689 --> 52:18.210
[SPEAKER_00]: And that poor Tony, like, I feel bad for that dude, because he cares.
52:20.311 --> 52:34.091
[SPEAKER_00]: you know and and again like you know you want to have that separation but that's probably why people love works for the dude because he cares and part of part of caring means it's you're going to hurt when when you have a loss so.
52:35.612 --> 52:40.033
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so yeah, this is you watched you watch the paper view.
52:41.153 --> 52:43.854
[SPEAKER_01]: He and on dry day opened up the paper view.
52:45.354 --> 52:46.174
[SPEAKER_01]: They had a strong match.
52:47.015 --> 52:50.435
[SPEAKER_01]: Good opener on dry day got the dub.
52:51.736 --> 52:57.157
[SPEAKER_01]: What did you think of, you know, as the last match of his career,
52:59.375 --> 53:16.190
[SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was I'm not a really good match and it's a good memory for for I just I will say I will say I will say I'm glad I watched the show on time, you know what I mean like I don't always watch it on time and if I was on my normal schedule I probably would have ended up watching it after he passed away.
53:18.192 --> 53:21.053
[SPEAKER_00]: I've been being honest like I was a little disappointed in the match.
53:21.093 --> 53:23.354
[SPEAKER_00]: I was expecting it to be a little bit better.
53:23.434 --> 53:23.995
[SPEAKER_00]: It was still good.
53:24.095 --> 53:24.615
[SPEAKER_00]: Really good.
53:25.335 --> 53:26.636
[SPEAKER_00]: I gave it three and three quarter stars.
53:27.316 --> 53:29.397
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think the guys probably could have had a better match.
53:29.477 --> 53:32.878
[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't think their goal was to have the best match.
53:32.938 --> 53:34.799
[SPEAKER_00]: I think the goal was to put on draw the over.
53:35.139 --> 53:35.820
[SPEAKER_00]: And that's what they did.
53:36.760 --> 53:39.761
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and he looked strong and and that's what he needed to do.
53:39.861 --> 53:41.041
[SPEAKER_00]: So Pock.
53:41.361 --> 53:42.422
[SPEAKER_00]: That's the other thing about him.
53:42.542 --> 53:46.043
[SPEAKER_00]: Like he was always capable of having the best match on the show.
53:46.703 --> 53:47.923
[SPEAKER_00]: But sometimes that's not your role.
53:48.403 --> 53:50.064
[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes your role is to put your opponent over.
53:50.104 --> 53:54.525
[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes your role is to put yourself over and Pock was the ultimate professional.
53:54.645 --> 53:57.266
[SPEAKER_00]: He always did exactly what he was supposed to do.
53:57.806 --> 54:00.727
[SPEAKER_00]: You never heard people complaining about working with Pock.
54:01.047 --> 54:02.307
[SPEAKER_00]: You never heard people.
54:02.527 --> 54:04.548
[SPEAKER_00]: You never heard Pock complaining about his creatives.
54:05.428 --> 54:08.695
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he didn't like working in WWE, but that was a different thing.
54:09.758 --> 54:11.640
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, he always did what he's told.
54:11.700 --> 54:22.249
[SPEAKER_00]: He put over into on the way out, you know, um, and, uh, you know, by all accounts him and ends over friends, which I surprised me, but you know, that's just tells you what kind of guy Ben was.
54:22.869 --> 54:23.810
[SPEAKER_00]: We haven't even said his name.
54:23.830 --> 54:30.796
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think, you know, um, but yeah, it was, um, he, he was, and that that was probably the perfect example of it.
54:30.816 --> 54:35.159
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they could have gone out there, and a lot of times the A, W, the first match of the show still to show.
54:36.015 --> 54:38.575
[SPEAKER_00]: That wasn't the role, for them to have.
54:39.056 --> 54:40.096
[SPEAKER_00]: And Pock knew that.
54:40.536 --> 54:46.137
[SPEAKER_00]: And so he went out there and he put on Droughty over, because on Droughty is going to be challenging for the world title soon.
54:46.277 --> 54:46.937
[SPEAKER_00]: And he knew that.
54:47.237 --> 54:56.879
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I did, I will mention this because, you know, when you watch at Dave's house, you have different people and different views.
54:56.939 --> 54:59.820
[SPEAKER_01]: Jeremy and I, big Dave, John the Rocka.
55:01.000 --> 55:02.080
[SPEAKER_01]: And we all kind of,
55:04.607 --> 55:24.940
[SPEAKER_01]: Pock is on the outside on dry days taking off his pants taking him forever to do stupid pants off yeah and then he's still got to do the tornado dive to the outside and I was just like this poor Pock has got to wait outside forever and still catch on dry day on this dive
55:25.900 --> 55:35.443
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that's kind of like my memory of the match because of how I, you know, how I watched it with my friends was like, you know, we make comments like that.
55:35.483 --> 55:48.727
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh, God, look how long as you have to wait to catch this guy, mine is actually, now they think about it was Marina and that kind of took the match down a little bit for me too was was all the interference from her, yeah, but in hindsight, when you looked at the whole show.
55:49.687 --> 56:16.495
[SPEAKER_00]: that was necessary because they were going to do that again in the main event and and normally you would say oh there's too much of that going on and and I do think there was too much interference on the show but that's the story they were telling and so you set that up in the first match and then you played off it in the main event so it it it maybe sacrifice that match a little bit but to tell the bigger story and the more important match was the world title match and to get Will Osprey over and that was all a part of getting Will Osprey over and building
56:19.376 --> 56:21.757
[SPEAKER_00]: that you're going to have down the road.
56:22.338 --> 56:28.141
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll let you and Jeff, if you guys are going to do that, have you, I don't know.
56:28.401 --> 56:29.761
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know what that paper feels like.
56:29.781 --> 56:30.382
[SPEAKER_00]: It was a month ago.
56:30.602 --> 56:31.002
[SPEAKER_00]: It does.
56:31.182 --> 56:32.563
[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like it was a long time ago.
56:32.603 --> 56:36.245
[SPEAKER_00]: But if you guys have your takes, you can, yeah, yeah, I mean, we'll we'll we'll talk about it.
56:36.285 --> 56:38.706
[SPEAKER_00]: But I don't want to be, I don't want to be critical.
56:39.526 --> 56:40.687
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want to praise them.
56:40.827 --> 56:45.990
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, if I'm we're being honest, like it wasn't the best for safe paper view that
56:47.470 --> 57:02.658
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, our discord was like half of the yeah, but not even just the number of comments just just the the vibe coming out of it was, you know, a little more negative than than it's been some of that was the Steve board injury, a lot of it was the interference in the main event.
57:03.238 --> 57:05.699
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's still a good show, nobody's going to tell you it was a bad show.
57:07.600 --> 57:16.943
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and again, like, you know, depending on how you felt about the main event, you might have thought it was a great show and we'll talk about that tomorrow, maybe, but I mean, it's going to be about Pock tomorrow.
57:17.363 --> 57:18.743
[SPEAKER_00]: So Lady B has a question.
57:19.103 --> 57:27.906
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even really remember this that well, but they did have him with Steven Mel, Steven and Mel.
57:28.066 --> 57:35.448
[SPEAKER_00]: Do you remember this vaguely like, so this would have been when I guess when Cody was still there.
57:36.607 --> 57:41.270
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm assuming because him and Stephen Mell were were buds.
57:41.390 --> 57:49.075
[SPEAKER_01]: The only notes I have from 2015 was that he had a feud with Bodales and Stardust.
57:49.676 --> 57:50.456
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
57:50.776 --> 57:54.419
[SPEAKER_01]: And then he teamed with actor Stephen Mell at Summerslam.
57:54.459 --> 57:55.239
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember the moment.
57:55.259 --> 57:56.020
[SPEAKER_00]: I never did.
57:56.120 --> 57:58.801
[SPEAKER_00]: Neville teamed with him out with that's what it says.
57:59.022 --> 58:00.883
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they wrestled Stardust and Goldust.
58:01.463 --> 58:01.883
[SPEAKER_00]: Let me see.
58:01.923 --> 58:02.483
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to look this.
58:02.503 --> 58:12.306
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because I mean, this sounds vaguely familiar, but man, like I was so in and out of WWE at the time, like there were six months periods when I didn't watch.
58:12.546 --> 58:16.507
[SPEAKER_00]: And and I've been a day one Cody fan, except for Stardust.
58:17.607 --> 58:26.149
[SPEAKER_00]: And then when he first went to the Indies and he got that reputation being three star Cody, you know, I kind of was avoiding his matches for longest time.
58:26.169 --> 58:29.670
[SPEAKER_00]: And then I got into it in the build to the original all in.
58:30.850 --> 58:56.883
[SPEAKER_01]: According to Wikipedia, Neville and Steven Amel defeated King Barrett, oh my god, and star dust in a tag team match, that was fourth from the bottom, and only seven and a half minutes, wow, and that was 2015 eh, 2015 SummerSlam, which was headlined by the Undertaker beating Brock Lesnar.
58:57.343 --> 58:59.504
[SPEAKER_00]: Actually, I think I can get it up pretty here.
58:59.524 --> 59:00.024
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wait a minute.
59:00.044 --> 59:00.585
[SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
59:00.605 --> 59:02.425
[SPEAKER_00]: There we go.
59:02.886 --> 59:03.666
[SPEAKER_00]: I will find out.
59:03.746 --> 59:06.247
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's a lot of freaking King Barrett matches.
59:07.027 --> 59:07.388
[SPEAKER_00]: Here it is.
59:08.308 --> 59:11.069
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, so I'm going to see what they gave it.
59:13.338 --> 59:14.879
[SPEAKER_00]: Dave gave it two and a quarter stars.
59:15.119 --> 59:15.619
[SPEAKER_00]: There you go.
59:15.719 --> 59:21.803
[SPEAKER_00]: Which maybe a low because cage match gave it 5.18, but not very good.
59:22.003 --> 59:24.544
[SPEAKER_00]: Not a good pretty good show though overall.
59:25.845 --> 59:26.065
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
59:26.565 --> 59:29.267
[SPEAKER_01]: So next week when we do a normal show.
59:29.747 --> 59:29.927
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
59:30.267 --> 59:39.692
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure we will talk more about this 946 and bloodline feud, which culminated or or climaxed or whatever you want to call it, it actually got going on raw.
59:40.613 --> 59:40.733
[SPEAKER_01]: And
59:42.394 --> 59:50.403
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you can take a Jacob Fattu as a secret member of the nine four six out of the out of the equation.
59:50.724 --> 59:52.426
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, you got ran over by code.
59:52.446 --> 59:54.248
[SPEAKER_00]: And we got some blood that wasn't blurred.
59:56.290 --> 59:56.831
[SPEAKER_00]: I will say.
59:58.940 --> 01:00:18.926
[SPEAKER_01]: if this was nineteen ninety nine jade parker might be my like trist lattice every time that woman is on television i'm just like she's this she just shines and she's got so much so i hope they use her correctly uh... being with the nine four six
01:00:19.986 --> 01:00:28.913
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see, I'm interested, I hope the user well, I hope this means we're getting Naomi soon.
01:00:30.177 --> 01:00:38.583
[SPEAKER_01]: I hope she is a badass in that group, but that was nice to see, and you know, the angle was was solid.
01:00:39.103 --> 01:00:47.329
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how much I like the stunt crash, like, yeah, I mean, it wasn't quite as bad as when.
01:00:52.713 --> 01:00:55.158
[SPEAKER_01]: uh, Rikishi ran over Stone Cold Steve Austin.
01:00:55.579 --> 01:01:03.515
[SPEAKER_01]: No, uh, it was better than that and uh, also there, you know, I'm trying to think of uh, I think.
01:01:04.820 --> 01:01:12.806
[SPEAKER_01]: The Lyra and Eomatch, even though there were struggles kind of near the end.
01:01:12.826 --> 01:01:14.268
[SPEAKER_01]: That might have been my favorite match on the show.
01:01:14.688 --> 01:01:17.410
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, there are some good ones on that show.
01:01:18.031 --> 01:01:22.274
[SPEAKER_00]: I really like the big cast dragon Lee match, which, you know, it's surprisingly good.
01:01:22.694 --> 01:01:26.537
[SPEAKER_00]: And I know a lot of people are saying that big castes, you know, oh, yeah, they've given up on him.
01:01:26.557 --> 01:01:27.278
[SPEAKER_00]: He's buried and everything.
01:01:27.358 --> 01:01:28.519
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that's the case at all.
01:01:28.539 --> 01:01:29.460
[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is part of his,
01:01:30.120 --> 01:01:36.925
[SPEAKER_00]: redemption storyline and and you'll eventually come back because I don't think he would have got all that offensive at the beginning of the match if they'd given up on him.
01:01:37.466 --> 01:01:45.712
[SPEAKER_00]: So it's it's more about dragonly right now, but but I think it could also took the pin in that that money in the bank qualifier he did.
01:01:45.812 --> 01:01:50.135
[SPEAKER_00]: So that could all be part of something where he's getting for it going to get frustrated way.
01:01:50.155 --> 01:01:51.336
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe this we'll see.
01:01:51.616 --> 01:01:55.459
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, in terms of Vince McMahon booking though, I don't have to
01:01:58.021 --> 01:02:01.383
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, but it is the story that they were telling in the big nets too, right?
01:02:01.584 --> 01:02:04.365
[SPEAKER_00]: Like where, you know, he rock bottom and climbing up.
01:02:04.485 --> 01:02:05.006
[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know.
01:02:05.486 --> 01:02:06.467
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I'm optimistic.
01:02:06.507 --> 01:02:06.967
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
01:02:07.768 --> 01:02:10.950
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't really like, I don't have any big attachment to be cast or anything like that.
01:02:10.970 --> 01:02:12.891
[SPEAKER_00]: I was glad to drag in Lee win.
01:02:14.172 --> 01:02:18.575
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, and even the main event was good until freaking Joe Hendry showed up.
01:02:19.315 --> 01:02:23.776
[SPEAKER_01]: That is, you know, we don't, we don't have change the channel anymore because we have an astreaming world.
01:02:24.416 --> 01:02:26.517
[SPEAKER_01]: But that is when I immediately hit the fast forward.
01:02:26.537 --> 01:02:32.279
[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, it's easy on Netflix, you know, you just go ahead 40, 50 seconds and yeah, I'm not on that guy.
01:02:32.419 --> 01:02:35.300
[SPEAKER_01]: Completely, this is, there's nothing against Joe Hendry, the human.
01:02:35.460 --> 01:02:38.000
[SPEAKER_01]: I know it's all about how he's booked.
01:02:38.400 --> 01:02:44.002
[SPEAKER_01]: It's all about how he's annoying and I don't want to hear the singing and now we got songs.
01:02:44.322 --> 01:02:48.685
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, now we got the Funko Pop guy coming out is like I'm at the base.
01:02:48.785 --> 01:02:50.967
[SPEAKER_01]: This is for five-year-olds.
01:02:51.027 --> 01:02:51.807
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand.
01:02:52.188 --> 01:02:54.209
[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean overall Raw was pretty good.
01:02:54.289 --> 01:02:54.629
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah.
01:02:54.809 --> 01:02:55.990
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, this is good show.
01:02:56.070 --> 01:03:00.534
[SPEAKER_00]: And next week, I guess it'll be the, you know, it'll be the show be on the weekend.
01:03:00.694 --> 01:03:05.297
[SPEAKER_00]: So we'll have that to look forward to and then we show the week after that.
01:03:05.397 --> 01:03:06.998
[SPEAKER_00]: So we just get right back into it.
01:03:07.158 --> 01:03:10.140
[SPEAKER_00]: And we'll be actually we'll be doing this
01:03:11.221 --> 01:03:13.223
[SPEAKER_00]: the night of dynamite.
01:03:13.823 --> 01:03:15.184
[SPEAKER_00]: We may be, we'll talk about dynamite.
01:03:15.744 --> 01:03:16.925
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it will be watching.
01:03:16.945 --> 01:03:18.666
[SPEAKER_01]: That will be kind of the kind of watch at life.
01:03:18.686 --> 01:03:19.407
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wait a minute.
01:03:19.427 --> 01:03:20.268
[SPEAKER_00]: What am I going to do?
01:03:20.728 --> 01:03:23.790
[SPEAKER_00]: I will have to talk about this actually because yeah, I have the dynamite show.
01:03:23.810 --> 01:03:26.032
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe we'll do the dynamite show on Wednesday like we normally do.
01:03:26.092 --> 01:03:27.893
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it will do just keep your show.
01:03:27.913 --> 01:03:29.414
[SPEAKER_00]: Or maybe we'll bring Jeff on for this show.
01:03:29.935 --> 01:03:30.475
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll see.
01:03:30.495 --> 01:03:31.195
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll figure it out.
01:03:31.276 --> 01:03:32.316
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll figure it out.
01:03:32.556 --> 01:03:36.319
[SPEAKER_01]: So JT wants to know who does everyone think the five on each team will be for
01:03:38.255 --> 01:03:40.077
[SPEAKER_00]: Ah, so we got the bloodline.
01:03:40.137 --> 01:03:44.662
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's, so you got the usows.
01:03:46.544 --> 01:03:54.954
[SPEAKER_00]: Fat to Roman, and I guess Naomi, maybe, and then do you bring intergender versions, then maybe bring Zilla into the on the other side.
01:03:56.275 --> 01:03:57.717
[SPEAKER_01]: Why is he not a part of the
01:03:59.117 --> 01:03:59.817
[SPEAKER_01]: Bloodline though.
01:04:00.438 --> 01:04:08.821
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, if he is and if he is, then you take out the women and they'll still be there and they'll probably get involved.
01:04:09.141 --> 01:04:10.942
[SPEAKER_00]: Then you need two more guys for the other stuff.
01:04:10.982 --> 01:04:13.603
[SPEAKER_00]: Have they, have they done a six person war games?
01:04:13.643 --> 01:04:15.644
[SPEAKER_00]: I know Blood and guts has done six people.
01:04:15.704 --> 01:04:17.885
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they, I don't, they didn't NXT.
01:04:18.425 --> 01:04:21.086
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I think the Pat Mac few one might have been six on six.
01:04:21.306 --> 01:04:22.206
[SPEAKER_00]: They've done six.
01:04:22.226 --> 01:04:22.807
[SPEAKER_00]: They've done five.
01:04:22.827 --> 01:04:23.527
[SPEAKER_00]: They've done four.
01:04:24.307 --> 01:04:25.608
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, so they can do whatever they want.
01:04:25.628 --> 01:04:25.788
[SPEAKER_00]: There's
01:04:28.849 --> 01:04:38.255
[SPEAKER_00]: So then, yeah, if you're going to add a team or, or, you know, a couple of people to that, I think maybe LA night could be in with this 964 946, I mean 946.
01:04:38.295 --> 01:04:39.375
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm never going to get that straight.
01:04:39.716 --> 01:04:44.699
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you just you just gave the area code to like the widest town in the US.
01:04:44.819 --> 01:04:45.359
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, did I?
01:04:45.579 --> 01:04:46.059
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't know.
01:04:46.160 --> 01:04:46.660
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just kidding.
01:04:47.040 --> 01:04:52.743
[SPEAKER_01]: Like there would be funny though if like 946 is Oakland and you just gave like the the opposite of Oakland Whatever.
01:04:52.783 --> 01:04:53.623
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, nice.
01:04:53.683 --> 01:05:07.409
[SPEAKER_00]: Now Oakland is nice by the way for So I don't know why I would have gone East Palo Alto because they're Problem still I think it's probably just some reason they wanted to do that so it's so it's 964 or 946 946 946.
01:05:07.429 --> 01:05:07.629
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay Yeah
01:05:11.951 --> 01:05:14.832
[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I mean, we'll find out.
01:05:14.872 --> 01:05:15.772
[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure we got it.
01:05:15.852 --> 01:05:17.673
[SPEAKER_00]: So you got keys.
01:05:17.713 --> 01:05:18.793
[SPEAKER_01]: You got OTM.
01:05:18.933 --> 01:05:28.776
[SPEAKER_01]: And they need to now could that if they're such a renegade group, do they want the baby face smiley yeah guy to be on their team?
01:05:29.436 --> 01:05:37.618
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know unless he's not the baby face smiling yeah guy and that's all a front and he's the you know the badass no guy.
01:05:40.422 --> 01:05:43.224
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I, you know, who else could they could they get?
01:05:43.284 --> 01:05:48.367
[SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm trying to think, is there anybody that's got to come back and be true?
01:05:48.387 --> 01:05:48.467
[SPEAKER_00]: Hmm.
01:05:49.468 --> 01:05:50.528
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be weird.
01:05:51.009 --> 01:05:53.330
[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, get him in that mix.
01:05:53.650 --> 01:05:57.813
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, I, you know, I don't think anybody coming up from NXT.
01:05:58.814 --> 01:06:01.015
[SPEAKER_00]: Zilla did a promo on NXT tonight.
01:06:01.035 --> 01:06:03.536
[SPEAKER_00]: That, I think it got the booted off the air early on.
01:06:03.656 --> 01:06:03.937
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow.
01:06:07.879 --> 01:06:10.000
[SPEAKER_00]: He told somebody, can't remember who it was.
01:06:10.180 --> 01:06:12.121
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, uh, who is it?
01:06:12.361 --> 01:06:14.942
[SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember who he was talking to, but he told me he's going to fuck him up.
01:06:15.543 --> 01:06:15.923
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow.
01:06:16.263 --> 01:06:23.326
[SPEAKER_00]: And they, they blurt, they bleeped it and they blurred his mouth on Netflix, but apparently they cut the feed on CW, like mid promo.
01:06:23.787 --> 01:06:26.108
[SPEAKER_00]: So they didn't even want the censored version.
01:06:26.888 --> 01:06:37.055
[SPEAKER_01]: Based on if you know who owns like a lot of those CW networks, I can imagine that yeah, but it was you don't usually see that And I was like whoa, you know, and it was pretty clear what he said.
01:06:37.075 --> 01:06:53.766
[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't you know Yeah, I can't remember who he's talking to, but yeah, it was a pretty good My right so smaller so I hope that You know that everyone got to remember yeah pack a little bit doing these shows is like
01:06:54.626 --> 01:07:13.059
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, normally we do a show because we enjoy it and you know, we want us many people to check it out as possible, but doing this about this topic about the passing I think it was as much for me to kind of get thoughts out and to get memories out because I kind of have been.
01:07:13.960 --> 01:07:16.201
[SPEAKER_01]: not actively posting about it.
01:07:16.261 --> 01:07:21.502
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've noticed that and I was, you know, it's curious, but I'm glad we had a chance to do this.
01:07:21.682 --> 01:07:31.104
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I'm not, you know, I'm not the kind of person who, you know, it's not like he was my favorite restaurant of all time or anything, but I really did enjoy him.
01:07:32.204 --> 01:07:34.405
[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm, you know, the, you know, the,
01:07:35.825 --> 01:07:53.174
[SPEAKER_01]: spilling of the emotions online is like I enjoy our discord and I like hanging out and having fun, but you know being super vulnerable on the discord or whatever, I'm if it works for folks and they want to do that, I'm all for it but that's like not my thing.
01:07:53.194 --> 01:07:54.275
[SPEAKER_01]: I still have the like this kind of
01:07:55.722 --> 01:08:07.652
[SPEAKER_01]: I get you and I can keep I want to keep that part of me kind of, you know, and save that for, you know, my friends and family, but I appreciate the people who do feel comfortable and close enough to have those conversations.
01:08:07.672 --> 01:08:10.334
[SPEAKER_01]: So I hope it was helpful for them, but this is more.
01:08:11.434 --> 01:08:20.476
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you know, me kind of talking through it and stuff where I feel, you know, I feel a little bit better for us doing this, you know, and that was my thought to it.
01:08:20.616 --> 01:08:29.799
[SPEAKER_00]: And that was my hope and remembering the career and the work that he did rather, you know, and even talking about how we found out about it and our feelings and stuff like that too.
01:08:29.859 --> 01:08:31.819
[SPEAKER_00]: So just kind of doing the whole package.
01:08:31.839 --> 01:08:35.480
[SPEAKER_00]: That was really good for me to and makes me feel a little bit better about tomorrow.
01:08:40.941 --> 01:08:42.082
[SPEAKER_01]: They AW wrestlers.
01:08:42.783 --> 01:08:43.524
[SPEAKER_01]: That is their job.
01:08:43.544 --> 01:08:46.446
[SPEAKER_01]: The show must go on Tony Collins running a business.
01:08:47.106 --> 01:08:57.935
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't imagine You know the the thing that they have to do tomorrow But I wish all of them well and I hope the show goes off well I will watch it.
01:08:57.955 --> 01:09:08.524
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that I'll watch it live because there's a Valkyrie playout Valkyrie's playoffs and stuff that I have to cover to but You know, I'm not I am looking forward to it because
01:09:09.525 --> 01:09:20.008
[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of those shows where these guys who are characters on TV, they're human in these moments.
01:09:20.028 --> 01:09:32.732
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's what I remember most about the Brody Lee episode, and I think it'll be beneficial hopefully to them to express themselves through their work and their art form.
01:09:33.292 --> 01:09:38.414
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I do wish that and hope that they have a really good show and they get something out of it themselves.
01:09:38.766 --> 01:09:42.187
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, to this day, I think that's the best episode or a dime I've ever done.
01:09:42.327 --> 01:09:46.008
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm expecting something similar tomorrow.
01:09:46.528 --> 01:09:48.208
[SPEAKER_00]: And hopefully we get it.
01:09:48.828 --> 01:09:52.829
[SPEAKER_00]: And we all get a little bit of closure and the wrestlers themselves as well.
01:09:53.549 --> 01:10:00.431
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, shout out to Fernando and Curry and the heat is on was hanging out.
01:10:00.891 --> 01:10:07.072
[SPEAKER_01]: The heat is on said that we mentioned that Oliver Gray, person he said he tore his ACL and when he was replaced.
01:10:07.797 --> 01:10:09.659
[SPEAKER_01]: and Jay, who's Jay T, who's that?
01:10:09.939 --> 01:10:11.460
[SPEAKER_01]: Jay T was in the chat.
01:10:11.980 --> 01:10:12.721
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:10:12.821 --> 01:10:15.363
[SPEAKER_01]: Our guy Ant, it was in the chat as well.
01:10:15.543 --> 01:10:18.085
[SPEAKER_01]: Eric Draven was saw that.
01:10:18.125 --> 01:10:19.166
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Lady B too.
01:10:19.346 --> 01:10:21.748
[SPEAKER_01]: Lady Camille was in there at the end.
01:10:21.848 --> 01:10:30.876
[SPEAKER_01]: So appreciate all of you, hopefully everyone enjoys or maybe enjoys as the wrong word, but you get something.
01:10:30.916 --> 01:10:32.417
[SPEAKER_01]: If you're watching Dynamite tomorrow too.
01:10:32.597 --> 01:10:32.797
[SPEAKER_01]: So.
01:10:34.018 --> 01:10:34.861
[SPEAKER_01]: All right, that is it from here.
01:10:35.643 --> 01:10:38.251
[SPEAKER_01]: For Paul, I am WG shout out to everyone.
01:10:38.672 --> 01:10:39.655
[SPEAKER_01]: Peace out.
