Roman Reigns Rejoins The Bloodline for WarGames, Moxley's Face Turn | Takedown

Garrett Gonzales and Paul Fontaine are back with another edition of Takedown, each ranking the five biggest wrestling stories of the week without knowing the other's list.

Leading the way is Roman Reigns returning on Raw to stand with The Usos and Solo Sikoa against Royce Keys, Carmelo Hayes and The 946, setting up a WarGames war at Survivor Series. The guys break down what Reigns reuniting with The Bloodline means for the biggest story in WWE. Then it's the return of the Wednesday Night War: with election coverage moving NXT to Wednesday on November 4, it goes head-to-head with AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts, where Will Ospreay, Adam Copeland, the Young Bucks, Darby Allin and Steven Borden take on the Don Callis Family.

Over in AEW, Garrett and Paul dig into Jon Moxley's babyface turn after The Dogs turned on the Death Riders and joined forces with Jay White and the Bang Bang Gang on Dynamite. They also look at Ilja Dragunov signing with AEW after his WrestleDream debut and what the former NXT Champion brings to the roster.

Plus, the guys weigh in on the Nikki Bella and Paige storyline on SmackDown, from the Bella Twins turning on Paige at SummerSlam to Paige getting her revenge on Nikki, and where the feud goes from here.

10 [SPEAKER_00]: It is a takedown, Paul Fontaine, and Double G here. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about our top five things that we want to talk about in wrestling today. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be interested to know if people can tell the difference, I hope not, because that means this thing is working, but I do have a new digital audio station for those who actually understand podcasting. [SPEAKER_00]: I used to run my audio through something called a focus right? [SPEAKER_00]: Focus, right, it's kind of like the OG thing that even bands would use in such, and I decided to try something new. [SPEAKER_00]: So we'll see, let me know if you could tell a difference or not, if not, then that means this thing is working and working well.

52 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, one other announcement, which is I started a sub stack, because I've been wanting to get back into writing. [SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like. [SPEAKER_00]: We've been, how long have you been podcasting? [SPEAKER_00]: Have you remember when we started? [SPEAKER_01]: I want to say it was late 2020, or maybe 2020, maybe? [SPEAKER_00]: So write about that time and even probably a little bit before. [SPEAKER_00]: I just used podcasting as my form of communication and I feel like the writing side of me kind of left a little bit now I know you still do website stuff so maybe you get to scratch that it's a little bit.

51 [SPEAKER_00]: I started a sub stack and I started writing it, I just used the Russell Dream as kind of like the, you know, the example or the thing to see if I could do what I wanted. [SPEAKER_00]: So it is wrestling focus. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you go to the cool check-in at sub, let me see if I can find this link. [SPEAKER_00]: It is the THE cool, checkin.substack.com. [SPEAKER_00]: And Paul, do you know where the cool check in comes from?

33 [SPEAKER_01]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: It has from a Beastie boy song. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh, um, called now that you style. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: of the cool check in on the mic. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: He starts off the song like kind of scream shouting and on the cool check in. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, so yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So I will be hopefully writing every week, every week or two, my next piece will be on the team that I cover very closely, the Golden State Valkyries who are in the WNBA finals right now down to to one. [SPEAKER_00]: I went on Monday. [SPEAKER_01]: If it's not the loss then, because I know you won the first game. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, when your team loses a very important game.

16 [SPEAKER_00]: And they were winning too, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Because I watched a lot of the first half, and they were up. [SPEAKER_00]: The game, they were up in the first quarter and some of the second quarter, and it should have ran away with it, and they didn't, and then it's been completely flipped since then. [SPEAKER_01]: Atlanta has just, I saw that first game was just all defense. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like at both teams were under 70. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I think the vouchers have been under 70 every game. [SPEAKER_00]: Wow. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so what are we going to talk about here first? [SPEAKER_00]: Did you want to kick off with your number five that is on your list? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so my number five was the this storyline.

01 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't even know if you can call this storyline, but whatever is going on, on Smackdown with Nikki Bellon page. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, like, so this thing is like I watched the show, all right, and I'm watching and I'm not really paying attention to feedback. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not on Twitter. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm in our discord, but literally zero people had commented on the thread by the time I watched it. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't watch it live. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm I wrote in there, whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Nikki and Paige could be worse. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, because I'm watching it, it's just like, it's an average match and I was kind of expecting a bad match. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I was like, somebody responded to me and was like, you know, talking about the spot that they had done, that was, you know, designed to get heat and that it was, you know, this thing where Nikki Bella was trying to get the fans chant new day rocks as to await a mock page because of the [SPEAKER_01]: video that was released like 12 years ago or whatever it was and I'm like oh my god like that's just so dumb and I'm like the fact is okay number one this is the wrong kind of heat number two there's like maybe 10% of the people that watch this that would have even understood it and those people are not popping the way that they want them to pop they are going to be disgusted and they're going to draw attention to it.

16 [SPEAKER_01]: So to me it's like it's definitely not worth the squeeze and I mean the only attention you're going to get is negative and it's not negative heel heat. [SPEAKER_01]: It's negative on the company heat for allowing it to happen. [SPEAKER_01]: I just think it's stupid and and I mean both these women infute on their own merits and there's there's stuff there that they can do without having to resort to this crap that is like 15 years out of date. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so why don't we actually say what happened for those who, like you and I, we're not really paying attention that closely, so as if you've been following SmackDown, Nikki and Paige have done a storyline.

59 [SPEAKER_00]: where they essentially shame each other for their sexual history, for their ex-boyfriends, for things that have nothing to do with wrestling today. [SPEAKER_00]: And so Paige would make a joke at Nicky's expense about [SPEAKER_00]: not having John Cena as her boyfriend anymore. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: And, and so on SmackDown, Nicky did a clap that was designed to sound like the new day, new day, new day rocks like that, that clap.

39 [SPEAKER_00]: And so, [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't understand it at first until somebody told me what it was and it was to insinuate or to remind people that page wants had a private sex video on her phone that was leaked and one of those videos featured Austin Creed. [SPEAKER_00]: right, which at the time was, you know, in NXT. [SPEAKER_00]: And so that was the, that was the new day insinuate and remind people about it. [SPEAKER_01]: And there was like no reaction to it, you know, because the crowd, like I said, like I want to say nobody understood it. [SPEAKER_01]: And I said 10 percent earlier and that's probably super high.

22 [SPEAKER_01]: Because first of all, you have to understand what she's doing. [SPEAKER_01]: And then secondly, you have to piece it together. [SPEAKER_01]: And, and I don't think most [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm not against getting heat for something that you can utilize to level up your program or to make money or to heighten your character, to give your character more opportunities, all for that. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like though, and today's wrestling, a lot of the fan base, which may have applauded that 15 years ago now, frowns on it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know what the point is.

04 [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: I remember there was that WrestleMania after WrestleMania, that one year when I didn't want to keep it. [SPEAKER_01]: It's actually in the match, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: 31. [SPEAKER_01]: That's 11 years ago. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, where the fans were chanting for all the boyfriends at or end or husband of the wrestlers in the ring. [SPEAKER_01]: I think there was, it was a six divas match or six woman match. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, what I can't remember if they were superstars yet. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, and, and yeah, and it was just embarrassing and it was the kind of thing that made you embarrassing to be a wrestling fan. [SPEAKER_01]: And now they're encouraging it. [SPEAKER_01]: Which is just silly and I mean, hopefully it just dies on the vine, but I just feel like it's not going to. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that was yeah, okay, so not only things are going to be positive, but the way I'll just mourn people right now if, um, okay, let's say.

54 [SPEAKER_00]: This is obviously approved for television. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they're not doing any of this stuff on their own. [SPEAKER_00]: Nobody is going against the grain. [SPEAKER_00]: So even if it is Nikki and Paige going, like, hey, why don't we do this? [SPEAKER_00]: You do have the writers going, like, okay, yeah, we approve. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's put that on television. [SPEAKER_00]: So, or in this case, the agents even are proving these spots. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but, what do we blame? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you don't know who came up with it, so the only person you can blame is whoever approved it, which is the showrunner, which is, you know, triple H. The other part of this that I don't like, though, is Nikki and Paige, I'm assuming they would have said no.

46 [SPEAKER_01]: Or maybe I would assume they have the power to say no, if this was pitch to them and they did the right or unless it was their idea and either way, and we don't know unless somebody comes out and says, oh, it was their idea, well, then you can give them a little of the blame, but you still have to blame the person that approved it because the person that approved it could have said, no, we're not putting our television, think of something else. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so maybe these women feel that it's the only way they're going to get it get TV time, you know, I imagine the fans on Twitter is who this is for. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but even then, it's like, again, yeah, like I said, the small number of people that know about it are going to make a lot of noise.

30 [SPEAKER_01]: None of them are going to be for it. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I, I've not seen a single positive thing about this because I just listened to Brian and Dave cover smack down from Friday didn't really cover it too closely. [SPEAKER_00]: They just talked a little bit about it. [SPEAKER_00]: They talked about Nikki and Paige, they talked about the stupidity of Nikki saying that she wants a title match in two weeks and then losing to page right, but they didn't even notice the spot right, they didn't mention anything about this and I wouldn't have either like if someone did drop because they thought when I said I was expecting worse, they thought I was referring to the spot. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I was just talking about the match like it was Charitably you could call it an average match. [SPEAKER_01]: I imagine you didn't see it. [SPEAKER_01]: I suck lips. [SPEAKER_01]: I saw I just saw the Twitter. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was there there was nothing wrong with the match other than, you know, them trying to do this stupid spot.

15 [SPEAKER_01]: Like the sad thing about this is, like page was pretty rough when she first came back. [SPEAKER_01]: She's actually been okay lately. [SPEAKER_01]: Like her matches aren't bad. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, they're not great. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, and Nikki is fine. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she's, you know, she's, you give her a six minute match. [SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be fine. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not going to be offensive or anything like that. [SPEAKER_01]: If you try to put her in a long paper if you imagine, it's going to be bad. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Fernando says it was mid. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah, it was mid. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I was expecting bad. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, but I mean, like nobody knows it Brian and Dave didn't notice like nobody noticed. [SPEAKER_00]: Dave knows because I told him right okay he just shows not to talk about it I guess well maybe he had forgotten it by the time they talked about yeah yeah could be could be okay so my number five now this is rumor because I actually haven't seen a report about it that is a verification but supposedly ramesterial juniors also talking about hanging it up in 2027 okay and the [SPEAKER_00]: is because on one side, you have Adam Copeland doing his last run.

25 [SPEAKER_00]: And then you have on the other side, Ray Mysterio Jr., they were once a really good taxi together. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they were the cornerstones of the SmackDown for like four or five years. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's a nice, like, bookend. [SPEAKER_00]: So that time frame a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: At the same time, John Cena's already retired. [SPEAKER_00]: Christian, he was never at the level of star that those guys were, but you know, he's still doing it. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, Edgen and Ray, it feels like a time has come like an anything of an era. [SPEAKER_01]: And these are guys like people of our age and we're, you know, we're close to the same age. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we've watched their whole career. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, at this point, you know, I mean, I remember I didn't see Ray's early early stuff, but I remember him from ECW from, you know, early WCW.

11 [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, going back to like probably 93, I saw that world's collide paper view that he was on. [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, that's 34 years. [SPEAKER_01]: It'll be next year. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's, you know, that's a good portion of my life. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I didn't hear that. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's, that's cool. [SPEAKER_01]: I imagine the two retirement runs are going to be very different. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, raise retirement seems like a layup, I don't know if they'll take it and I'll talk about a mislayer later, but you know, like, I mean, to me, he shouldn't have a match with Dominic and a mask and then give him the mask. [SPEAKER_01]: That would, to me, that would that would be, you know, what I would do, but I don't know what they're going to do.

53 [SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if they would put the mask on Dominic. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he could it could be one of those deals where he wears it and then takes it off kind of thing where he doesn't wear it all the time, but you know, kind of like Claudio does, yeah, you know, they could do that big, you know, or he could wear it in Mexico and then not in the United States, that'd be cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you obviously have to turn baby face, you know, to do that. [SPEAKER_01]: And then you could do one last match, maybe it's summer time. [SPEAKER_01]: But you do that at WrestleMania and then do one last match at summer slam where it's him, you know, him and Ray tagging against, you know, some team. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And that could be Ray's retirement. [SPEAKER_01]: And that Dom's next feud, you know, whoever that is, maybe the Usos or something.

34 [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm with it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I just love Ray so much as a, as a, like even. [SPEAKER_00]: These last few matches. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he's had even against big bill. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't necessarily like that match very much, but I'm just in to Ray as an underdog baby face. [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't get it. [SPEAKER_01]: No, and he's I mean, he's still like he's not what he once was, but he's still pretty damn good. [SPEAKER_01]: different, you know, I, he's like the hearty's, you know, the hearty's are still going in T and A2 and they're from that same era and the hearty still have good matches all the time. [SPEAKER_01]: Like they're just not the same as they used to be. [SPEAKER_01]: They've changed up their, you know, and then when they try to do what they used to be, it's usually pretty bad.

17 [SPEAKER_01]: But when they just have a straight tag team match with the psychology that those guys have and both bustling out one or two signature [SPEAKER_00]: All right, what is your next one? [SPEAKER_01]: My next one is Dragon League, resigning with WWE. [SPEAKER_01]: That was on my list too. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, five years. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I also was going to tie in Jolistico, you know, room room to be leaving a W and then I'm wondering and maybe this is just me, you know, imagining things that may not be happening, but there was the story about WWE looking to bring back the Sincara character.

57 [SPEAKER_01]: And I wonder if that might be what they would do with Dr. Lystico because I mean, that's how we got that name. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if you people may not even know this, but the person that plays Dr. Lystico, I can't remember his real name, but he was, he's a guy that took over from Mr. Co and CMLL when Mr. Co went to WWE. [SPEAKER_01]: And then when he came back, he had, they gave him this name, which was a combination of dragon Lee and mystical because he was also the original dragon Lee and so they tried this before after because there was a missed disease and there was all. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think so. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, mystical.

37 [SPEAKER_01]: They gave them a different name and then when they made when they gave this guy, the Jolisco game, it then they gave mystical back his his name. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he ever changed the mask or I could be wrong with that because I wasn't really watching, seeing the law. [SPEAKER_01]: I've always followed it. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, so I made me even though I don't watch it. [SPEAKER_01]: I follow it pretty closely. [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So drillistic. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, most people may not even realize is a combination of dragon Lee and mystical. [SPEAKER_01]: So for him, that would be like full circle just coming in and out taking mystical is old gimmick. [SPEAKER_01]: And you know what, it's not remembered fondly, but sincara was a pretty big deal, you know, relatively speaking. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he wasn't, you know, as big a deal as mystical, but a lot of kids were in a sincara.

20 [SPEAKER_00]: And they want to mass debut him. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, in a big way. [SPEAKER_00]: He just did not stay at that level. [SPEAKER_01]: They had that Saturday morning slams show that was kind of designed for him. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was like, I know people. [SPEAKER_01]: I know kids that watched that that didn't watch WWE and they watched that show because it was on Saturday morning, you know, when Saturday morning cartoons were on my daughter. [SPEAKER_01]: My, she's 24 now, 25 maybe. [SPEAKER_01]: She was watching it, and that was her favorite guy, Sincara, and she even wanted to go see a show, and then she found that he wasn't on it, so she didn't go. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't bring her. [SPEAKER_01]: There was a house show.

01 [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so I mean, you know, it's, and you know, and he'll, it'll be big and triple A, you know, so, you know, if they signed him, I think that's good, and you know, and then Rouge, I don't know what's going to happen with him, but I suspect there's going to be bidding more for that guy, you know, whenever his contract is up. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, my next one is none other than Shayna Bayesler. [SPEAKER_00]: I think she signed a deal with TNA. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what the deal is, but they're usually in a parent's deals most of the people are on per appearance. [SPEAKER_00]: But she's gonna, so she debuted at that paper view. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, she was on my list last week.

41 [SPEAKER_00]: And now she is, I saw something hanging on here. [SPEAKER_00]: What is her. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, officially under contract. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, you. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, her. [SPEAKER_01]: The team name. [SPEAKER_00]: I think is the apex. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And I guess it was the story was broken on Denise. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll say those podcasts. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, cool. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So she, she had chain on. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess, yeah, that her last show. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess this was this had to be in recent because the story is in affordable online today. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, that's, I mean, that's cool. [SPEAKER_01]: I, I'm, I'm surprised.

23 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, you know, they have on the F or W, they have the prediction contest every year. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think if somebody would have predicted Shayna Basler will debut in TNA and win their tag team title. [SPEAKER_01]: They probably would have won the contest, you know, because that is not where I would have expected her. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: I thought for sure, you would sign her. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, maybe maybe she wants to be close to WWE and in this way, she still can be always like to bring this up when I talk about Shayna because I saw her second ever pro wrestling match. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, in [SPEAKER_00]: Gilroy, California, I think, for John the Rockas premier championship wrestling, I think should wrestled in Reno once before that, and then John booked her and [SPEAKER_00]: Colleen, I forget Colleen's last name, but Colleen previously was dating Josh Barnett and I think she was also in kickboxing or MMA and transition to pro wrestling and she and Shayna Handa the I think it's the first ever premier women's title match actually.

32 [SPEAKER_00]: So I got to see her and they may they may have run it back once as well. [SPEAKER_00]: So I got to see her a couple times. [SPEAKER_00]: I have a quick chain of story. [SPEAKER_01]: In 2022, I think it was, yeah, it was. [SPEAKER_01]: I was staying, I went to WrestleMania, and I was staying in the same hotel as the wrestlers, and I get on the elevator, and I'm with this person, I didn't recognize, and Shayna comes in the elevator, and with Caleb Braxton. [SPEAKER_01]: And then this fan that was beside me, he's like, Oh, I'm such a big fan of yours and about your match on SmackDown last week was awesome. [SPEAKER_01]: And they should be doing more with you. [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, and she's like, Oh, thank you very much or whatever.

13 [SPEAKER_01]: And then the elevator stops and Caleb Braxton gets out of the elevator and then the door closes. [SPEAKER_01]: And then Shayna goes to this fan. [SPEAKER_01]: And she's like, [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for saying that when you did, you don't even realize this, but she's one of the writers and this thing that might really help me out. [SPEAKER_01]: So thank you very, very much for that. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, and I'm just watching this thing, you know, this kind of cool. [SPEAKER_00]: To kind of be a witness to this. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, you know, just shows you. [SPEAKER_00]: Even somebody has successful in MMA as Shayna, you know, from from a pioneering standpoint, [SPEAKER_00]: Still like you got to make sure the right people notice you and you know you might be the baddest badasses of them all, but you know you still got to impress people.

00 [SPEAKER_01]: So she's had such a great run in NXT. [SPEAKER_01]: The main roster wasn't quite as great, but you know that next T run was memorable. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, what is your next one? [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, so my number three was a messenger. [SPEAKER_01]: Just overall, you know, and there's one thing to happen on Russell dream that that I'll get to later is my number one, but I just thought, you know, a good show like a really good show overall like I watched it. [SPEAKER_01]: like I started watching the show 10 30 my time on Saturday night and I got through almost the whole show I I the last two matches I had to finish and I watch them the next day and I just thought like you know it's long like all their shows are but you know really good there wasn't anything close to a bad match on the show you know like you know the women the four-way women's match was like maybe the weakest match on the show but I still thought it was a very good match.

57 [SPEAKER_01]: And there were some excellent matches and that tag team match, you know, I mean you and Dave talked about it on the recap show like I thought that was one of the best tag team matches ever seen and I thought it was odd, you know, it's funny because, you know, the the squash match that the bucks had on on Wednesday where they got squashed by Dave's and Doyle Davis and Doyle. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think about it, but freakin' Fletcher and Knight were in the very next match, and they were in the same match as the Bucks, and they... Are we supposed to think that the Bucks are a little old and injured, I guess, you know, or maybe are we supposed to think?

41 [SPEAKER_00]: It's going back to that ladder match, but then again, Knight and Fletcher were in that ladder match too, weren't they? [SPEAKER_00]: No, they were not, were they in that ladder match? [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, no, they weren't they were not in the cage and scoping cage and FTR and uh, and you know, and you could also play that with FTR because FTR, you know, wrestled a very little. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't have to pretend. [SPEAKER_01]: I just walk watch DAX watch and I'm like, I feel you brother. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel you. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I mean, you know, they had a 27 minute match with the motor city machine guns, but they were slow. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so it was anyways that, you know, that the show was really the Undraughty Chomp a match, you know, I, I loved 90% of it, and I hated the other 10% of it, can we talk about this pants fought working the crowd thing that I always like I understand it, but I just think it's a little bit.

31 [SPEAKER_00]: short-sighted. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, my issue is, okay, here's, you know, like, Trump starts out the match, and I thought he was awesome getting the heat on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on, on [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's okay. [SPEAKER_01]: So can I answer that one? [SPEAKER_01]: Sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I think the problem that a lot of wrestling fans like us who started watching when we were younger when we were younger on television at least there was a clear differentiation between baby faces and heels.

23 [SPEAKER_00]: you were selling t-shirts of the baby face, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Like you had this baby face had to be very popular. [SPEAKER_00]: John Cena didn't turn heel for years, because he didn't, they sold too much merch with John, like you don't want to turn him heel, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And I think with AEW, and I always thought, even as a kid, I always thought it was dumb. [SPEAKER_00]: that the heels always had to be so underhanded and that there couldn't be a little bit more of a great area because I looked at it as I know I watch real sports right let's say Mike Tyson [SPEAKER_00]: against whomever.

13 [SPEAKER_00]: And you know that one of those guys and, you know, Nick Diaz maybe maybe set it the best out of everybody. [SPEAKER_00]: One of those guys may be playing the heel and the other one of those guys may be playing the baby face. [SPEAKER_00]: And at the end of the match or at the end of the fight, what do they do? [SPEAKER_00]: They hug each other because they're like holy crap. [SPEAKER_00]: We just went through war. [SPEAKER_00]: We just went through hell and we're both still in one piece. [SPEAKER_00]: thankful for you to help me make this money like that kind of thing, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And so I always thought like when even when I was a kid, I was like, okay, I'm supposed to hate this guy and of course I was a Hogan guy. [SPEAKER_00]: But then I bet you when this match is over, they're probably drinking beers in the back together, right?

57 [SPEAKER_00]: And so pro wrestling is built on this idea that you can fool the fans, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Like that's how we grew up watching. [SPEAKER_00]: We do not feel that way today. [SPEAKER_00]: We do not feel like we can be fooled ever. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you're a Chiampa and you get your kid in the front row, [SPEAKER_00]: and take a picture with your kid. [SPEAKER_00]: Right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I mean, you've also got dacks on this, you know, on, on, not to say this show, but, but, you know, on A, W television. [SPEAKER_01]: Now if you used to be doing the thing to the daughter, now he calls us daughter a brat. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, because he's an old man, but he's an old school he'll and the thing is like I'm I'd be fine with the like Fernandez had picked a lane like I'd be fine with the comedy stuff if that's what he wants to do, but don't do both in the same man, but why not what what is the rule that says you can't do that.

52 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I guess there isn't a rule. [SPEAKER_01]: I did, and then the fact is, like, and this, I made this comment, like, I don't like it, but I'm not saying they shouldn't have done it because it worked. [SPEAKER_00]: I think the people who are the hardest critic of that stuff and, I mean, you heard me with Dave, I said I thought it was cheap and Dave hated it too, but then he has to acknowledge that it worked because that's just how his brain works. [SPEAKER_01]: And I had almost the exact same opinion as Dave, I mean, when I was watching him real time. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, the reaction of the crowd, but how many of those people were really reacted? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I think I think you got the loudest reaction of the night.

33 [SPEAKER_00]: So there were 8,500, 9,000 people in that crowd. [SPEAKER_00]: And there were probably 250,000 people watching on paper. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: And this is the thing. [SPEAKER_01]: And so, and when people, like, when might say to me, like, oh, I'm a hypocrite because I didn't like this. [SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, I was in the crowd for Sandman's last match. [SPEAKER_01]: And I was cheering, you know, watching him wrestle in visible man. [SPEAKER_01]: Which was exactly what this was. [SPEAKER_01]: The difference is that was an indie show in front of 200 people and probably another 200 watching online, like I don't know how many people are watching on children, but I don't think it was many.

15 [SPEAKER_01]: But the difference is an indie show. [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't a title match on a major paper view for a major company. [SPEAKER_01]: Like that's the difference. [SPEAKER_01]: And even John and the Chad here brought up that he's being classic to Mosul Champa, whatever that gimmick is from our way to even, you know, maybe even the Indies before [SPEAKER_01]: But this isn't that our wage. [SPEAKER_01]: This is a national wrestling company. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's the thing. [SPEAKER_01]: Again, if that's what he wants to do, that's fine. [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, Tony, you know, I think date what Dave said was Tony wasn't sure about it, but then when he did it, Tony said he compared it to Orange Cassidy. [SPEAKER_00]: OK, as a way to say, there are things that these guys do that I may not understand immediately.

57 [SPEAKER_00]: But they're really smart. [SPEAKER_00]: And [SPEAKER_00]: they can get, if they can get it over, then it works. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, and I would say like, I like Doran's Cassie right from day one. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'd never seen him before. [SPEAKER_01]: He showed up in a W. And I was, oh, this is different. [SPEAKER_01]: I like it. [SPEAKER_01]: And the thing is with Chalpa, like, if he was only doing that, you know, this nut bar that is, we'll just do anything and he's like completely, nuts, that would be fine, except he's not always that. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's, it's the inconsistency that I don't, but, but, but again, like, [SPEAKER_00]: If you were at your house, yeah, and I asked your wife, I was like, hey, you know, how's Paul feeling today? [SPEAKER_00]: She probably said, yeah, he seems like he's in a pretty good mood.

37 [SPEAKER_00]: Except for this one point of the day where maybe he was frustrated with something, that's just how it works, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, why does Cheompa have to be the exact same person throughout 100% of the match? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, just because it's the rules that we grew up on, that we're taught to us that we have kind of like we are the gatekeepers of these old school rules that I'm not even sure, you know, and to exist here, I'm not saying that I'm not telling him what to do like I will fully acknowledge that it worked, you know, or it appears to have worked and I'm not going to say don't do it again. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying if you do it again, I'm probably not going to like it.

19 [SPEAKER_01]: That's well, and that is your right as a fan of how you react. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think going back, like, I didn't like it. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying they shouldn't have done it. [SPEAKER_00]: I wasn't offended. [SPEAKER_00]: It just wasn't for me. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think you also did not pay attention until people told you to pay attention. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's part of it too. [SPEAKER_01]: That's part of, I mean, I did understand what they were doing. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, I didn't need to hear what Renee said to understand what was going on. [SPEAKER_01]: But I was hoping that that wasn't what they were doing. [SPEAKER_01]: And, and, you know, and so when I realize, okay, that is what they're doing. [SPEAKER_01]: I will say what they did on Wednesday with Moxley. [SPEAKER_01]: Like I love that because now he can be that sympathetic baby face.

00 [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't have to think about packs death in order to make him a sympathetic baby face. [SPEAKER_01]: I can just, what think of the show I'm watching. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, and there's a TV show that I watch where you know, an actor might have died and stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not, I don't want to be constantly reminded of that every time I watch the show. [SPEAKER_00]: This is, this is going to be my next one. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's a good choice. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, here's the part that I don't like about your argument, which is you loved the pack show, right? [SPEAKER_00]: After you've not as much as most people, but I did like it, but you enjoyed it. [SPEAKER_00]: You it touched your soul as you were watching. [SPEAKER_01]: Not as much as some people, but yeah, yeah, I thought it was a really classy tribute that they gave them.

42 [SPEAKER_00]: John Moxley on that show they did not show this on television. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he cut a promo that people were just like, oh my gosh, like this is the most human person I've ever seen in wrestling. [SPEAKER_01]: And I didn't see that all I saw was him joking in the main event. [SPEAKER_00]: So that show and that promo kind of told you the fan [SPEAKER_00]: Like, we're not running away from this. [SPEAKER_00]: This guy was a part of our company. [SPEAKER_00]: And if people want to celebrate him while they're working, like, so be it, right? [SPEAKER_01]: What I will say, like, when I listen to your recap with Dave and what I was missing, I will say this.

27 [SPEAKER_01]: What I was missing when I watched it. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't realize that, you know, the news about what happened about how Pock died had just broken the day before. [SPEAKER_01]: So, and then Dave made a comment about how it was almost like these guys had to go through it again. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And that part is what I missed. [SPEAKER_01]: So then if I'm talking about why [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, that makes a little bit more sense now, but when you bring up him being a locker room leader like that's back stage stuff that's on camera this guy is, but it's not in AEW like that stuff exists in their storytelling because they understand close their fans are to the product.

10 [SPEAKER_00]: This is not mean 1986 [SPEAKER_01]: WWF, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, what's he leading though? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I mean, the whole thing is like, and, and they do, it's death writers versus the world. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a W, you know, versus the world. [SPEAKER_01]: But in real life, it's a W versus the world. [SPEAKER_01]: But, but in the storylines, it's death writers versus the world. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, but, okay, so you watched the Chris Jericho and Nick Wayne's storyline. [UNKNOWN]: Oh, God, I hated that. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so Chris Jericho is like, hey, young boy, [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I got to teach you some some things here in this ring so that you can get become an even bigger star. [SPEAKER_00]: Like that's like locker room leader stuff, right? [SPEAKER_00]: That's like looking out for people who may not have as big of a voice as you.

53 [SPEAKER_00]: And that's what Moxley does for his people and people look to him for approval. [SPEAKER_00]: And like am I handling this right and how do you know, you have the guidance, you are the person who's got knowledge here. [SPEAKER_00]: That's what a locker room leader is. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you are grieving because one of your [SPEAKER_00]: uh... one of the people you've shared a ring with passed away uh... are you supposed to sell it are you supposed to not sell it are you supposed to pretend like it didn't happen are you supposed to put your head down to work can you actually show a little bit of sympathy in this moment yeah what is john doing because if i do what john does i think i'm probably moving in the right direction on this thing i think i'm probably okay and if john is not selling it [SPEAKER_01]: Then you're like, okay, maybe we have to not sell it like it's that kind of stuff and that's like the selling he did a really good job of selling it, but then they tied into the actual match and it's like, Oh, Marina gave him encouragement so he could win the match, but that's not really what that was about like him selling it wasn't about winning a match over Mark Davis.

03 [SPEAKER_01]: It was about gutting his way through an overcoming his emotions. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: And the honestly the results of the match doesn't even matter. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I personally thought he should have lost the match, but I would man, if he would have lost the match, I would have liked it so much more and then maybe they hug after something, you know, like, and that would be breaking K-fade for Davis and, you know, but, but again, we're talking about a real life tragedy. [SPEAKER_00]: The problem is is if he does lose that match, then whatever they're doing with the tag right championship system. [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly. [SPEAKER_01]: And, and honestly, I think Jay White's probably going to end up with that bill. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the tower feels right now, but yeah, so I mean, I will say like I don't hate it as much now in retrospect and a lot of it It wasn't so much not understanding the storyline, but it was maybe not getting the context of how he was probably feeling at the time because I didn't I missed that piece about Park [SPEAKER_01]: and the cause of death coming through and you know and I'm sure everybody had their theories and you know and I saw some really bad ones about what happened and then this was just like it's just a tragedy that you know honestly couldn't have been prevented and it's really sad and they had to go through that again.

11 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the day before our paper view is so, but I do like the fact that now we can look at him as a here and even that locker room leader now he can be that locker room leader in storyline because he's not the head of a faction that is hated by everybody now they're loved by everybody so. [SPEAKER_00]: you just, I feel like you just closed that by going against everything I was telling you that it's different about AEW from the wrestling. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm talking like, but I'm talking about myself, okay, keep in mind. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm talking about myself. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not talking about like, here's the thing like these fans, like the AEW hardcore fans and there's a lot of them and it's what's made this company successful.

55 [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to buy anything that is sold to them. [SPEAKER_01]: For the most part, especially if they feel the product is strong, and AW plays into that us against the world aspect of it. [SPEAKER_01]: And so like a guy like Mark Davis for instance, Susan, the cows family, and they're really the most hated, you know, on storyline, the most hated [SPEAKER_01]: faction in the company. [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody loves that dude. [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody loves co-fletcher. [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody loves Okada. [SPEAKER_01]: Even though they're heels, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And they're not going to get that traditional heel heat. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that there's anybody. [SPEAKER_01]: And I guess probably the dogs right now, you know, or the bang bang dogs, whatever you want to call them.

36 [SPEAKER_01]: That's the closest thing you're going to have to real heels in a w, but even then, like people, I think probably like J White, [SPEAKER_01]: Um, but I mean, they're going to get booed because get kid maybe, get kid, but he's a baby face now. [SPEAKER_01]: That's right. [SPEAKER_01]: He did. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, which is going to be tough. [SPEAKER_01]: I've been having this conversation today because that dude is so much better when he's not trying to get cheered in my opinion. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's going to be, um, it's going to be interesting to see, but I think like I think people have some sympathy for him because they know he was close to pack and uh, but it's going to be weird watching New Japan where he is a hated heal and I don't think he's going to turn [SPEAKER_00]: All right, a second plug for the sub-stack, but I did write a lot about John Moxley.

24 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you love that match, and that's great. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I'm not trying to discourage anybody. [SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't even about the match. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I wrote. [SPEAKER_00]: less than a paragraph about the match. [SPEAKER_00]: It was everything up into the match of when I was doing podcasts with him and I was reading excerpts from his book and just thinking back on all of those times and kind of the courage it takes for someone to be so public and then decide to go to rehab, take all that time from his job, take all that time from his family, come back [SPEAKER_00]: and still be that same person he is with that company and now and now go through everything he's gone through without the aid of substance substances that he had before.

12 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean how hard is that and I know as somebody that's been through that and I mean honestly you could it's never in the past you're always going through it. [SPEAKER_00]: To do that. [SPEAKER_01]: sober is, I mean, I commend him for that. [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, so, so Kudos to John Moxley. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I just, we just bought his book, actually, the audio version of it. [SPEAKER_01]: My daughter's been listening to it, you know, when she goes to bed, I'm probably a bad dad for the, there's some curses in there, but all the bad words. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but that's fine. [SPEAKER_01]: And she probably hears that when in my wife talk, [SPEAKER_01]: All right, what's your number two?

53 [SPEAKER_01]: My number two is raw on Monday. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I, so I, okay, it wasn't a bad show. [SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I might even classify it as a good show, but it could have been a great show. [SPEAKER_01]: And there was just some really, really stupid things on that show. [SPEAKER_01]: Like that JD, like Funko Pop thing, [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I hit on my Apple remote. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I hit pause and then I scroll for about eight minutes every time I see the Joe Henry stuff and the the Funko pop hit. [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, I get to the end. [SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, Joe Tass is just so bad.

34 [SPEAKER_01]: Like it's it's it's so bad. [SPEAKER_01]: And then like there was the bit with the in the Lyra and Lola match where Becky or not Becky Bailey comes out of the room and it's like we're supposed to believe she's been under the ring the whole match like come on like I see crap like that and I'm just like What do you that's WWE that they they love to do stuff like that you know why is because the fans forgive them [SPEAKER_01]: And then that segment that they did before the match where Lyra found her back stage, like, what is his character? [SPEAKER_01]: Like, she's like, she's like, looks like she's lost her mind and her hair is all over the place and I just, oh, there's, there's that's leaping.

18 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think. [SPEAKER_01]: And then, and then the, you know, [SPEAKER_01]: Bron and Penta they're having a great match and then I know I remember there was a spot in the match where I think it was Penta hit like the Penta driver and Bron kicked out and then I was like all this match has been really good and then it dawned on me. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we're getting a shit finish and on cue. [SPEAKER_01]: I'll come Austin Theory and Maxine and it's like, okay, here we go. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I don't even [SPEAKER_01]: And so you didn't win clean. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it was distraction and it was this and that. [SPEAKER_00]: But it was, yeah, it was, uh, yeah, javon hit him with the belt or something.

59 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, what does it mean? [SPEAKER_01]: It is finished, yeah, but at least he won. [SPEAKER_00]: But they're protecting, but they're protecting Braun with that finish. [SPEAKER_01]: They were and they were building up Penta and all that. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's, you know, that's good. [SPEAKER_01]: But again, I see, I, [SPEAKER_00]: Of course, I do not like those finishes either, but when they're smartly done and I understand why I'm less frustrated, but it would be like the finish that I would hate like let's say that same match. [SPEAKER_00]: The finish that I would hate would be, you set Giovanna to hit brawn and then brawn, leap frogs over Penta, hit to spear and wins. [SPEAKER_00]: That to me would be like the dumbest thing you could do.

40 [SPEAKER_00]: Right, cause then you're saying Penta's not on his level. [SPEAKER_00]: And then you're just sabotaging the baby face there. [SPEAKER_00]: But so I liked it the baby face one and I liked that brawn breaker got protected in losing. [SPEAKER_01]: And then in that intercontinental title match like I'm watching this match and the match is great. [SPEAKER_01]: It's Chad Gable Dragon Lee and Ray Mysterio and the fans were like super into it and they're so behind Ray and and Chad Gable is getting booed, but I mean he's not he's not a heel. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just you know like they want Ray to win and they don't even want Dragon Lee to win like Dragon Lee's hitting moves and they're not reacting because they want Ray to win and I'm watching this match. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like if this [SPEAKER_01]: If Ray gets the win here, this is like an all-time great moment on Raw.

22 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, because it's his 50 one or whatever role is 53, maybe. [SPEAKER_01]: You're a guy getting a winner in his hometown, you know, that nobody was expecting and then Chad wins. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, and it was like the crowd reaction, it was like a balloon, air get let out of the balloon. [SPEAKER_01]: When it happened. [SPEAKER_01]: And then, you know, you do the post match and it becomes pretty clear. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, they're going to Ethan and Chad. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm just, you know what, like, why couldn't you have just had Ray win, and then a month from now two weeks from now, he could just lose the belt to Ethan, like that's fine. [SPEAKER_01]: You could do that. [SPEAKER_01]: And by at least you get this one great moment, and they didn't do it. [SPEAKER_01]: And to me, that was like the easiest layout, and they didn't take it.

04 [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know why, like, I guess they didn't want to. [SPEAKER_00]: I understand that finish, but I was fine with Chad Gable winning because he's the reason why Ross good right now to me is because he's having all these great matches as the champion, all these people are chasing him. [SPEAKER_00]: He's beaten all of them. [SPEAKER_00]: He's, but he's, he can't just get the belt back in like a month and then just keep doing it. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, what do they get outside of this moment for ray to win this title? [SPEAKER_00]: And then we know [SPEAKER_00]: that he's not the guy like we we know it's what I mean you get that great moment that's it he said the fans will have to be spoken with semi saying we've spoken with Chelsea Green yeah I love this working man's champion chat with my favorite character in WWE right now it's like I wish they put him against heels you know but I just they don't want him to beat any of their heels all the guys he's beaten our baby faces [SPEAKER_01]: what this week this is what a w does like the same thing through did you just put the best guys against the best guys and let the fans pick and choose and to be fair I love I love I'm like you I love having that great match the look forward to every week or you know every every second week or whatever it is you know and it's kind of like AAA where you get those matches every week [SPEAKER_01]: Um, and, and yeah, Gable's killing it.

30 [SPEAKER_01]: He's not over the way he should be, but Um, he's pretty over. [SPEAKER_00]: He's, like, he may not be over in the eyes of the booker, but I think with those fans, those fans get excited to see these matches. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and a lot of it is that the opponents, you know, that, that, you know, and they're getting to show out to which is nice, you know, like they died again, you know, if you want to give Triple H, you want to give him health for the Nikki and Paige thing, they give him credit for this. [SPEAKER_01]: That he's actually letting him go out and have these great matches, you know, which hasn't always happened in the past. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, I love and I love the main event angle. [SPEAKER_01]: By the way, we don't just talk about it too much. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, we're just talking about it right now because we're coming. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: And at least, at least we now now we have the full bloodline.

14 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, against the 946 crew. [SPEAKER_01]: when Jacob comes back we still got to add one guy right yeah and and I mean we talked about that last week about who you know who could who might be and um i you know i don't Ricky Stark's or Ricky Saints um the online X [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like that tab. [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like you need to bring another bigger guy just because Jacob. [SPEAKER_01]: So they did something on NXT. [SPEAKER_01]: Cruz sent, they had a no contest with Cruz and Dion Lanix and then Cruz beat the live and hell out of him after the match and laid him out and it came off like a right off.

57 [SPEAKER_01]: To me, that could mean that Dion Lanix is actually heading into raw. [SPEAKER_01]: But you know what the problem with this matches? [SPEAKER_00]: What? [SPEAKER_00]: are the bloodline going to lose, maybe not, because Royce keys need to beat somebody in this match for it. [SPEAKER_00]: I need to be Roman. [SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, if you want to do like a Roman Roman key, you know, Royce keys match, they could add the women to, you know, you could do that. [SPEAKER_01]: That would be cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: How do you get make sure they stay away, though, from the from the dudes? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, you, yeah, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I guess you have them come in last and Jay Jay does jump it on somebody's back, man.

38 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then Naomi makes the big, you know, come back whatever, like I mean, she hasn't been reintroduced yet, but I imagine she's pretty close. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, it's probably easier just to do. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the way we can get involved, you know, even if they're not in the match. [SPEAKER_01]: And um, [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I fetch you and then probably somebody else and I don't know if D.L. [SPEAKER_01]: Nox is ready, but he's been doing pretty good lately and maybe and he's probably not as big as he looks in NXT, but he's bigger than Carmelo for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, he's a football player. [SPEAKER_01]: He's like six to, you know, 240. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's probably big enough. [SPEAKER_01]: As long as it's not Grayson, I'm good. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think Grayson's good where he is. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, he's actually been doing pretty good on X.

19 [SPEAKER_01]: He's always been good in NXT. [SPEAKER_01]: It's on the main roster where he kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: What's your number one? [SPEAKER_01]: My number one is Dragon Off. [SPEAKER_00]: And I didn't see the patch because it's stupid got cut off. [SPEAKER_00]: Why? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I know. [SPEAKER_00]: And I died on my feet and I couldn't get back to Max today to watch the end of it. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, the thing is, and you know, and, and drag it off was awesome, and I, but Bailey was also awesome in this Why it was in that match. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like they did something in this match, and I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't I started Wrestling Observerator haven't finished yet, so I haven't heard anybody else recap it other than Jeff and I [SPEAKER_01]: And there was a spot in the match where it looked like Bailey heard himself and I thought he heard himself and he's selling that leg the rest of the match, but then it all led to a crane spot and then [SPEAKER_01]: he went after the injured leg first and then he went after the head second.

20 [SPEAKER_01]: So clearly that was a plan spot. [SPEAKER_01]: But it didn't, like for the last 10 minutes of the match, I was worried because he was like, he's even trying his moves and like not being able to run and stuff like he was selling this really, really well to the point where like I really wasn't sure if he was hurt or not. [SPEAKER_01]: and but then by you know when I saw the finish is pretty clear like that was the plan and so he yeah I mean drag it off I don't think it could have gone better like he had just one of the best matches a year on television in the main event and what I really liked about this is [SPEAKER_01]: They left it open for him to either be a baby face or a heal.

02 [SPEAKER_01]: And we don't know what he's going to be. [SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, you talked about it earlier, like say W, it doesn't matter, blah, blah. [SPEAKER_01]: But I mean, at some point he's going to be aligned with either baby face group or a heal group. [SPEAKER_01]: He's not going to be on his own. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think with the way they did this, it can go either way. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, a great, great, great side for him. [SPEAKER_00]: And I want him to not kind of normalize like what happens to a lot of these guys and I don't know how I mean he's pretty distinct, but it's also he also wrestles at a level that a lot of guys there wrestle that like in WWE [SPEAKER_00]: he was way different because he was so violent right in an AEW almost everybody's violent well okay here's the thing when you watch this match and I assume you will [SPEAKER_01]: you're going to see why AEW wanted him and also why it didn't work in WWE because he could not have had this match in WWE.

14 [SPEAKER_01]: He's had matches like this, but not to this extent, and I think it's going to get even more. [SPEAKER_01]: I can't imagine what's going to happen when he wrestles Darby, or Mark Davis. [SPEAKER_01]: That's why I'm so looking forward to, I put a list in this [SPEAKER_01]: Bailey was on the list so 99 to go and you know hopefully we don't get to Kingston which was not on the list my who was yeah Who was the one that you specifically left off it was it? [SPEAKER_01]: Well Kingston also somebody said they can't wait to see dragon often Kingston and I said oh There's a hundred people I'd rather see him face and then you challenge me to name the hundred But the um no, but I mean I left Copeland off a list yeah and I actually that I'm a micro [SPEAKER_01]: I do not want to see him wrestle and then Jeff said he's going to go to Tony and say he wants to wrestle dragon up like God, he's going to get killed like maybe literally Because man, these suplexes he's given Bailey.

12 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, they're paying for the watch and Bailey just gets up. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's go. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's it's going to be fun. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, my number one is a quick one is in two weeks. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to get out of the head head, we are NXT is probably getting moved off of election Tuesday to Wednesday. [SPEAKER_00]: And that will go ahead up against AEW's blood and guts, which should do one of their better numbers of the year, because they're, they're going to be able to promote the show very well. [SPEAKER_00]: They started with making the men's match on Wednesday.

56 [SPEAKER_00]: And they serve the women's match that they're building. [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I don't, I think NXT might get boiled, like chicken breast. [SPEAKER_00]: So this is happening, this has happened before, um, I think it was against the same blood and gut show. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, not it was a loaded up show. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, it was on November 6th on 24 because that was the night Trump got elected again. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, God. [SPEAKER_01]: And they did they had a head to head and they did above their normal numbers. [SPEAKER_01]: 619 and a point one seven and dynamite the same night did uh 523 and a point one six.

39 [SPEAKER_01]: So they were close in the demo at NXT beat them in the total viewers. [SPEAKER_01]: I predict they're going to do the finals of the Dusty Cup on this show and advertise Cody. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, if they bring on a main roster person that I think, yeah, I don't think they could cook. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think everyone was expecting that to happen to Halloween have it, but they have not advertised Cody for Halloween have it yet. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm assuming they're saving that. [SPEAKER_01]: for that and for that head to head. [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I don't think they're going to beat AEW, but I think they'll be close. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it'll get waxed. [SPEAKER_01]: I think. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: If they bring Cody or um I guess they can't do punk.

20 [SPEAKER_00]: They could do punk, but punk is usually the one that they do. [SPEAKER_00]: Sammy Kayo because Kayo hangs out. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, he does. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if they're doing LFG again, they probably are. [SPEAKER_01]: So he's probably their coaching because he's on that show and you know, that stuff doesn't air for like six months from now. [SPEAKER_01]: So he's probably there at the tapings every week. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but the last time they went head to head in exceeding do anything different than no no I mean they brought in TNA and main roster people, but it was nobody of significance and and they had you know I it was it okay show, but it wasn't great and they had a really really really bad battle royal.

01 [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I'm interested yet another hit the head on a Wednesday. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess I'll be watching Dynamite. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'll watch Dynamite and if something good happens on NXT, I'll try to run it back. [SPEAKER_00]: But the last time I tried to watch NXT, it did not even, it was an broadcast might you have to watch. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes [SPEAKER_01]: Great. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's, it's not quite C2, but it's the best tag team tournament I've seen in a long time, um, you know, and the finals, I think it's 14 left. [SPEAKER_01]: And no matter what the finals are, they're going to be great. [SPEAKER_01]: I expect it's going to be darn arena against Hank and tank would be my guess, and they're going to have a fun match.

46 [SPEAKER_01]: Are they ever going to move outside of that building ever again? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, they should, but I, and you know what's weird is like, I was at that show four, three years ago, three and a half years ago, almost four years ago, and I look in that crowd. [SPEAKER_01]: I see a lot of the same people that were there when I was like, God, God, those people him in their life for their life, yeah, yeah, and they're, and they're hot for those shows. [SPEAKER_01]: So good for them. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: We got through it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: the the reason why we've kind of bounced back and forth between Tuesday and Thursday is because my schedule has been a little bit tougher with the valkers in the playoffs and now in the finals, but I think next week, no matter what happens in the WMBA finals, we've got my last week, where I'm covering every single game after the game, so there might be a little bit of more of changing around the schedule.

40 [SPEAKER_00]: Next week, but after that I should be pretty clean like I'll have warrior stuff because we're going to try and restart our warriors podcast, but that that's probably going to be a little bit less The Valkyrie stuff is Humming like it's it's unbelievable to see the response from from Valkyrie stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm I'm impressed see this is this Go Atlanta dream [SPEAKER_00]: The guy can be like my favorite and then he can throw stuff like that at me at the same time. [SPEAKER_01]: He's a big kilo cash fan. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I know. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm a big kilo cash fan. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a basketball hater. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not a sports hater, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Except for maybe the Dodgers and maybe a little bit the Cowboys. [SPEAKER_00]: But when you watch the level of basketball that is being played and you watch like how the teams kind of counter each other and you're just like, [SPEAKER_00]: I I just have to appreciate what's happening on the on the basketball court.

34 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't hate any sports team. [SPEAKER_01]: I just love my teams. [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, and I'm disappointed when they lose, but I don't hate the people that beat them. [SPEAKER_01]: That's just the way I've always watched sports. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the Dodgers can go on to one 62 next year. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be the happiest person alive, even in my giants, only one one game. [SPEAKER_00]: Who's going to watch this world series? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not going to share the people in Tampa are going to be watching this world series. [SPEAKER_00]: It was goodness with the growers in the right. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you know, either team wins. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a good story for their team. [SPEAKER_01]: Brewers have a little bit of that underdog. [SPEAKER_01]: If you mean they also have a really good history as well.

16 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I am including for the Brewers. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But it's not like I really have a dog in the race. [SPEAKER_01]: I, I've definitely written for the burrs because the rays are probably the closest thing to a team I don't like just because every time the jays play in Tampa, they lose I think I, I did not every time, but it's got to be at least two out of every three like it's it's their jays are really bad in Tampa and and it bugs me that, you know, they go down there and there's like 4,000 people in the building. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, and they've always got a great team, which, you know, I've mad at their fans not so much things. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, yeah, it's a tough market. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it is. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: That is it from here for Nano had to end this with Go Angel Reese.

57 [SPEAKER_00]: I think the Reese has been she's on the dream. [SPEAKER_00]: He's in the she's been a giant pain in the backside of the Valkyries of the collective Valkyries just put all their back sides up against the wall and Angel Reese is a pain in all of them. [SPEAKER_00]: See how quiet they viewed yesterday. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the rafters are going to be great this year. [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, what's my healthy point? [SPEAKER_00]: If you could stay healthy, let's go watch load management, baby. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: That is it from here for Paul. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm WG. [SPEAKER_00]: We will see when we see you piece out.
