Ospreay vs. Fletcher, Shawn Michaels Replacing Prichard? | Takedown

Garrett Gonzales and Paul Fontaine rank the week's top wrestling stories: Ospreay vs. Fletcher, Bayley vs. Lyra, NXT vs. Blood & Guts, Shawn Michaels and Crown Jewel.

Garrett Gonzales and Paul Fontaine rank the biggest stories in wrestling this week, and neither knows the other's list ahead of time.

On the AEW side, Kyle Fletcher laid down the challenge for Will Ospreay's AEW World Championship at Full Gear on November 14 in Phoenix after beating Jack Perry on Dynamite, reminding everyone he beat Ospreay at Full Gear 2024. The guys weigh that history against Ospreay's steel cage win at Revolution and debate whether Fletcher is the right challenger, with both men also set for the Blood & Guts match on November 4.

On Raw, Bayley tapped out Lyra Valkyria in a no disqualification match for her first singles win since April, and Garrett and Paul look at where a feud that has run all year goes next. Then it's the return of the Wednesday Night War: with The CW's midterm election coverage bumping NXT from Tuesday, WWE is putting a loaded NXT head-to-head with AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts on November 4 in Jacksonville, and the guys break down how the two shows stack up.

They also dig into reports that Shawn Michaels could take over Bruce Prichard's role leading WWE's creative writing and talent, what that would mean for NXT and how much of it is still rumor. Finally, they cover WWE Crown Jewel changing venues in Riyadh ahead of its November 7 date and what the move says about WWE's plans in Saudi Arabia.

0:10 [SPEAKER_01]: welcome back to take down. [SPEAKER_01]: I was telling Paul that we've been doing these Thursday shows and the WNBA season being over will help me get back into my Tuesday schedule, which I think we're planning to go back to Tuesday next week. [SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully we can do that. [SPEAKER_01]: Because we're going to have to preview the NXT and AEW head to head. [SPEAKER_01]: And we'll talk about that a little bit today. [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, [SPEAKER_01]: my Valkyries man. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to a game seven. [SPEAKER_01]: By the way, did you see how WWE got their name in the story for the WMBS schedule? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Jeff and I talked about that a little bit last night. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I, so what I understand was, is, so is the reason that the game is was being played at like noon?

0:51 [SPEAKER_00]: Is that today or tomorrow? [SPEAKER_00]: It was today. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, but it's because they couldn't get the arena at night [SPEAKER_01]: One of the contingency plans was to try and go on Friday. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: WWE is in Atlanta on Friday. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: So the idea was, well, can we go early and then we'll push WWE SmackDown a little bit later, like I think they would have to start maybe like a hour and a half later or something. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm thinking that it was still would have been an early game on Friday.

1:31 [SPEAKER_01]: But then the next game that the next day that they could have finished off the series because they would have had their coming back to California would have been Tuesday, which is election Tuesday, which is the same problem that WWE has with NXT so that that that was not the case and why couldn't they run tonight. [SPEAKER_01]: Because the Atlanta Hawks are the main tenant of that building. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so whatever they play. [SPEAKER_01]: So they played, okay, in state farm, which is the Atlanta Hawks building, but they played at noon. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, Eastern. [SPEAKER_00]: Would it like, in this case, I would think that the Atlanta Hawks could have moved.

2:17 [SPEAKER_00]: Like, this feels like it would have been a bigger deal for the dream, but I don't know, I don't know what it. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know the NBA side of it, but I think the excuse was that if the Hawks move their game and maybe they switched it to like a home in home, like they just changed who hosts the home game. [SPEAKER_01]: There's something with the travel on the back end that was difficult. [SPEAKER_01]: So maybe you can't maybe you wouldn't you would have to move something else as well. [SPEAKER_01]: And they could [SPEAKER_01]: you're talking about the hogs. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: They're they're they're going to take precedent.

2:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: As the main tenant of that building. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just thinking because I mean they the the Celtics played at like three o'clock in the afternoon last week on opening night. [SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, you know, like there there is precedence for teams playing in the afternoon, but yeah, it is like it's a bad look, you know, I mean, especially for you like you it's not a caught for you, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I've watched the game started at 930. [SPEAKER_00]: I was kind of kind of nice in a way, probably. [SPEAKER_00]: You just took the morning off. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I couldn't pay attention to it as much as I would have because I was working. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you could. [SPEAKER_01]: I still got the gist of the game. [SPEAKER_01]: And it was not a close game. [SPEAKER_01]: So the Valkyrie's kind of got smoked. [SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, this is pro wrestling.

3:39 [SPEAKER_01]: is kind of a secondary sport in comparison to the NBA and the NFL MLB NHL to an extent and the W NBA is trying to raise their level, right? [SPEAKER_01]: But Atlanta, they play. [SPEAKER_01]: at a college gym that only holds 3,500 people. [SPEAKER_01]: That's where they regularly play. [SPEAKER_01]: So when it came to the finals, they were like, we can't play in this 3,500 foot building attendance. [SPEAKER_01]: So let's move it to the big building, which they sold out by the way, the whole thing sold out, so they were able to put the feeling for a new game, even for a new game. [SPEAKER_01]: And but next year they are going to [SPEAKER_01]: And this is the part of the story that I don't think people realize is the reason why there's conflict right now is because the WNBA took a two week break because there's a feeble tournament for international play that they want to allow the women to play in.

4:44 [SPEAKER_01]: So they took a two week break and had they not take in that two week break. [SPEAKER_01]: The season would have already been over, like this wouldn't have even been a problem. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's the part of the story that I don't people understand. [SPEAKER_01]: And I think they just think that, you know, the NBA is flexing on the WNBA. [SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't supposed to be like this, but some of the, I'm, I would say the majority of the problem is this, the WNBA leadership is really bad. [SPEAKER_01]: And that commissioner is [SPEAKER_01]: leaving or being fired and it's hurt. [SPEAKER_00]: So they'll have, well, I mean, it is, I mean, to, you know, I mean, I mean, I know a little bit about the history of the WMBA. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I've been off-handed following in. [SPEAKER_00]: I've watched some documentaries and stuff.

5:24 [SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, they really owe their existence to the NBA. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, now they can survive on their own, but for 25 years, they couldn't. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, it's [SPEAKER_00]: It's it, you know, they're graduating to a point now where they, they don't need the NBA anymore, but it's it is kind of a bad look, but it's it kind of reminds you of back in the day when we were kids when, you know, the NBA would air on tape till they, you know, the finals. [SPEAKER_01]: I said, yeah, I think I want to say, [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it was the finals before 1984 where I'll take the lead. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, eight eight eight. [SPEAKER_00]: And he was 83.

6:06 [SPEAKER_00]: So I think the sixers were in a five finals that were that were taped the lead like I remember like in it and it was yeah, so it was like it would air like 11 o'clock at night my time. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, and, and, you know, and that, and then Jordan came and that changed everything. [SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, that was just a quick aside that I, I wanted to mention because I was, I thought it was kind of interesting that. [SPEAKER_01]: the WWE, the name got involved in there because of SmackDown and I mean, I'm sure they would have moved for money, but they, you know, they, they wouldn't need a lot of money in WWE. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think, I think what they were going to move for, and Nick Khan was up for it, and I think the reason is because they, um, they want to be a nice partner, of course.

6:53 [SPEAKER_01]: But, [SPEAKER_01]: You know, there would be their name would be in, in, in, in, you know, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in the, in [SPEAKER_01]: the Saudi show, the crown jewel, that they moved venues, and I thought that reason to move venues was pretty, funny to me, maybe, but not to the people there, obviously, they've got to be freaking out going out of their mind that they're still going to the show.

7:38 [SPEAKER_01]: But it got moved to an indoor facility. [SPEAKER_01]: And, [SPEAKER_01]: I guess the argument for moving it indoors is that it's safer, which I don't understand. [SPEAKER_01]: And so, of course, everybody is thinking of 1991, that's many seven. [SPEAKER_01]: And I just... [SPEAKER_01]: wrote about this in my in my sub stack. [SPEAKER_01]: That was my first post in the sub stack. [SPEAKER_01]: I bought I have the domain set up. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's just the cool check in dot com. [SPEAKER_01]: You can find my stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: And I wrote about the Valkyries as well. [SPEAKER_01]: But so I was trying to remember because the reason why new about Rustlemania 7 is because I was reading Dave in the national back that.

8:28 [SPEAKER_01]: So they had announced on television that I had sort of caught on because they were talking about like seeding or something. [SPEAKER_01]: And I knew that the LA Coliseum was like 100,000 people you could fit in there. [SPEAKER_01]: And when they were talking about WrestleMania 7 and the venue and 15,000 people, I was like, [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, they must not have sold that many tickets to move it into that building. [SPEAKER_01]: And that was just my 15-year-old brain or whatever. [SPEAKER_01]: And so then reading Dave back then, he said that their reasoning or at least the reasoning that they were going to feed the fans was that it was a security risk to hold the show outdoors because of sergeant slaughter and the Iraqi sympathizer angle that they were doing.

9:21 [SPEAKER_01]: And even back then, I was like, well, that's dumb. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you can bomb anything that is, or you can have a gunman enter any building. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, what does the outdoor versus indoor have to do with it at all? [SPEAKER_01]: And so now they're kind of using the same excuse again, which I don't think necessarily flies. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I guess it would be easier to hit someone from the air, you know, I suppose. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, slightly easier, but I mean, if you've got security, they're monitoring drones and stuff like that. [SPEAKER_00]: Right, right, right. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's funny, it's I've always said that I wasn't aware of Meltzer until like, [SPEAKER_00]: Really late in the game like late 90s early 2000 something like that and but when you mentioned this I do remember back in 91 You know, I was I was just a fan, you know, like I read the wrestling magazines and I watched the shows and I didn't I wasn't aware of dirt sheets or or anything like that, but I do remember reading in the newspaper about this [SPEAKER_00]: and reading that, you know, like knowing that WWE's excuse or WWF's excuse at the time was bullshet and reading about a reading reported and it must have been Dave's reporting that the sports section were picking up on.

10:41 [SPEAKER_00]: you know that now that you know putting the pieces together so that's probably where you know and I maybe his name was even mentioned and you know it just didn't register to me because I didn't know who it was and you know they met in the national and I was aware of the national so I and I think I even bought a couple issues when I was in the states at different times so I probably even read Dave at the time you know just not realizing who it was or anything you know right thinking it was cool that there's poor wrestling in a you know sports magazine [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, but yeah, it was, yeah, obviously that's what everyone thought of. [SPEAKER_00]: I do think that like there's probably something to, you know, maybe not having, like maybe having a smaller group of people together too.

11:25 [SPEAKER_00]: You know, as opposed to maybe it's 10,000 as opposed to like 25, like I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I doubt it was ticket sales. [SPEAKER_00]: That's all I'm saying. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't think they moved for ticket sales. [SPEAKER_00]: I could be wrong, but I don't I don't see that. [SPEAKER_00]: That would be a priority for them. [SPEAKER_00]: Like they that building can be full no matter what they'll give the tickets away. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't they don't really care. [SPEAKER_00]: It's not about making money for them. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, all right. [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, we'll preview, excuse me. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll preview this show next week. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and you know, it's by next week. [SPEAKER_01]: It could have moved again and something may change. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: But if a cannellos fighting in what two days.

12:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And he's there and he's there that hasn't been moved. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm assuming that WWE is definitely full go unless something crazy happens. [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't want to see that because then that means something happened to the Canelo show. [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm hopeful that nothing happens and that at this point, they just go, because the only thing that will stop them is some sort of go that being further tragedy, you're told that they can't go. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, I, yeah, unless they're told they can't go, they're going. [SPEAKER_00]: Like that, that's pretty clear. [SPEAKER_01]: I was reading Dan Rafeel on Twitter and he's the boxing guy.

12:45 [SPEAKER_01]: And he said that he got a, uh, he just had received a warning from, um, somebody who is in reod and they got an emergency warning alert on their phone. [SPEAKER_01]: And it said the city of reod is under hostile aerial threat. [SPEAKER_01]: Please remain calm, stay indoors or in a safe place away from windows and doors and follow the instructions of civil defense. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the, that's the alert that they're getting [SPEAKER_01]: and that's what WWE's going into. [SPEAKER_01]: Wow. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: What is your number four? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, my number five, a little less serious, I suppose.

13:26 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so it's, uh, the, it's, uh, so I think we talked about it last week because we did this on Thursday. [SPEAKER_00]: This, um, J. [SPEAKER_00]: White's, uh, group, I'll call it J. [SPEAKER_00]: White's group for, you know, lack of a better word. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the amalgamation of the bang bang gang and and the dogs. [SPEAKER_00]: And they hit. [SPEAKER_00]: So if you watch, if all you watch is dynamite, and I know a lot of times that's all you watch, right? [SPEAKER_01]: And you're probably, yeah, you know, it's it's rare that I watch collision if I'm not having to cover it. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: And there's a lot of people like you, I'm sure. [SPEAKER_00]: And so if you just watch dynamite last week, and then you tune in this week, like all you know is that these two groups bound it together, [SPEAKER_00]: And they're, you know, and they're together now and they're a new heel group, but we don't know we didn't know their name.

14:14 [SPEAKER_00]: And then on collision, Jay White does a 15-minute promo at the beginning of the show. [SPEAKER_00]: And he announces that his group is now called the last outfit. [SPEAKER_00]: And throughout the show, they said the last outfit, probably about 100 times. [SPEAKER_00]: And then on Dynamite, the show kicks off. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's the death riders against the cut. [SPEAKER_00]: it's like the cut and it's like when when did this happen and because I mean I watch everything and you know and and I guess it happened on social media or something um and uh I just found it really funny that they changed their name before anybody even knew they had a name.

14:54 [SPEAKER_00]: or a lot of people even knew they had a name, which is funny, but if you only watch Dynamite, then you're like, oh, they're just the cup. [SPEAKER_00]: But when did they become the cup? [SPEAKER_00]: That's the thing. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I guess yeah, for the people that only watch Dynamite, it's not quite as bad in a sense, because yeah, okay, now they have a name. [SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know why it seems like such a natural [SPEAKER_00]: Since John Moxie's group is named after his finisher, why not call me wonder. [SPEAKER_00]: I wonder if there's an IP situation could be in and that's probably why they can't be the bullet club either and he did tease calling themselves a bullet club.

15:36 [SPEAKER_00]: I guess New Japan owns a name. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm although I from what I understand, like they probably wouldn't care to fade. [SPEAKER_00]: W used it, but maybe a W wanted their own IP, like I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: and then maybe they probably couldn't sell the shirts. [SPEAKER_00]: I do like the cut a little bit better. [SPEAKER_00]: I think they're both kind of weak, but I do like the cut a lot better. [SPEAKER_00]: It sounds a little cooler. [SPEAKER_00]: Reminds me of like, sounds of anarchy. [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's what they refer to like the outfits they wear, like they call the cut. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's interesting, but I do like the group. [SPEAKER_00]: And I like what they've done so far. [SPEAKER_00]: I think the feud with the death riot is really hot. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, and uh, you know, and I like what they did last night. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, although I don't like that the the the world title match, like the women's world title match was more or less just a backdrop for this feud.

16:25 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, that feels like a bit of a step back, but other, other than that, it's, it's pretty good what they've been doing. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: My next one is related to this because the cut, yeah, is going to be in the, uh, anarchy match, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: So in the last paper view, we had the clockwork match. [SPEAKER_01]: And so that was a gimmick match as a main event. [SPEAKER_01]: And then next week, we're going to have two blood and guts matches. [SPEAKER_01]: And then a week and a half after that, we're having an anarchy in the arena match.

17:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Yep. [SPEAKER_01]: So that's four gimmick matches on your three biggest shows five, you know, out of your forgetting what's the little Texas death. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they haven't announced it. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, hey, have it. [SPEAKER_00]: Texas death that that's another one. [SPEAKER_01]: I was mostly thinking of like house similar and are in the arena and blood and guts are with the multi-man teams and say okay and like look it from a business standpoint if that works and if it sells and if [SPEAKER_01]: You know, they sell tickets and they get viewers and they sell paper views partially because then completely find like I'm all for it as a viewer for me having two blood and guts matches and an anarchy in arena is absolute overkill and you know I would even say the clockwork match.

18:01 [SPEAKER_01]: being that it was a gimmick match, these other matches or gimmick matches, you know, leans a little bit too hard. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about the Osprey and and Fletcher match later, because I kind of, I mean, of course that match is going to be fantastic. [SPEAKER_01]: That's not sure if it's the right time for that match, but we'll talk about that. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's a, they have 12 paper views to fill, I guess, or 11 or whatever it is. [SPEAKER_01]: And I guess that's the reason, [SPEAKER_01]: When was the last time we had an anarchy in your arena? [SPEAKER_00]: I want to say it might have been last year's Wembley, like Wembley arena show, but like the forbindoor maybe.

18:44 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just guessing it's been a while, I think. [SPEAKER_00]: We were we at the first one ever, I think so that was 2023. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: 22. [SPEAKER_00]: 22. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'll all in or don't sorry, um, double. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: That's right. [SPEAKER_00]: Because they had done stadium stampede during the pandemic because they were running at at the Jaguar Stadium next door to daily's place. [SPEAKER_00]: So they would they would tape it the night before and and then run it during the paper view with when they didn't have very many fans in the building and then when they actually built it with fans. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, then they did anarchy. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that was so it looks like it's been a double or nothing staple.

19:25 [SPEAKER_01]: They had it at double or nothing in a 22 23 24 25 not this year. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: So I was wrong about about 26 and that must be a stadium stampede that they didn't 26 or 25. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean. [SPEAKER_00]: stadium stampede was at double or nothing 2026 at the at the Louis Armstrong right okay okay i thought they did something like that at one of the wimbley shows but it might maybe it was stadium stampede and not anarchy in the arena they did one stadium stampede at all in in 2020 okay that's what i'm remembering okay all right and yeah people confuse the two matches because i mean they're basically the same match [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the difference with anarchy, I think anarchy is where they do the music, like they'll play the music for like the first, you know, 10 minutes of the match and you know get everyone all fired up.

20:14 [SPEAKER_00]: We were in the building for, you know, when they played Final Countdown. [SPEAKER_00]: And, and I think they did Judas for one of them, and then there was the one where did they do like Hanson or something? [SPEAKER_01]: Kenny Omega, making goofy face to the music. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, always good. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, again, if this is if it works out for business smart decision, yeah, as a fan, I'm a little bit overwhelmed with the super violent matches, but that is also just the AW product that, you know, I have to deal with John Johnson our chat brought this up last night where they, you know, because he says, like, are they doing is it kind of overkill.

20:55 [SPEAKER_00]: like to where you're, you know, you just keep doing more and more and and then what's left, you know, I kind of agree with that in a sense, and that's such a number one, like just overloading with so much of this violence. [SPEAKER_00]: And I did see someone suggesting that this could be a strategy by them to counteract WWE's war games. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, see, you overload the product, you know, with the blood and guts and anarchy and the renal that and then, you know, and WWE's going to come back with war games, which will undoubtedly be a lot tamer than anything any of these that WWE matches. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I know for sure. [SPEAKER_00]: But I think that the WWE hard course will look at it like, oh, it's just, you know, much of wrestling.

21:41 [SPEAKER_00]: And it's, you know, they're just mutilating themselves but we'll let, look at us. [SPEAKER_00]: We're so polished and we have this great story telling and we'll blow me while the WWE fan will look at the WWE version and say, I'd sanitize, it's Roman Reigns, you know, doing monologues and it's just, you know, it's garbage and it's boring and how can anybody watch it? [SPEAKER_01]: that with this 946 group. [SPEAKER_01]: They are dialing up the violet. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't imagine that we're going to see blood. [SPEAKER_01]: They'll maybe we will. [SPEAKER_01]: But you know that we're getting multiple juice on blood and guts and we'll get multiple juice in this man. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And and and Texas death, you know, will we'll probably have even more.

22:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, so, um, is anything Texas death related in your top five? [SPEAKER_00]: Um, well, I mean, it was like, it was, again, it was all part of my number one. [SPEAKER_00]: Like just, uh, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's, let's save the Texas death discussion for your number one. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because it, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So my number four was just a couple things from last night. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll just kind of loop them together. [SPEAKER_00]: I, that I thought was interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: And, and the first one I'll mention is just, and I know you didn't see it. [SPEAKER_00]: uh, because uh, you know, it aired when, you know, your hulu thought to show was over. [SPEAKER_00]: And I thought to show those over. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: That two is at two hours and three minutes. [SPEAKER_01]: Darby had just won the match and I was like, Oh, great. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: The show is over.

23:04 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, done. [SPEAKER_00]: They went to commercial and I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_00]: Like most people, if they're watching the show live. [SPEAKER_00]: If I, [SPEAKER_00]: I'm watching a show live and what I think is the main event is over. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to probably turn to like, oh, let's see what basketball games on or a hockey game or whatever. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm going to switch to a channel or maybe a drama that I want to watch is starting at top of the hour. [SPEAKER_00]: 10 o'clock Eastern nine my time. [SPEAKER_00]: And no, they mean they had a main event. [SPEAKER_00]: And it was as Queen Aminata and Persephone. [SPEAKER_00]: And I kind of thought earlier in the show when once the Derby match started, I thought, oh, okay, the Persephone matches the main event. [SPEAKER_00]: We're probably getting a title change. [SPEAKER_00]: and and sure enough we did and I really liked like the match itself was good um I wasn't quite as good as the I mean the Derby match was just insane you know and and it was just you know I don't know how long that I can keep going but it's just all I'm in here for it.

24:00 [SPEAKER_00]: But the match was good and then the end of the match when she won, it was like her reaction, it was almost as if it was real. [SPEAKER_00]: Like her, she just like, all of a sudden she just started shaking and she was so happy and it was almost like she couldn't believe that person he hadn't kicked out. [SPEAKER_00]: And then Aubrey went and got her the belt and and was holding and handing a tour and you could kind of see on Aubrey's face like she was so happy from an auto, but she was trying to keep character and just be serious and then the the baby face locker room emptied all the women came out and they were cheering for I'd say like most of the women there were like super happy and legitimately happy like [SPEAKER_00]: I did look at my world and think she's looking at her like this, if I wasn't hurt, this would probably be me.

24:55 [SPEAKER_00]: But other than that, it was like, you know, maybe that's just me speculating, but she didn't look quite as happy as the rest of them. [SPEAKER_00]: But it was, it was a really, really nice memorable moment and and to think where she started, you know, let's just start it basically as a driver. [SPEAKER_00]: and worked her way up, and you know, and I know she's been a favorite of yours for a long time. [SPEAKER_00]: So I really like that. [SPEAKER_00]: And then the other thing I really stood out to me on the show was the segment with Ilya Dragonoff and Tomasso Champa. [SPEAKER_00]: And [SPEAKER_00]: What I thought was hilarious about this was I'm watching this segment and then Trump even references their angle on SmackDown at the end of the segment by calling Elliot a jackass because that was the impetus for if you remember on SmackDown, Dragon Off was the US champion, Trump wanted a title match and he said, I won't defend because you're a jackass.

25:47 [SPEAKER_00]: and then even uh uh Gargano and Candice Loray had shirts don't call my friend to jackass and it was this stupid angle they never actually paid off the match and now here we are on dynamite we're actually going to get the match I maybe it'll be on collision maybe on paper. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know but it'll be in a w [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm watching these two guys in there and the fans that are in the building are just treating these two guys like the biggest stars in the world. [SPEAKER_00]: They're so excited for this match. [SPEAKER_00]: They're screaming. [SPEAKER_00]: They're loving it. [SPEAKER_00]: And I saw these people peacocking on Twitter and it's like, oh, look at this and look at the difference between this and they put screen side by side with them on SmackDown. [SPEAKER_00]: And the funny thing is, is the WWE fans will look at this and they'll say, [SPEAKER_00]: Look at the building with all the women and kids in the crowd and there's 10,000 people in the building.

26:33 [SPEAKER_00]: And here you've got 3,000 sickos going up. [SPEAKER_00]: And so both sides are like thinking this is a flex. [SPEAKER_01]: And me, I'm just happy to see the match. [SPEAKER_01]: 3,000 versus 10. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I mean, I get it. [SPEAKER_01]: I get why you can dunk, but [SPEAKER_01]: Why should the modern wrestling fan care who is at an event that they are not at? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, I mean, I guess it's kind of like, it's kind of like the big leagues versus the minor leagues, I guess, like is what they're saying. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I mean, obviously, but why does that matter if they're not in the building?

27:19 [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: I guess it's maybe there it may be what they're saying is it's easier to get 3,000 fans excited than it would be to get 10,000 fans excited. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I'm just speculating again. [SPEAKER_00]: I did it is it is rare that WWE crowd is is that hot for a man true. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly and and maybe if they were performing in front of 3,000 they would be I don't know [SPEAKER_00]: Probably not actually did they get that hot for NXT. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, they would have been even hotter if it was Trump and and dragon often NXT. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, like dragon half was a god over there. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, God, they react for grace and wallet in NXT.

27:59 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, so maybe that's it, maybe right there, but again, like it's it's silly, like, you know, and for even for, you know, like, I think just be happy you're getting to see the match and enjoy it. [SPEAKER_00]: And I am sure most people are it's just to compare it to you're opening yourself up. [SPEAKER_00]: That's all I'm saying when you when you compare it, you show the size of kind of all in actuality. [SPEAKER_00]: What you're showing is both these guys are kind of in the same position. [SPEAKER_00]: Only one fan base is reacting a lot better to them than the other one was. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's, that's, that's, but again, let's, again, let's, let's, let's even talk about the word position. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Does the, does the casual wrestling fan care about position in, in, in a ranking or, [SPEAKER_01]: Like should that matter?

28:46 [SPEAKER_01]: Like who cares? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I guess if you're fighting for a title, I suppose. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that would be the only guy. [SPEAKER_00]: And they were notes on a title. [SPEAKER_00]: They weren't in fact down. [SPEAKER_00]: So I guess you could even make the sense that they're better positioned over there. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I would be a dumb argument, but you could make that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think it would be a fine argument. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I guess some of this stuff is all gay keeping. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's all what I like is better than what you like and it's all so meaningless I mean like like the there's fandom I get the fandom piece of it and I'm not even defending a w here a w side can be just as bad maybe not as You know not as [SPEAKER_01]: dirt baggy, but, you know, there's the fan base that they stick their nose up in the air and think that that product is holier than now as well, which is fine, but I guess my point is we are in a place in current in the way that we we watch content, right?

29:57 [SPEAKER_01]: You don't watch content and go, you know what? [SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna watch every NBC show because I'm just a fan of NBC. [SPEAKER_01]: You watch the things that you like, which are all across the board. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't go on Netflix and go, you know what? [SPEAKER_01]: I like this Netflix show. [SPEAKER_01]: So thus, I'm going to give this other Netflix show, a chance if I don't have interested in it. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you just watch what you wanna watch. [SPEAKER_01]: And so, [SPEAKER_01]: you know, I think WWE does a really good job at like making it like the home team, your home wrestling team. [SPEAKER_01]: But I don't watch wrestling like I watch my baseball team like my baseball team is my local team.

30:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like there are roots in my in my area where I live, where these people will come for like that kind of thing. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think I think the [SPEAKER_00]: All of that tribalism is like I've gotten to the point where I'm thinking about, you know, like, it's crossed my mind, like, do I really want to be watching all of what I watch and should I just pick and choose what I want to watch? [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I suppose to like, I have to watch all of it. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, [SPEAKER_00]: You know, and and yeah, and I don't think I'd pick a team quote unquote. [SPEAKER_00]: I think I would just pick and choose what I want to watch if if that's how I decided to watch I'm not there yet, but at some point I probably will be you know if I ever decide to wind down this podcast and thing that's that's what I'll do like I won't watch as much as I do But as it is right now, you know, like this was a good week.

31:24 [SPEAKER_00]: I think both both companies gave me good stuff. [SPEAKER_01]: So HBK is in the news. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah [SPEAKER_01]: So Bruce Pritchard is winding his career down and the word on the street is that Sean Michaels. [SPEAKER_01]: It looks like he's going to get his position and I'll just read what Brian Alvarez wrote. [SPEAKER_01]: He said as of right now, it looks like Shawn Michaels replacing Bruce Richard and AJ Styles getting his NXT role is the most likely scenario. [SPEAKER_01]: It is believed there will be other NXT office changes in 2027 as well. [SPEAKER_01]: Depending on what she wants to do with her career, Bailey could very well end up involved.

32:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_01]: Monk may also have more input. [SPEAKER_01]: It is also believe the ID program will get a fresh coat of paint in early 2027 as well. [SPEAKER_00]: I could see Bailey being put in charge of the ID program. [SPEAKER_00]: I could see because that involves going to these shows and even being on a lot of these shows. [SPEAKER_00]: And that seems to be something that Bailey would like. [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe even like a nanny. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, could get involved with that as well and it's certainly in the training. [SPEAKER_00]: I wonder too, and obviously your article doesn't say it, but it's something I speculate and with AJ involved. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't, to me that doesn't seem like the greatest of fits for him, but I think that there's definitely something he could offer, but he'd need some help with the creative.

32:51 [SPEAKER_00]: And I wonder if that could also involve bringing Jeremy Borough on board into the actual NXT. [SPEAKER_00]: And I imagine him and AJ have a relationship going back to TNA, you know, because Borough was there from the beginning. [SPEAKER_00]: and and they would probably work really well together I would think that's just pure speculation on my part You know kind of like what he's doing in AAA right now with the undertaker You know where undertaker gets a lot of the credit, but from what I every everybody talk to it's most of what you like is probably Jeremy Borges ideas [SPEAKER_00]: that, you know, undertaker is green lighting and obviously giving his input as well. [SPEAKER_00]: I think there's some of the stuff that's going on there is clearly undertaker, you know, has got his finger on because it's right out of his playbook, but the day-to-day stuff, I can't imagine, undertaker's stripping out, you know, Mark Halloway is script-scripting out these shows or anything, like, that's probably borrash.

33:45 [SPEAKER_00]: But that's like a memory. [SPEAKER_01]: Remember when the storyline in WWE was DX, the older version of DX Sean and Triple H against Vince McMahon and they were doing everything to make Vince McMahon's life hell. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep, 2005, Spirit Squad. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, we're back. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I now will say I've been to DJ. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, this does not feel like a great fit for Sean Michaels. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I, [SPEAKER_00]: he seems to be the guy that just wants to be behind the scenes and try not to make any waves and just do his thing. [SPEAKER_00]: But and the thing is like I would also say the NXT product with him in charge is not been great.

34:32 [SPEAKER_00]: I like I watch it, but you know, it's got its moments, but yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: or why it's I think he's just getting old and he's dealing with some injuries and there's there's a neck injury that Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that he's dealing with that may have come from like 40 years ago. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and all the first lying almost 40 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so I can't I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and uh, Paul seems to have frozen here. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, and I'm for you. [SPEAKER_00]: It was like both. [SPEAKER_01]: He's his the visual that you're seeing right now if you're watching us on YouTube.

35:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, his Paul's mouth half open and he is trying to say something, but it's like he cannot get the words out. [SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see if Paul comes back here in a second, but wow, Paul is his thing back. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess the other thing I want to say about Sean and this AJ news is it is, um, [SPEAKER_01]: It is so interesting to see how you can have these.

35:54 [SPEAKER_01]: very smart, and I'll say, like Nick Con, business guy, Mark's your Mark's Bureau business guy. [SPEAKER_01]: These guys are kind of running the day to day business, and yet the guys who are running the wrestling side triple eight Shawn Michaels are guys who have done it in the ring and obviously triple eight has been Vince McMahon's under study for ever now. [SPEAKER_01]: Shawn Michaels has been involved now for a long time. [SPEAKER_01]: But it's just so weird that the future of wrestling in 2026, 2027 into the future, is at the hands of guys who are in their mid-50s.

36:41 [SPEAKER_01]: And when you're trying to reach young people, which is the goal of all of these companies, [SPEAKER_01]: The idea of reaching young people is creative headed by old wrestlers from the 90s and the 2000s. [SPEAKER_01]: And like this is not to to to to demerit Sean or triple H or Paul Paul it is just to say that. [SPEAKER_01]: in a lot of these scenarios when it comes to leadership in companies and in the companies of when you're trying to draw younger people. [SPEAKER_01]: It's all old people who supposedly are the ones who have these ideas and need the ideas to reach the younger people.

37:22 [SPEAKER_01]: It's fascinating to me that the goal is always we need to draw young fans and so let's [SPEAKER_01]: put the guy in charge who had matches in in 1999, like that's just wild to me. [SPEAKER_01]: But you know, I'm not saying that that's a wrong thing or a right thing because wrestling itself when it comes to the superstars, you know, it's pretty old as it is. [SPEAKER_01]: So am I back now? [SPEAKER_00]: You are back. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Good. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I just hooked onto my VPN. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what happened there. [SPEAKER_00]: But I was actually like completely offline for a second. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: What is your number three? [SPEAKER_00]: My number three is the, and I mentioned this one the thing started, but we're almost at the end now, so I figured it deserves another mention.

38:02 [SPEAKER_00]: The Dusty Cup, and and now I'm going to tie this in with something else too. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, we got to the finals now, and we had the last two semi-final matches on Tuesday night, and I just watched them today, and both matches were like pretty great. [SPEAKER_00]: Darmarano are like the new Fraxium and they were against the you know the former swipe right part of the vanity project and they had a great little match and then the and then the Hank and Hank won over the triplet hiking champions Galeno and and El Hildel Dr. Wagner Jr [SPEAKER_00]: And another, just a fun match, you know, big guy, you know, me and guy match, and now they're going to have the finals of Hank and Tank against Darmorano.

38:50 [SPEAKER_00]: And I just think that the matches they've been having, like with all the talk about the AW tag team division, like, they're really having some fun, like good matches, like, I wouldn't say this is anywhere close to like the Bucks and Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight. [SPEAKER_00]: But I would watch that Darmarino again, swipe right match like 10 times more than I will watch another FTR motor sedan machine. [SPEAKER_00]: Not that those matches are bad, but you know, they're good, but they're just kind of boring. [SPEAKER_00]: And this was fun and exciting. [SPEAKER_00]: And [SPEAKER_00]: They have some things that they do in every one of their matches like Darmarino. [SPEAKER_00]: They always have a spot where they kind of clunk heads because they're going so fast that they run into each other and then there's always like just an amazing safe at some time when you're least expecting it like you think the match is over and then there's a safe and then they get the win at the end and they're just like they just got the formula down and this freaking [SPEAKER_00]: If they don't screw it up, and I will say they probably will, but if they don't screw it up, this guy could be a major star someday.

39:55 [SPEAKER_00]: But I just, they're going to screw it up, like, because they, they just never do anything right. [SPEAKER_00]: But I, I really liked it. [SPEAKER_00]: But the funny thing is, is during this match, they, they promoted or during these finals, they promoted that next week, Cody Rhodes is going to be presenting the, the winner of the Dusty Cup. [SPEAKER_00]: And of course, that's a show that's going to be going head to head with dynamite. [SPEAKER_00]: I watched a Netflix. [SPEAKER_00]: they never once mentioned on Netflix that this show is airing on Wednesday, which there were spots in the show where I'm sure that if you watch it on the CW, they were promoting Wednesday and you had data. [SPEAKER_00]: So for some reason, Netflix was editing out any mention of the show airing on Wednesday.

40:40 [SPEAKER_00]: So my first thought was, well, maybe they're going to be airing on Tuesday and that's why they're not [SPEAKER_00]: but the show is live on Wednesday. [SPEAKER_00]: So I have no idea why Netflix was editing out the show deliberately to remove any reference of Wednesday. [SPEAKER_00]: I have no idea. [SPEAKER_00]: It's the most bizarre thing in the world. [SPEAKER_00]: And if you're only watching on Netflix, you're going to probably tune in next Tuesday and wonder, why an ex-teason on. [SPEAKER_01]: It's so weird. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: So what do you think about Cody and Sina being on the show? [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, obviously they're doing it's trying her to AWS ratings. [SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, I don't think it's going to I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Are they trying to? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they they as well.

41:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, they're not eating, but they're trying to draw like that. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: They're the ones on the different day. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: So they're, yeah, they're, I mean, you can look at it either way. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's more about helping NXT than it is about hurting a W, as opposed to a W, you know, what, I mean, obviously they did the same thing. [SPEAKER_00]: They put a world title match on free television that easily could have had a line of pay per view. [SPEAKER_00]: And they got a much better number than you probably would have expected in that situation. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, they, they almost tied NXT being on an unfamiliar night with a tape show, so, um, you know, it worked in that sense. [SPEAKER_00]: And if a, if NXT does anything close to their regular number on a, on a four night against Dynamite, then it worked as well.

42:03 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think they're going to do a million viewers or anything like that, but I think the goal is probably to maintain their audience. [SPEAKER_00]: And if they can get 600,000 and a point one two, then that they probably consider that a win. [SPEAKER_00]: would be my guess. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's good. [SPEAKER_00]: They also kind of teased. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think it was announced, but I would be surprised if it is announced. [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like we're maybe getting a colony against EOS guy match. [SPEAKER_00]: They did, they did a segment on the show to kind of hint at that match coming and colony was on raw. [SPEAKER_01]: She was she was on raw for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: It's looking like a million bucks. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And the funny thing is, they had shallow on there, too, and they didn't even talk about. [SPEAKER_00]: and exceeded oh there's there's shallow hill that dude is whacked man he did a video on NXT that if you watch anything from the show like maybe watch that because he is he's out there man he's explaining the psychology behind mist and and he's at the end of it he he says I don't know what kind of mist you got but you know what kind of I got and then you know what's on blue mist in the camera and it's like oh my god he's going to a little mist at evil let's get me fun [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, that's Halloween night.

43:07 [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, it's uh, yeah, they got a show coming. [SPEAKER_00]: I've nobody's talking about it. [SPEAKER_00]: Nobody's going to watch it. [SPEAKER_00]: But is it so it's on Halloween night, uh, what time eight o'clock Eastern I think. [SPEAKER_00]: I was going to head with the WMBA finals and uh, what I thought was over. [SPEAKER_01]: No, game seven. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: And and and also collision. [SPEAKER_01]: collision. [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and you'll see. [SPEAKER_01]: What is that UFC card? [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know say he picks. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: I should know. [SPEAKER_00]: I Yeah, I couldn't even I couldn't even guess without looking it up. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure it's two two guys that you've never heard of that are top 10 contenders would be my guess.

43:53 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember that you have them ever show that's yeah if it's not a paper you yeah that's what it is Yeah, I feel like it's like two guys with names that you know that you think you know, but they're like actually less famous version of the same name Like yeah, but anyways, yeah, so yeah, it's they're dead in the water, but I'm sure the show will be fine my number two Was my favorite match of the week Which was Bailey and Lyra from raw [SPEAKER_01]: They had their, uh, no-deak-minded man to his well, by the way. [SPEAKER_01]: They're no-deak-you match and I wasn't worried about anyone hitting their head.

44:35 [SPEAKER_01]: though there were some dangerous spots of people falling on chairs and the side of things and their backs and stuff that was a little bothersome. [SPEAKER_01]: They didn't need blood to get their point across that this was just a ferocious battle between these two women and I thought that they did an awesome job in this match. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, we've been talking about how [SPEAKER_01]: On, on raw, they do the one lucha match with Chad Gable and it's always like the best match on the show and that version of that match was not that great. [SPEAKER_01]: But Lyron Bailey picked up the slack there and I thought like these women are amazing, like great job for both of them.

45:17 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they built, I mean, they built this up for months and you know, and it was I assume the blow off although I suppose they could do what another step match because they were promising a step match that we hadn't seen in [SPEAKER_00]: in years for, you know, from women and then they said no DQ and it's like, I feel like we see that quite often, but so unless there's something else that's coming, but yeah, I thought the match was great. [SPEAKER_00]: I, some of the, like, there's like the elbow through the table, which is perfect. [SPEAKER_01]: like the camera angle was amazing too. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And it was one of those things where like as soon as she goes up to do it, you just figure out all of something's going to happen.

45:58 [SPEAKER_00]: She's going to fall off some of these uh gonna interfere or you know she's going to roll off the table but not she just set up the table to hit the move and yeah it's how it should happen and rolls her into the ring and finishes her and it's like wow okay that's cool. [SPEAKER_01]: I think the other thing about that spot is [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it was because of the angle, but it looked like that table was further out than it was. [SPEAKER_01]: So when she goes the top rope, I'm like, she's going to be able to reach her, but then she reached her very easily. [SPEAKER_01]: So it was like, it was just whatever that that angle, it just made it look so far away. [SPEAKER_00]: And it was cool to the way she did it like she went goes under the table. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I don't think I've seen that before, like to get to the other side, because I guess she wanted that better angle, because she had gone from the side she was on.

46:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then I think there was another spot where there was a dive to the outside that looked really great too. [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, the, you know, not only in the ring, but just the camera shots and stuff that. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And the spots all look like you said they looked safe. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think anybody got hurt, hopefully. [SPEAKER_00]: But. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, and, but it mean the actual like the real emotion that they were one of, like they were nonstop, like I think the match went 18 minutes and there was no, they very little dead time, because even like their spots were like Bailey was setting things up and every time that happened, Lyra recovered and got to her. [SPEAKER_00]: So it was like, that's a pet peeve of mine and matches like this where people take time to set things up and the other one just sits around and does nothing and waits for it and here that wasn't happening.

47:24 [SPEAKER_00]: So they, they were constantly moving. [SPEAKER_00]: And I liked that a lot. [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, it was a very good match and a fitting blow off. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think a lot of people were wondering because this was in Bailey's backyard, so to speak, Northern California. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe this is like the blow off or something, but the fact that she won, [SPEAKER_00]: I'm guessing she probably resigned and I haven't listened to Zerberadio. [SPEAKER_00]: I imagine Dave probably touched on it, but you know, there was Everyone, they had said a couple months ago that she had agreed to turn, but hadn't decided. [SPEAKER_01]: They didn't mention anything on wrestling radio, but Brian's quote about Bailey helping at NXT. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: that that that that could that could be that could be part of what they're getting to get her son and quite honestly I thought I had the same thought watching on a not a win the TNT title because she had tweeted out earlier this year that her contract was up later this year and she didn't know she was going to get injury time added on and I thought we you know maybe this was you know maybe this part of the negotiations or maybe this is them throwing her bone and saying we we like you were behind you we want you to stay you know and you know and if that's [SPEAKER_00]: And you know what they are.

48:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Bailey obviously has a lot to give you know she can she could do a match like this that's the best match on the show that was actually a pretty good show overall like I thought you know I other than I hated the finish of the main event but the rest of the show was was pretty good by raw standards and by any standards really and they had the best match on the show so that kudos to them. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, my number one is they announced it on Dynamite, the main event to full gear is Will Osprey and Kyle Fletcher. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, that match is gonna be great. [SPEAKER_01]: Those guys are great. [SPEAKER_01]: No, any day of the week, that's what the Submar key match.

49:16 [SPEAKER_01]: And my wonder is about Kyle Fletcher, [SPEAKER_01]: getting the match now. [SPEAKER_01]: Because he feels like a top guy. [SPEAKER_01]: He looks like a top guy. [SPEAKER_01]: He's already lost on pay per view to the baby face champion last year. [SPEAKER_01]: And that was kind of the match that put him at this echelon, this upper echelon. [SPEAKER_01]: So now he's going to go for number two, [SPEAKER_01]: And he's most likely going to lose this match. [SPEAKER_01]: Though he's always going to have in his back pocket. [SPEAKER_01]: He and will both, they're going to have a five star match at no doubt about it.

50:01 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if this is the right time for like I just assume, maybe this is my own short side, didn't this? [SPEAKER_01]: That the next time we saw Kyle Fletcher in a main event for title, he would win it. [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't think that this is the time. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, no, Jeff actually made that exact same point last night on our show and and I agree like it doesn't feel like it feels like he should be like I honestly think it feels like he should be the next world champion, but not necessarily right now and I honestly don't think he will be I feel I feel like the next world champions probably going to be mjf or possibly swerve and you know and so putting Kyle in this position.

50:48 [SPEAKER_00]: The other thing I have, I have a bit of an issue with this match is, yeah, they announced the match last night, but all the promotion from last night was on the attacking the arena match and the Texas death match, which is even signed yet, but they devoted a lot of time at that. [SPEAKER_00]: And even, I would say the Mercedes marina match got more push than this match, which basically just got Kyle Fletcher challenging him and will wasn't even there, but they just announced, oh yeah, the match is signed. [SPEAKER_00]: Obviously next week, button guts will get more built to that match. [SPEAKER_00]: theoretically, traditional booking would say that Kyle Fletcher would probably get the pin for his team or the submission, I should say, for his team and to get the win.

51:35 [SPEAKER_00]: I suppose you could also do Coplan getting a submission over Ocata, would be another logical finish, but it kind of has to be the heels winning. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, so it kind of, it's kind of the same thing that was going on with Hangman when he was championed. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's like, his matches aren't the most important thing [SPEAKER_00]: Um, that's the issue I have, but yeah, you know, it's going to be great. [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm sure the topic of conversation after this matches, you know, he got something out of it and he's bigger star than he was going into it. [SPEAKER_01]: I just don't want to see him lose. [SPEAKER_01]: That's that's right. [SPEAKER_01]: I said, no. [SPEAKER_00]: and you don't want to screw job.

52:16 [SPEAKER_00]: So I guess the sense is that if he has a five star plus match, I actually think it has to be higher than five star. [SPEAKER_00]: I think five stars would actually be disappointment as dumb as that sounds. [SPEAKER_00]: But I feel like I think I said last night, the bidding starts at like five and a half stars, you know, and it's pressure, man. [SPEAKER_00]: It is, but those guys are capable of it for sure. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, is will going to take that brainbuster on the term buckle? [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and he's going to kick out. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, well, don't. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I feel I, I hope Perry is okay, man. [SPEAKER_00]: That, that did not look good last night. [SPEAKER_00]: It looked like he might have been out before he even took the move, but yeah, it's, you'll take that, he'll take the, you know, the lawn darts and.

53:00 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then he'll probably eat a hidden blade and get a great near fall out of it. [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, it'll just be a great match. [SPEAKER_00]: And maybe it at T's from a draw to who knows. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no, I guess they can't, they don't do the cashing. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, they won't do that. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, and will it be the main event? [SPEAKER_00]: I would think so, but I think the energy match has been the main event before, but I could be wrong about that. [SPEAKER_01]: I think Rocky match is a little light to me. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that Jay White group is necessarily at that level to he's. [SPEAKER_00]: That's another one where the heels kind of got to win too. [SPEAKER_00]: I think Jay White's got to win that match. [SPEAKER_00]: He does. [SPEAKER_00]: He definitely does. [SPEAKER_00]: The, you know, the only thing about him. [SPEAKER_01]: I love Jay White as much as anybody else.

53:43 [SPEAKER_01]: But if you're Tony Khan, how much do you invest into the future of Jay White knowing how [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, that's a real concern. [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of like Adam Cole, right? [SPEAKER_00]: And not quite as snake bitten as Adam Cole has been. [SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, that last one, I guess he charged a bullet because we all thought he was gonna be out longer than he was. [SPEAKER_00]: So, but I kind of feels like he's probably like the betting favor to win the continental classic. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, would be my guess the way he's being built up and and and everything. [SPEAKER_00]: So and and moxie kind of needs some time off. [SPEAKER_00]: So we always say that though. [SPEAKER_00]: And it never happens.

54:25 [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't. [SPEAKER_00]: But you know, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Some stuff he was doing last night just kind of made me think he's like, I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Like he did you would you think of his like the firing up the crowd is a baby face. [SPEAKER_00]: I get just felt a little. [SPEAKER_00]: out of character. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll just say like it worked like I, you know, so I guess not said he's a smart guy. [SPEAKER_00]: So he knows what he can do and what he, what he, what he shouldn't do. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it's some, it's interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: All right, what's your number one? [SPEAKER_00]: So my number one, I mean, it was related to, we talked about earlier, like with them overloading on the gimmick match is never thing, but I guess if I could focus too on the match that is even officially yet, but we all are pretty sure it's happening, because I'm Texas death match.

55:09 [SPEAKER_00]: And so you've got an anarchy in the arena and Texas death on the same show. [SPEAKER_00]: In addition to this, Osprey Fletcher match, which is probably gonna be [SPEAKER_00]: Not to mention, we make it Champa and, uh, and, uh, dragon off, which, so I mean, we're going to have so much violence on this show. [SPEAKER_00]: And I think full gear has a reputation for that. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, like that's this, I think that's the show where Hangman, Dranksworth's blood, uh, I or the right the other way around. [SPEAKER_00]: I can't remember which which was which, um, what show did they stick the [SPEAKER_00]: I think that that was that match wasn't it or was it same match follow-up?

55:54 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't Needle in the cheek. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay as you're looking that up. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was perplexed at There's all out 2024. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay at the new level [SPEAKER_01]: promo segment where woods or creed was like doing jokes like this is like they're building this up is a crazy match and they were doing jokes. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think like I liked it because it was in character like so I bought it like it was like it was like WWE character but they haven't been [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, but, but what they're saying is like, okay, we came here because we want to wrestle.

56:38 [SPEAKER_00]: We didn't come here because we want to like kill people, you know. [SPEAKER_01]: But he also said, we want to be at home. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we want to take our kids to look cross. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which is kind of the opposite of what these wrestlers say because they live and die and breathe to be in the ring and. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: No, I like my schedule, but I I like it like I believe it like that was actually like I actually believed that probably like I believe that's the real guys saying yeah like we come here we're going to have good matches. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to work our asses off, but we're going to go home and we're going to be with our family and if we're in this Texas death match, we might not be able to do that and then you go hang man coming out there basically saying the same thing in a different way like saying you you guys you really don't want this man who I mean he's telling Brody.

57:28 [SPEAKER_00]: But he was also telling the other guys like they already didn't want it. [SPEAKER_01]: They like I don't want this thing. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, he was telling Brody that they don't want it, you know, like kind of thing. [SPEAKER_00]: I actually maybe this is just me like buying into what they're selling, but actually really, really like that segment because you've got this match that really. [SPEAKER_00]: There's only one guy out of the six that wants it and and now I guess we'll probably too because Brody really wants it probably at this point, but now he does because he's getting suckered into it because we're beat up his homie. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it, and it worked, and then they could do the thing where, and, and I, you know, where, possibly, and I think Jeff even thought this last night, and he was half expecting it, and it would have been too soon to do it last night, but maybe the fact that they were being so goofy and joky was to throw them off, and they're actually in on this was sort of, that's possible.

58:25 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I, yes, I've definitely seen that one. [SPEAKER_01]: And in using pro wrestling [SPEAKER_00]: That's that's yeah, kind of what you actually don't think that's what's happening. [SPEAKER_00]: I think it I think it's going to be the impetus for for Swirv and and the new level to break off from each other, not necessarily like a violent split or anything, but like This is too much for us dude. [SPEAKER_00]: Like we just want to have our matches and go home. [SPEAKER_00]: You you do your Texas death will do our, you know, our, you know, our, our just our fun tag team matches. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, and new change. [SPEAKER_01]: Renee, she, she, she had to circle back and raise the love. [SPEAKER_00]: Renee's costume man, Renee's like, I got to put on a costume.

59:08 [SPEAKER_00]: What are those ears over there? [SPEAKER_00]: Give me those. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Let's go. [SPEAKER_00]: She put the very least amount of effort into this costume. [SPEAKER_01]: What was, um, what was Brit? [SPEAKER_01]: She was a 1972 Olympic. [SPEAKER_01]: power lifter wait. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so apparently it was from the movie Matilda, which I've never seen. [SPEAKER_00]: And so I asked the same question and I was told, it's, it's fron's from the, okay, that makes sense. [SPEAKER_00]: But that's not what it was. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, oh. [SPEAKER_00]: No, that's not what it was. [SPEAKER_00]: But that's made sense to me, like I, you know, but apparently the announcers actually explained it, but because it was during an entrance, I skipped it. [SPEAKER_00]: So that's okay.

59:48 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I wasn't paying that close attention after. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but it was, I'm watching this. [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, what the? [SPEAKER_00]: And actually, it was because she did the interview in that first. [SPEAKER_00]: I was just like, I saw a comment. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know who it was. [SPEAKER_00]: actually I'm not even mentioned the comment, but I'll just say it was there's a lot of people talking about for it. [SPEAKER_00]: I'll just say that and it's uh she's she was in costumes a good for her and and I get stokely was wearing a costume too. [SPEAKER_00]: He's dressed up as James Brown but he had been so weird. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not a great costume if you have to turn your back to the camera so that I could say the godfather of soul. [SPEAKER_01]: So you know what the costume is? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise, it's just stokely in a, in a cape. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.

1:00:29 [SPEAKER_01]: So folks are saying it's from the movie, Matilda, the Danny Divido movie, the with the little girl. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and I didn't say that the if you saw the VHS box, you would notice the movie because it's pretty I remember the movie like hearing about it. [SPEAKER_00]: I never watched it. [SPEAKER_00]: So I did a bit of a bit of a deep cut I guess, you know, somebody I think Jeff thought it was a miss ball breaker from porcupis. [SPEAKER_00]: out of it funny. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if British scene porcupis porcupis doesn't age very well. [SPEAKER_00]: No. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's why I was wondering about the SNL's get, too, because like that's from when I was a teenager and I don't think Brit was even born yet.

1:01:15 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, and they don't replay SNL that often. [SPEAKER_00]: So, but it made sense to me. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I thought it was, I thought it was Kevin the [SPEAKER_01]: the what I thought it was because it was pro wrestling is I thought brit was can peterra that's what I thought she was mark Henry like as you remember when uh... mark Henry would have been nineteen seventy two though because that's what her shirt said was nineteen seventy yeah yeah but that that's what i thought it was because it reminded me of when ex-pact dressed as mark Henry like that's what it kind of [SPEAKER_00]: I reminded you of racism is what you said a little bit, yeah, but obviously that wasn't that, but yeah, that was yeah, that was a little period.

1:02:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so just going back to Texas death for a second. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Hangman and Swarve together, they make these segments because to them, they're able to play up that animosity very well. [SPEAKER_01]: And the intrigue on the other side is that the new level have already said, we kind of like those guys. [SPEAKER_01]: So, what is the, like, for a trio's title match, I'm not sure why this is Texas death, like maybe it should be Texas death for Swerve and Hangman, but the other part where these dudes, like, you're just gonna kill each other and they don't even hate each other, like that's the whole reason why you do Texas death.

1:02:50 [SPEAKER_00]: So that's the part that's not really, well if that's the case, then maybe they do need to do the thing where the new level are in on it. [SPEAKER_01]: And that would make sense, because then that would get Bandito and Brody to be really mad at them, and then they would be despicable heels, but then you can't get that big point of... Yeah, sorry, I mean, at least at this point, you've got three guys out of the six now. [SPEAKER_00]: That probably really wanna get at the other guys. [SPEAKER_00]: So. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, well, we'll see. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, that will have to play out on TV. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I don't know, they don't have much time left. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I guess they still have two dynamites, so. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that's your dynamite. [SPEAKER_01]: But, well, next week's dynamite's going to be a heavy wrestling show. [SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, the two of them got the match.

1:03:32 [SPEAKER_01]: They'll have to be really smart about what they put on there. [SPEAKER_00]: And they got to have something in the middle that last, that's what you didn't remember. [SPEAKER_00]: They did the Hobbs, the Hobbs Hangman match. [SPEAKER_01]: That was, that was the irony, remember. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it was, it was a world title match and it was pretty awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: Probably Hobbs best singles match in AWS. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, well, he kind of raw was awesome, and he's been he's been great. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I want to shout out not only the YouTube people who watch us, but also the the new podcast feed, which I kind of renamed and I readjusted and I was trying to make it more toward the stuff that I do.

1:04:12 [SPEAKER_01]: It's actually doing really well. [SPEAKER_01]: I was surprised to see the same show that you and I would do on the old fight game network feed would do less listens than me changing things up. [SPEAKER_01]: So whatever whatever has happened for SEO reasons, it's at least helped. [SPEAKER_00]: It could be to do with the fact that more people are setting up just for us as opposed to like before when you just sent up for the whole fight game thing and maybe people were the one. [SPEAKER_01]: Whatever it is, you know, there's also other places where [SPEAKER_01]: Publishing the links and stuff, but I'm just, I'm, I wasn't even meant to pat us on the back. [SPEAKER_01]: It was just for me. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the whole fight game media network came out of the pandemic and it was just like everyone's depressed.

1:04:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Let's do something together and then as we moved away, I was like, okay, I want to focus on the stuff that I do because I have to produce it all and so leaning into that and it is it has been good for me kind of not like a mental health perspective, but maybe for like a passion perspective for me to go like, okay, now I can focus on the stuff that I'm working on. [SPEAKER_01]: And all that to say that this weekend, Jeremy finds Stone and I are going to do an episode of popcorn and pile drivers on the new Street Fighter movie. [SPEAKER_01]: with Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns. [SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to go through the lore, go to and go to we're going to go through the little and 50 cent we're going to go through the lore of the game and Jeremy's you know he's I Jeremy's excited to nerd out so just be ready and then we'll talk about the movie and we'll talk about a little bit about the movie from the the mid nineties with John Claude Van Dam.

1:05:49 [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, but that'll be our popcorn and pile drivers for the month of October and we're going to do that this Saturday before the WMBA final. [SPEAKER_01]: So all right. [SPEAKER_01]: So you'll be able to see that on YouTube or listen on the fight game podcast audio feed. [SPEAKER_01]: So thanks everyone for checking us out. [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks to Paul for hanging out as well. [SPEAKER_01]: For Paul. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm WG. [SPEAKER_00]: We will see when we see you piece out.
