AEW WrestleDream, Kenny Omega's NJPW Return | Takedown
AEW WrestleDream, Kenny Omega's NJPW Return
Garrett Gonzales and Paul Fontaine are back with the new Takedown format: each ranks the five most important wrestling stories of the week, and neither knows the other's list ahead of time.
Their lists center on AEW WrestleDream this Saturday, October 17 in Orlando, where Will Ospreay defends the AEW World Championship in the first-ever Clockwork Carnage match against Samoa Joe, Mike Bailey and the qualifying-match winners. The guys also cover the rest of the card, including the Young Bucks defending the World Tag Team Titles against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight, Mercedes Moné vs. Thekla for the Women's World Championship, and Andrade El Ídolo's National Title defense.
Next, they react to Kenny Omega laying out IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji at NJPW King of Pro-Wrestling, setting up a three-way with Boltin Oleg at Power Struggle on November 3. From there it's WWE Money in the Bank fallout, with Penta and Tiffany Stratton winning the ladder matches, Roman Reigns retaining over LA Knight and Oba Femi beating Bronson Reed. On Raw, the guys break down Chad Gable tapping out Rey Fenix to retain the Intercontinental Championship, and The 946 adding Carmelo Hayes, whose crowbar attack on The Bloodline closed the show.
They also look back at TNA Bound for Glory in Tampa, where Leon Slater beat Nic Nemeth to become TNA World Champion on a night when five titles changed hands. That included Indi Hartwell winning the Knockouts World Title and Amazing Red claiming the X Division Championship. Finally, Garrett and Paul debate whether WWE can really take Crown Jewel to Riyadh on November 7 under a Level 3 U.S. travel advisory, and close with Adam Copeland's retirement plans and what his final AEW run could look like.

0:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Paul Fontaine and I WG back on and take down and we're going to talk about all of the big stories that we find topical this week in the world of professional wrestling. [SPEAKER_01]: And I do say world because one of mine and maybe the most important one has to do with something that happened in New Japan, but we'll save that for the end. [SPEAKER_01]: And also, I mean, if we're talking about the world, I guess we can start here with this is my number five. [SPEAKER_01]: What's going to happen with this crown jewel show? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's my number four.
0:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, who knows, I mean, I keep thinking that and until they're told they can't go, they're going. [SPEAKER_00]: So unless Turkey cancels it or the government tells them they can't go, they're gonna go. [SPEAKER_01]: So the tennis tournament is been rescheduled. [SPEAKER_01]: Yep, that is one possible domino. [SPEAKER_01]: On the other side, Kinello said that he's going and Turkey kind of turned that into, well, if you care about me, then you're still coming. [SPEAKER_01]: You're not pulling out. [SPEAKER_01]: And so that was a sign to me to WWE that they have to go unless otherwise specified.
1:39 [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not as confident, maybe as I was last week, that they are definitely going, but I still feel like unless something worse happens, that they're probably still going. [SPEAKER_01]: I guess I would be interested to know how [SPEAKER_01]: Like how do some of these other folks who are running these events feel because there's boxing, there's UFC, we know that we know Dana, Dana probably did with Dana go to that show, it's just a fight night, right?
2:22 [SPEAKER_00]: is important to him with the people that with the money there. [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's gone to past shows. [SPEAKER_00]: It is interesting on the UFC website on their upcoming events. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't have that show listed. [SPEAKER_00]: But that may just be because the data is flexible. [SPEAKER_00]: I think they have two weeks in a row where like it could be one of those two weeks and there's no show for the other week. [SPEAKER_00]: So it's like November [SPEAKER_00]: are the two Saturdays. [SPEAKER_00]: And so on the website, it goes from the 21st of November to the 12th of December with nothing in between. [SPEAKER_00]: But they have a card. [SPEAKER_00]: There's a bunch of fights that have been signed and booked and advertised for that show.
3:03 [SPEAKER_00]: But on their website, it's not listed. [SPEAKER_00]: So I just feel like again, [SPEAKER_00]: And Dave, Dave, I think it was on last night's observer kind of laid out the case, you know, like there's a lot more at stake than just the $55 million for this show, you know, and a lot of people even in WWE, you need to back, we need to do everything so that you continue to back our boxing venture. [SPEAKER_00]: Correct. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because that's. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, again, there's billions at stake, if everything works out the way that Dana and TKO want it to work out, they could be the heads of, you know, in 10 years from now, a $10 billion business.
3:54 [SPEAKER_00]: But if they piss Turkey off, it's done. [SPEAKER_00]: If he pulls out, they don't have a promotion. [SPEAKER_00]: Because they'll del-cut bait because they can't afford to pay any of these fighters with what [SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if WWE internally, because I don't know if Turkey even knows who's going to be on this show. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to imagine he's following very closely, but I wonder if WWE internally, you know, has conversations with some of their talent and it's just like, [SPEAKER_01]: secretly. [SPEAKER_01]: If you don't want to go, like we'll just take you off of the show and we'll kind of move whatever match to something else and just do it secretly so that people don't know that, you know, ex person decided that they didn't want it.
4:46 [SPEAKER_01]: Like that would be the [SPEAKER_01]: And it's wrestling. [SPEAKER_01]: So it's hard to kind of understand the mentality, but I hope that there are those kinds of conversations. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, at this point, the only match is that have been like even, you know, they're not even, I guess technically they're announced is just the two crown jewel champion matches, right? [SPEAKER_00]: Like chill, live and Sammy enrollment. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, and those obviously are subject to change if either of those champion, any of those champions lose their [SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I mean, as you pointed out the other day, I mean, they sure seem to be setting up the possibility of Chelsea losing her belt, you know, Roman and Sammy, like Sammy, I, you know, I don't, I, I don't know, I don't know inside Sammy's head, he seems to be the one that would go.
5:45 [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's, I don't know, like I, I just, it's the right thing to do would be for, you know, the management in WWE to stick up for their wrestlers, but I don't think that's gonna happen. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, this is something that we've been talking about. [SPEAKER_01]: We'll keep talking about it and, you know, at least for three more weeks, unless something changes and it does get postponed. [SPEAKER_00]: But, all right, they're probably just hoping that he dies down, but I don't think it's gonna. [SPEAKER_00]: What is your number five? [SPEAKER_00]: My number five is TNA. [SPEAKER_00]: okay so like they had a paper view this weekend and everybody's talking about Max Caster and I mean you know I think everybody listening to this and watching this probably knows you know what happened with Caster you know he gets signed he does a rap that is totally insensitive or related to what we were just talking about and um [SPEAKER_00]: And then he's basically fired, although I mean, I think Brian Alver has reported that he was only going to be on a per appearance deal anyway, so it's not like he lost a multi or contractor anything out of it, but he lost an opportunity for sure.
6:51 [SPEAKER_00]: But that's not even what you know, putting that aside, which is all anyone's talking about. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought they had a pretty good [SPEAKER_00]: I thought, you know, it was okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Like it wasn't great. [SPEAKER_00]: I've seen worse. [SPEAKER_00]: The main event was awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: Leon Slater became the youngest TNA World Champion in history. [SPEAKER_00]: Just turned 22. [SPEAKER_00]: Anyone in the world title site was cool. [SPEAKER_00]: Chain of Bayes Lord debuted. [SPEAKER_00]: And one of the tag team titles [SPEAKER_00]: and then shots the black heart debut at the tapings. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not sure which show she's going to be on. [SPEAKER_00]: But she's there.
7:32 [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, so I mean, you know, there's things happening. [SPEAKER_00]: Amazing red was inducted into Hall of Fame and then won the exhibition title on the same night. [SPEAKER_00]: So that was cool. [SPEAKER_00]: I imagine he's in for a short period of time, but you know, a lot of long-time wrestling fans probably, you know, got to kick out of that. [SPEAKER_00]: I certainly did. [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, so I mean, putting aside the [SPEAKER_00]: probably one that you know wouldn't be too hard to see coming um everything else I thought you know has worked out fairly well for them and then tonight you know tonight show they had it was a fun show it was they were celebrating 35 years of the hearties you know 35 years though they debuted so they got to book the show which you know so it's kind of a fun different show [SPEAKER_01]: And, yeah, I still hear next to nothing about these guys.
8:17 [SPEAKER_00]: I know. [SPEAKER_01]: And it is a whole, I mean, yeah, and this is not meant to be dismissive. [SPEAKER_01]: No, I know. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's the pressing landscape is so loaded right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Well, well, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: So, New Japan. [SPEAKER_01]: Some of this is some of the circles that I'm in right, but even a new Japan show that doesn't really create a lot of news I will hear more I will hear about that for a hear about a TNA show and new Japan is like on a time delay [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I mean, no question like it because in the North American landscape, they're at best third and really you could probably even say fifth.
8:57 [SPEAKER_01]: So so my my question is it's like, what can they do? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think more interest to create more news to create more hope that WWE or AWS slows down because they're taking up so much of the oxygen. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, and then, you know, on top of that for anybody that has even a little bit more time, you've got CMLL, you've got Triple A, you know, I, you know, and then there's that's not to mention G C W M L W N W A M L W A M L W N W A both have TV deals like there's so much wrestling right now, like I watch quote unquote everything, I'm not even watching ML W N W A and really like they're probably around the same level is TNA TNA is maybe slightly more.
9:42 [SPEAKER_00]: visible, but I just watched T&X. [SPEAKER_00]: I've been watching it for so long, but I mean, MLWM and WA from what it hears, you know, it's probably about as good. [SPEAKER_00]: They use a lot of the same people, honestly, or the same kind of people. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, basically, anybody that that WWE or WWE doesn't want you know, you know, I really, I don't want this to come off again as negative, but I really, [SPEAKER_01]: Um, that like the fan, the wrestling fan of today, who's like, okay, I'll watch an AW. [SPEAKER_01]: I will pay attention to WWE just because I know I kind of have to if I want to keep up with this zeitgeist and then on a random Saturday at 2 p.m.
10:27 [SPEAKER_01]: I am going to make time out of my schedule to watch this TNA paper view. [SPEAKER_01]: Like that is some crazy dedication, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Like if I think of an open Saturday and by the way, [SPEAKER_01]: I do have to cover a AEW this weekend. [SPEAKER_01]: Even if I didn't cover it, I'd probably still watch it just to go watch it with my friends. [SPEAKER_01]: But like when I have a Saturday, I'm thinking like, okay, what movie can I go see? [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: What event, you know, what are my kids doing this weekend? [SPEAKER_01]: Like my instincts is not to go. [SPEAKER_01]: I know there's a wrestling show that I can sit down and watch like that is like some major dedication for folks.
11:08 [SPEAKER_01]: And maybe some people just for whatever reason just want to be inside and chill out on the weekend, which more power to them, but still I think I would probably find a movie or a game or something to watch rather than a rest well on on me on the on, you know, TNA is so because it's a little profile, it's pretty easy to just watch on your own time and not worry about getting spoiled. [SPEAKER_00]: you know, um, I watched it, I watched it late Sunday night. [SPEAKER_00]: It was on. [SPEAKER_00]: It was actually Sunday afternoon. [SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, yeah, it was up against the NFL, you know, like, you know, so forget about wrestling, like, you know, who's watching that live? [SPEAKER_00]: Like nobody. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, and, you know, so I watched it later that night and I didn't know anything that had happened and you know, I enjoyed the show.
11:50 [SPEAKER_00]: But again, like you said it, I mean, if I was an normal person, [SPEAKER_00]: I probably, if I really want to watch wrestling, I probably watched Collision from the night before, you know, before I'm going to watch a TNA paper view. [SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, the wrestling on Collision was probably better. [SPEAKER_00]: And the bigger stars. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and they had bigger stars. [SPEAKER_00]: And then you also had a New Japan show the next day, you know, or really later that night, depending on how you want to look at it. [SPEAKER_00]: So, and New Japan is definitely better wrestling. [SPEAKER_00]: And a bigger show, honestly, you know, there's a lot of stuff that happened on that show that King of Pro are, what do that show is called? [SPEAKER_00]: King of Paris King of Paris and yeah, so yeah, no, you're right like it's it's a very very minor part of the thing, but I just you know, they've been around a long time and and this network, you know, has some ties to TNA, I mean, you know, is one of the founding shows that we had and everything so now you know when I started watching it, you know, back in the day I can remember [SPEAKER_01]: the, uh, when in the very early days of the F4W online community, I would listen to Brian and Vinnie make fun of TNA.
12:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: I would listen to Brian and Dave talk about how dumb all of this stuff is in TNA. [SPEAKER_01]: And that was the entertainment for me. [SPEAKER_01]: So if you told me that version of TNA was back, we're just like the dumbest possible thing, but at least there are some stars or some older stars, I would be more compelled to watch that for the shits and giggles. [SPEAKER_01]: Then the company that they are now, which is we're trying to be somewhat entertaining or trying to have some good wrestling, but we still have some wacky booking sometimes. [SPEAKER_01]: And look, you know, we know [SPEAKER_01]: Lance Storm fairly well. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I know he works there. [SPEAKER_01]: And so for that reason alone and in addition to the wrestlers, I want them to succeed of course, but it's just like, how do they, I don't, I couldn't answer how they could even kind of get a little further in.
13:50 [SPEAKER_00]: No, I think their best bet is just to try to maintain what they have. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, and again, they sell their paper views, they do crowds not that far off of what a W does for television and their TV tapings are a little bit less than that, but They're, you know, and as long as they keep their payroll at a reasonable level, they're, you know, I think they're profitable. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, and then they got the WW relationship, which is pretty one sided, but it does help them a little bit, and sometimes, you know, [SPEAKER_00]: Again, it's the first thing I'm going to drop if I run out of time or if WWE WWE adds something I want to watch. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
14:30 [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: My next one is Adam Copeland dropped a little nugget of information yesterday about 2027 being his final year and my hope because I don't think this is in stone. [SPEAKER_01]: It's not even really within his control. [SPEAKER_01]: that he can actually do that because we know how crazy injuries are, and especially with him being a little bit older and he's wrestling a much harder style than he's probably ever wrestled in his entire career to be honest. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm like, you know, I will he win the world title.
15:11 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to guess not, but like whatever, like I will enjoy, you know, whatever they do with him. [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and I had this thought with Keela Cash last night on the fight game podcast, MJF could needle the hell out of Adam Copeland could MJF say the actual name John Cena on AEW television. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't see why not. [SPEAKER_01]: Would his boss let him drop the name of John Cena on a WTL? [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it depending on the context I suppose, like are you like basically saying to refer to, you know, him having like a John Cena retirement to her?
15:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Like that sort of, more of the effect of like, hey, cope. [SPEAKER_01]: they don't love you, like they love John Cena man, like given him that. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I don't know about that one. [SPEAKER_00]: Like it would have to be in a certain context. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's mentioned people in WWE before. [SPEAKER_00]: He's even indirectly mentioned Triple H, you know, at the time of the fall, bald fraud. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and he's talked about, you know, when he was talking, when he was feeding with punk, he mentioned things, you know, I think he even said, you know, you could even possible [SPEAKER_01]: You know, or yeah, I even something like you're not John Cena, don't kid yourself or something like that, you know, just, you know, I just want him to be able to go out the way he wants to go out.
16:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, make sure that he's healthy. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure there will be more matches with Christian because they'll just be easier on him. [SPEAKER_01]: If he has women Christians, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so me Christians, okay, which hopefully he is, because again, we don't want and and and [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying anything that no one said, but I was dreading that ladder match. [SPEAKER_01]: I hated watching that ladder match. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't even know Christian got hurt in that ladder. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't either, and I mean, of all the guys to get hurt, he'd have been the last one, because I just figured he'd be working smart and not doing anything stupid. [SPEAKER_00]: And near as I could tell, he didn't. [SPEAKER_00]: but he got hurt anyways. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's just like kind of ridiculous that they have to, they're, they're like legends and they're definitely talking about legends.
17:27 [SPEAKER_00]: Jeff and I talked about this last night and, you know, he asked me like, if I thought that, you know, Cope could get one last world title run. [SPEAKER_00]: And I, you know, my instinct is no, just because they have so many guys at that level that they've got to get a world title run too. [SPEAKER_00]: And the time frame doesn't really allow for it, [SPEAKER_00]: I would say that if they book, let's say they book all in, and this is what everyone's talking about, right? [SPEAKER_00]: All in next year at the Rogers Center, former Skydon, you know, in July, I think the blue jays have two weekends off, you know, in July, and that would be the time that they did the show in Texas. [SPEAKER_00]: So if they were going to do it in North America, that would be that weekend, probably.
18:09 [SPEAKER_00]: So let's say you had Adam Copeland booked for a World Title match on that show. [SPEAKER_00]: If he wins, he stays. [SPEAKER_00]: If he loses, he's done. [SPEAKER_00]: That could be the stipulation. [SPEAKER_01]: And depending on who the champion is, it has to be MJF or it has to be MJF. [SPEAKER_00]: And if MJF, if MJF, I could see MJF losing the title to him. [SPEAKER_00]: And then he maybe holds it for one or two paper of these cycles, and then he loses it in October, something like that, and then he's done. [SPEAKER_00]: And then you have a retirement ceremony form, you know, later that year or something like that. [SPEAKER_00]: I could see that under that very unique circumstance and or he could lose.
18:51 [SPEAKER_00]: And I think he would be fine losing too, you know, and having his last match at Rogers Center and I think that they could do probably 40,000 fans for that, it's a pretty good market for them and you can draw from, you know, Detroit and Buffalo and Chicago and even New York's not that far. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, and, and, and, you know, from, you know, a lot of, you know, Montreal, uh, Ottawa, you know, there's the, you can get 40,000 in there, I think. [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, and it's, but it hopes a big star. [SPEAKER_01]: You're going to have to heat them up, though. [SPEAKER_01]: Because remember the match that he would John Cena, I mean, John, John Moxley. [SPEAKER_00]: We were, we were like, just doesn't feel like it's going to stay healthy too.
19:31 [SPEAKER_01]: And he's best to help me, you know, he should also do some stuff at Jericho, you know, in the last run, whether it's a tag team or maybe a match against Jericho. [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, you know, you know, he wants to work the Tokyo dome and and that will, you know, we're going to talk about, I'm sure, I think probably New Japan's on both our lists, but, you know, he's going to want to do the Tokyo dome and depending on the status, the health of, of, cage, I mean, to me, you know, him and cage against the knockout brothers would be perfect. [SPEAKER_00]: Or, again, you can do a triple threat with another new Japan team, you could do that, or just a singles match for Cope, and there's a number of guys you could probably have a good singles match with.
20:17 [SPEAKER_00]: And it would be in a position where it wouldn't have to be like the match that steals a show or anything like that. [SPEAKER_00]: You could do something higher up the car, but not the main event and do like a 15 minute match. [SPEAKER_00]: They're not going to sing a song, Mo. [SPEAKER_00]: Probably not, which I think I'd be happy with. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm so sick of that song. [SPEAKER_00]: It's a great fast forward moment for me and I get through like three minutes. [SPEAKER_00]: I accidentally watched it. [SPEAKER_00]: I was so mad at myself because I thought he was coming up for a promo. [SPEAKER_00]: I forgot he's doing a match. [SPEAKER_00]: So I was waiting for the singing to answer he'd do his promo. [SPEAKER_00]: And then I said Josh Alexander came out and I was like, damn it. [SPEAKER_00]: I couldn't [SPEAKER_01]: All right, so you said that for was a rea.
21:02 [SPEAKER_00]: So what's the I had rea. [SPEAKER_00]: The only thing I would add in that was the funny thing is I had a completely different reaction than you when I watched Chelsea lose two rocks and I thought oh that probably means she's winning at crown jewel just the way they book You know like no, I know, but I hate that. [SPEAKER_00]: It's I know I do too, but it was just my natural reaction So yeah, they're probably gonna throw her bones letter win [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we can we can talk a little bit about raw later. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've got I've got something else from raw on my list too. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So do you want me to do three then? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, go for it. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay. [SPEAKER_00]: So three is is the king of processing show and all the stuff that happened. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, first of all, it was great show. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I know you only watched like you said you watch the main event and you watched the main event very closely.
21:47 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I watched the other stuff, but it wasn't all that close. [SPEAKER_01]: Right. [SPEAKER_01]: That was working. [SPEAKER_00]: I watched it all the way through and I will say like the opening match like I mean usually the opening match is like nothing and right from the opening match like they had me like it was the opening match is great it was like six minutes, but it was totally to done to set up. [SPEAKER_00]: uh, uh, shingo to cogging and john moxley and and shingo, uh, uses john moxley's finisher on a young boy and gets the pin. [SPEAKER_00]: And then we got a john moxley promo that he sent in and basically said, yeah, uh, I'm back. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm coming to New Japan and he had marina with them. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's it. [SPEAKER_00]: And that's all he said. [SPEAKER_00]: He didn't really hint, you know, obviously he's going to wrestle shingo, but we don't know when or where or anything, just he's coming to New Japan.
22:31 [SPEAKER_00]: And so that was [SPEAKER_00]: No, there's a couple of matches that weren't great, you know, a host of torture and whatnot, but the show was like really good. [SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, the last four matches, the junior title match, I mean, I heard you review a day of it. [SPEAKER_00]: And I mean, he was kind, that junior tile match wasn't good. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, it was, [SPEAKER_01]: That is actually one that I skipped because I do the gimmick where I just look at the card and I just pick the matches and then let those and then skip to the next one. [SPEAKER_01]: That's the one that I skipped because I just didn't have any interest in it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're like, yo and Robbie Eagles, you know, I could probably miss this one. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, and it was, I mean, they literally had no build. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, the build was Yo was making fun of Robbie, uh, Robbie X by chanting Robbie Robbie Robbie.
23:15 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, and then Robbie X got mad and said, that's the wrong Robbie and then the right Robbie came out and challenged them. [SPEAKER_00]: Like it, that that was the build. [SPEAKER_00]: It was nothing and the match was nothing. [SPEAKER_00]: but the other three were great. [SPEAKER_00]: And that made a vent, like, oh my god. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the match itself in the ring, it was every bit as good as Omega and Osprey. [SPEAKER_00]: The difference is it didn't have the extra bells and whistles that is going to make people remember Omega Osprey more, but the story in the actual match was incredible. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's completely different kind of match. [SPEAKER_00]: I like the match better. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, there you go. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, and I did too, but it's, but it's mostly because I just enjoy that style better.
23:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Suji does not get the credit he deserves. [SPEAKER_00]: In my opinion, he's the best world champion there is right now. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not saying he's the best wrestler that happens to be the world champion. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just saying he's the best guy at being a world champion. [SPEAKER_00]: he wrestles his opponents. [SPEAKER_00]: He wrestles his own match while also keep wrestling to his opponent's strengths and he does that classic, rickler thing of playing, you know, as being the heel when he needs to be the heel and being the baby face when he needs to be the baby face and in the end, [SPEAKER_00]: coming out on top, but unlike Rick Clarries, he doesn't have a JJ Dillon hitting people with a shoe or whatever, he's just winning. [SPEAKER_00]: And I just, I love you to Suji.
24:38 [SPEAKER_00]: And then when can you make a video hit? [SPEAKER_00]: Like, can you make is like, you know, one of my favorite wrestlers of all time, you know? [SPEAKER_00]: And then he's gonna challenge you to Suji. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, oh my God, like I was so excited. [SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, like Boltonolik, who I also love shows up and I'm like, [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I just, I mean, I think that that is part of it right now is they will, yeah, they will do that match again at the Tokyo Dome, and that's what we get the choice, yeah, which is, is good. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I mean, yeah, so he's got to be, so yeah, I mean, I was super excited and you know, and you also set up the will ask for account newment tag team title match on November 3rd, which is shaping up to be a huge show that I mean, I, you could, I'm, well, I'm definitely in trying to make time.
25:24 [SPEAKER_01]: The problem is is like, [SPEAKER_01]: trying to watch it in time to talk about it. [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes I don't always have that time, especially on these felt like Monday. [SPEAKER_01]: If I had to do late, that's a late Monday into Tuesday, right? [SPEAKER_01]: If I didn't have to do that show with Dave, then I could have just watched it at my own time and then talked about it with you. [SPEAKER_01]: But I had to know what happened because of the Dave show. [SPEAKER_01]: So I was like, uh, [SPEAKER_00]: I'll that's it's basically going to be on right after raw. [SPEAKER_00]: I think if I've got the calendar right and that's going to be hard, but man, I want to like I never watch anything live and if I was going to watch anything live, that's the one and then the dome if it's making sushi like [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't watched a Tokyo Dom show live since that one that Jim Ross called on paper view, remember like years ago, like with Jeff Jarrett was on show.
26:14 [SPEAKER_00]: That's the one, the last time I watched it live, it was on a Saturday night, it was right after UFC, I did an all nighter. [SPEAKER_00]: This one I want to see live, like that's how into Omega and Sujaya. [SPEAKER_00]: Like it's, it's the biggest match for me in probably 20 years. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I'm, I'm so pumped for this match. [SPEAKER_01]: It, like, it's so interesting because I should be the type of wrestling fan, where I'm like, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Even without Kenny Omega and Will Osprey and MJF, I should be pretty excited for a good New Japan card. [SPEAKER_01]: But...
26:56 [SPEAKER_01]: They do bring something to the table that makes me way more interested than not, and it's going to make me pay more attention. [SPEAKER_01]: And if I'm being honest, I'm more excited to watch them in New Japan than I'm actually excited to watch them in AWS. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, yeah, we talked about that last night too. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I totally agree. [SPEAKER_00]: They come off as bigger stars and they also come off as more into what they're doing. [SPEAKER_00]: If that makes sense. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just it feels. [SPEAKER_01]: more important for whatever reason, it feels less like we have to get all of these matches on in order to get to the next show in order to get to this paper view that I've no interest in watching outside of, I have to cover it with Dave.
27:42 [SPEAKER_01]: And as not even a shot at the matches, it's just we just did this three weeks ago. [SPEAKER_01]: And now I have to find five more hours to sit in front of my television. [SPEAKER_00]: This feels this throw on Saturday feels like a really big episode of Dynamite. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, this even more so though like I mean, that mean event if this was like a dynamite mean event that they've been building to for a month I'd be super fired up for it because it's more of a TV match. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm intrigued because it's I feel like Somebody watched how the NXT match works. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I'm spoiling what we're going to talk about later So I don't want to talk too much about it, but somebody told me that they watched the uh [SPEAKER_01]: What is the company that, uh, Eve, right?
28:26 [SPEAKER_00]: They, he said that they watched the Eve match and it wasn't that great. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and, and the funny thing is is the people that say it was great are the people that say everything's great. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, like that. [SPEAKER_00]: So I'd kind of listen to that person more. [SPEAKER_00]: One thing I will say though, you know, we are so used to the, the A, W, and W, W, we tribalism, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: I got to see a little bit of the New Japan tribalism. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh. [SPEAKER_00]: because it was I was killing myself laughing, but I didn't want to participate in the discussion, but there are the New Japan fans now that are saying, oh, because New Japan's got their shit together and they're doing good stuff. [SPEAKER_00]: AW is trying to piggyback off of New Japan. [SPEAKER_00]: That's as they're taking.
29:08 [SPEAKER_00]: Meanwhile, like, I mean, people on the AW side are like, oh, look at what great partners Tony's being sending over his big stars to help them. [SPEAKER_00]: Meanwhile, the New Japan Foundation, we don't need your help, keep MGF at home, we don't want to see them, like, you know, they don't, and even will, they're not interested in because they don't, like, calum. [SPEAKER_01]: So, like, yeah, I think it's more... [SPEAKER_01]: about the trust in. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Probably they're worried that Tony's going to put his foot down and out with the blues. [SPEAKER_01]: And now let's say, let's say, Osprey Omega and MJF lose. [SPEAKER_01]: If you get if you gave it to them that way, they'd be all for it, probably. [SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, and I don't know.
29:49 [SPEAKER_00]: But again, I think there's just being snobs. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I think the average person is probably pretty pumped up about MJF showing up in New Japan. [SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, even a casual fan that has a big awareness VW sees this big star for me, W coming in and he's wrestling one of their top young guys. [SPEAKER_00]: He's not even trying to wrestle, you know, like, you know, one of the veterans. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the thing is they don't really have anybody like a ton of house you're in a cot or even a nighto. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: Now, now, can I actually, [SPEAKER_01]: play a little bit of devil's advocate because what I wonder is is the fan that you're talking about who the type of fan who's like, oh, we don't need AEW. [SPEAKER_01]: What I wonder is is if they just believe.
30:31 [SPEAKER_01]: that as exciting as the forbidden door may have been or could have been or whatever, that the relationship is just too one sided. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I thought exactly what it is. [SPEAKER_01]: And if and if that, if you are a [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I don't like Tony, like, um, Stephen Conway from the, the, the, the, Speaking of strong stuff, like he, he's not a fan of of Tony Con or of really of the A, W product. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I think it, I think some of it comes from that viewpoint, which is. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, who was Tony Khan before New Japan and he's, you know, his whole idea for AEW came from New Japan.
31:14 [SPEAKER_01]: So how is he big timing us? [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not saying that he is, but I'm saying that's their view. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, the thing is that his idea actually, I think his idea for AEW actually came from Triple H. But he used the New Japan talent to make it happen. [SPEAKER_00]: So for example, H. Yeah, he wanted what what Triple H was doing with NXT. [SPEAKER_00]: He wanted to do that on a national level, like Triple H wanted to do, but Vince would let him do dude at him, but different from that NXT show that NXT show was like two hours and 20 minutes. [SPEAKER_01]: For the big shows because that's only caught Tony Khan can't even get his television show done in two hours and I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because it's his roster is so loaded.
31:55 [SPEAKER_00]: That's a difference and the thing is like triple H probably would have done four hours shows if he was able to But you know, they only gave him two and a half hours and and he he didn't have the freedom to do what he wanted But it's on the WWE network. [SPEAKER_01]: There's no time limit on the WWE network [SPEAKER_00]: No, but Vince had a time limit, like I'm just saying like it's more it's not even so much about the formatting of the shows it's more about the type of wrestlers and the type of matches that they would have Tony is the wrestling sickle so he's going to put as many matches as he can on a show that part yeah that party got from the Japan [SPEAKER_00]: because New Japan would do these 10 or 12 match shows. [SPEAKER_00]: But the difference is, and WWE even used to do that back in the day.
32:35 [SPEAKER_00]: But the difference is that, you know, the openers are like four minutes, five, six, seven, you know, and then it's not till you get to the like the last four or five matches that you get the 20 minute matches. [SPEAKER_00]: On Tony shows every match is a made of it, you know, and the fans love it. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, and they've been very successful on paper view. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, as successful as you're going to be in 2026, um, I don't, I'm not sure how this would have done 10 years ago, you know, like because I don't know that they would have been able to get those 300,000 people buying these ridiculously long shows, um, you know, but, but now, you know, there's enough fans that want it that they could be very successful doing, you know, 150, 160,000 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's go with a little bit of money in the bank.
33:27 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so this is your number three? [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, this is my number three. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I didn't have anything from money in the bank online, so that's good. [SPEAKER_01]: And you already talked about New Japan, so that would have been my number one, actually. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay. [SPEAKER_01]: So we'll go with money in the bank because I did not think that this was a fantastic show in any way. [SPEAKER_01]: Actually thought raw was way better than money in the bank was. [SPEAKER_01]: But you did get the Roman Reigns in LA night match, which I think it was a little unfortunate that LA night did not have any way out of that thing. [SPEAKER_01]: It said to eat the pin after all these years. [SPEAKER_01]: You had Penta winning the men's winning.
34:08 [SPEAKER_01]: I hated that money in the bank match, but Penta winning. [SPEAKER_01]: I was thumbs up with, so overall I was happy. [SPEAKER_01]: Um, and then you had Tiffy winning the women's one in the bank match. [SPEAKER_01]: I hated that match. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think she should have won, but I knew she was going to win. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, it's so funny because we picked both the winners and neither one of them were favorites. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And then, uh, you had, uh, over. [SPEAKER_01]: and Bronson Reed, which was solid, you know, exactly kind of what it had to be. [SPEAKER_01]: And uh, well, there's was no, one of the women's, the women's title match Becky, Stefan Glev, which I thought that one match was solidly work, but just ridiculous outcome.
34:49 [SPEAKER_01]: And, and no crowd heat, which definitely hurt it. [SPEAKER_01]: And so ultimately, like, the, oh, I think, [SPEAKER_01]: I think the reason why I was okay with this show, it kind of goes back to what we're talking about with Russell Dream. [SPEAKER_01]: I was not ready for all out and we in all out came so fast after all in and I'm not ready for Russell Dream and it's coming so fast after all out. [SPEAKER_01]: I was okay sitting through that WWE show because I was like, oh, yeah, I haven't watched one of these in a little bit, like, it was like almost two months since I'm like, and I know it's going to be three hours max, I don't have to donate that much of my time. [SPEAKER_00]: This one was actually longer. [SPEAKER_00]: Little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, I don't know what it like the actual wrestling was longer even like it wasn't just the because I watched it.
35:35 [SPEAKER_00]: I watched it the next day and it took me all like two and a half hours to watch it. [SPEAKER_01]: It was like three hours and 15 minutes or something. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but there wasn't a lot to skip is what I'm saying. [SPEAKER_00]: Like not as much as they usually is. [SPEAKER_01]: I think that money in the bank gimmick is like dead and gone and they still just have to keep doing it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they want to sell those brief cases. [SPEAKER_01]: But I will say that the pentathing I think was good enough. [SPEAKER_01]: If they book him correctly, they'll always be a little circle back to this moment when he won the money in the bank and I know some people think that the Javan thing was is going to live forever. [SPEAKER_01]: I just thought that thing was historically stupid and kind of ridiculous and.
36:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I know they're there to create moments, but man, when you talk about progressing being fake, like stuff like this drives me nuts. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, but yeah, I mean, ultimately it's like a, I don't know. [SPEAKER_01]: It was a five out of ten or six out of ten, but I sat through it. [SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, yeah, I was kind of ready for it. [SPEAKER_01]: And so I was okay with the show. [SPEAKER_00]: I probably liked it a little bit more than you. [SPEAKER_00]: I liked both the money and the bank batches. [SPEAKER_00]: The women's match, there's a couple of spots that everyone's talked about. [SPEAKER_00]: That were dangerous that I didn't like, but other than that, I thought they worked really hard. [SPEAKER_00]: I liked the story of the match, and then the men's match, I really enjoyed it. [SPEAKER_00]: I liked the spot, and I thought everything gets surrounding.
37:02 [SPEAKER_00]: They weren't the best money and the bank matches. [SPEAKER_00]: They weren't the worst. [SPEAKER_00]: They were just kind of there. [SPEAKER_00]: The funny thing is is you talked early on in the show tonight about, you know, things being under the radar. [SPEAKER_00]: AAA had a show on that was right after money in the bank, and they had two matches that were better than anything on money in the bank other than the Roman Reigns Sami Zain match and this was or Ellie Nightman. [SPEAKER_00]: And they're two matches, there was one was a four-way number of contenders match and the other one was like a singles match, I think, and they were both awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: And if those two matches had been on the paper view and let's say you took out the women's title match that wasn't very good.
37:47 [SPEAKER_00]: Like to me it would have been like one of their best shows of the year. [SPEAKER_00]: But because they were two separate shows and because that women's match was in great and that you couldn't, you know, I wouldn't go. [SPEAKER_00]: I would have given it like a six and half, you know, maybe seven. [SPEAKER_00]: I like I enjoyed it and, you know, and again, like it was longer than [SPEAKER_00]: you know, more wrestling than I'm used to and I think that's just because those two money the bank matches are longer than their their usual matches and they didn't have a ton of backstage things or anything. [SPEAKER_00]: So, um, but yeah, I was fine. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, in the next show is maybe going to be crown jewel. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, we we have another month to go, you know, but, you know, before that, I think or yeah, it's like three weeks from this weekend, I think. [SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, if there was no crown jewel, I think I'd be pretty ready for Survivor Series.
38:33 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, I'll be ready for survivors anyways, too, because Crown Jewel, I mean, it's weird. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, it feels more like a Saturday and it's made of it. [SPEAKER_00]: If that makes any sense. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, it doesn't feel like a regular PLE because those matches don't matter. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, the Crown Jewel matches. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, it's like a special episode of Raw or something. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they used to do this on paper view, right? [SPEAKER_00]: What did they call it? [SPEAKER_00]: night of champions. [SPEAKER_01]: No, when it was brand versus brand. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: It was, um, well, that was a survivor series. [SPEAKER_00]: They had that. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, they also had a paper view one year where they bragging. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm bragging right. [SPEAKER_01]: That's what it was. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: And that's, I mean, that's what this show feels like. [SPEAKER_01]: It feels like bragging rights to me.
39:14 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, except. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know what the rest of the cards can be in them. [SPEAKER_00]: Sure. [SPEAKER_00]: They don't either at this point. [SPEAKER_00]: Got, you got to think Cody and Randy, you know, [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, are they going to save that all the way for survivor series? [SPEAKER_00]: Or they just do it on a rob or a SmackDown, you know, this patty SmackDown did a really good number. [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, maybe they maybe didn't want to lose those numbers a little bit. [SPEAKER_00]: All right. [SPEAKER_00]: What is your next one? [SPEAKER_00]: My next one, my number two is the 946. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And just, you know, like what they did in the main event of Raw, which as you said was an ending. [SPEAKER_01]: Bound for glory was a little better in money in the bank.
39:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm. [SPEAKER_00]: I'd have to think about that. [SPEAKER_00]: It was close. [SPEAKER_00]: It was close. [SPEAKER_00]: Like the best stuff on money in the bank was better than the best stuff on bound for glory. [SPEAKER_00]: And there was nothing bad on bound for glory. [SPEAKER_00]: So maybe maybe. [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, the 946, you know, like they had that match in the main event. [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, obviously had that Chad Gable match, which was awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: That was right before it. [SPEAKER_00]: And then it's like, oh, how are they going to follow this? [SPEAKER_00]: And they just had a completely different match. [SPEAKER_00]: And they had a really good match. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm watching this and I'm like, how are they going to do this? [SPEAKER_00]: Because the 946 has to win. [SPEAKER_00]: but like the bloodline is kind of like geeks like me and you know you kind of don't want them to lose so you know how do you do it and then you know they did what they did and they had the you know the mask I show up and when he first took off his mask like I didn't even recognize mellow at first like I actually thought it was the on Linux you know because you've got a you know similar look with the you know the short hair and the mustache [SPEAKER_00]: And but and he didn't look as small as he normally does.
41:00 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what it was, but you know, until the rest of the guys were there, and then it's like, oh yeah, okay, he's a little smaller than they are, but he looked a little bigger. [SPEAKER_00]: So I was like I wasn't ready for him, but I thought it was like super cool when they threw out the line earlier in the show about strength and numbers. [SPEAKER_00]: I thought, that got me thinking the other way and I thought, oh, we're going to get in the only in this, you know, to even up the numbers and instead the they added a member and so now we've got, you know, now, you know, obviously you're going to get Roman involved and probably get Jacob back and then they got out of female. [SPEAKER_00]: And that'll be lonely, but then you got to have another mail on the 9th or 6th. [SPEAKER_00]: That was the other thing I want to talk about, you know, the different possibilities.
41:42 [SPEAKER_00]: I know you'll kill it, talk to both that last night, and I had the idea of the online. [SPEAKER_00]: Nixon, she brought it up too. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if she saw my comment or we were just thinking on the same wavelength. [SPEAKER_00]: She brought up Cruz Montana, which would be great. [SPEAKER_00]: He'd be a perfect fit for that group. [SPEAKER_00]: There's not a lot of other guys that are ready at that level. [SPEAKER_00]: If Elijah Holyfield was a year more in, he'd be perfect, but he's not even close to being ready for something like that. [SPEAKER_00]: But he's like, he's built like a brick shithouse and he could talk and he's got some personality. [SPEAKER_00]: He'd be great, but it's too early. [SPEAKER_00]: The one guy I don't think you guys mentioned that I've seen speculated that would be interesting is Ricky Saints.
42:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm, you know, another small guy though, it would be, but you know, they could be, yeah, and you know, like I was going to say to be the tag team, but you've already got a tag team. [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, another small guy is probably a downside. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, and then after other than that, like I don't, you know, I don't know, you know, I mean. [SPEAKER_00]: You're kind of looking for guys that fit, you know, like either, you know, like a tough guy, a big guy, you know, a person of color, either, you know, Black or Latino, Drake, Monroe, the guy that's playing the butcher in AAA would be interesting, but I mean, he's doing pretty good where he is, so I don't think they want to move him right now.
43:04 [SPEAKER_00]: You know, somebody from Triple A, even maybe they might look at it. [SPEAKER_01]: Let's hang out on Roth for a second because so I thought Chad Gable and Ray Phoenix was probably my favorite television match and I'm all and I'm only watching raw and in dynamite. [SPEAKER_01]: That was my favorite television match of the week and I also thought I [SPEAKER_01]: raw was more entertaining than dynamite and I know dynamite had to build this paper view and you know they've had some tough shows of late and you know you give them the benefit of the doubt on that but there were things on raw that reminded me that when they have good stuff how fun that show could be [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I agree with that.
44:03 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Dynamite, I enjoyed last night's show, but I mean, it wasn't one of their best ones. [SPEAKER_00]: I, you know, last week was better. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I agree. [SPEAKER_00]: Like there, they didn't have a match like the Chad Gable match. [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't have an angle like the 946 angle, you know, dynamite didn't have anything as bad as, you know, that Stephanie Vicarro promo where she based it. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's the problem is there's definitely there's so many low moments in rock. [SPEAKER_00]: I could not believe what she said. [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, oh, I didn't, I didn't realize that would happen. [SPEAKER_01]: I do like the only person in the world that even even better than that was when she said when I lose I get stronger I was like don't say in that out loud, man Don't say in that out loud.
44:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's worked for exactly two people in history with a rock and Daniel Bryan And both while the second one was by accident first one was you know rock was just so damn good. [SPEAKER_00]: It didn't matter [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, but yeah, I mean you're right though like when they're doing things right and I've said this for years like when WWE was at its lowest point in like 2021 and to like I know 2019 was really bad, but Man during that pandemic like some of those shows were like so bad [SPEAKER_00]: And I remember saying at that time, like, you know, I like dynamite because it's the best show going right now, but if rock and get the shit together, I would probably like it more, but it just they, I don't know if they ever will.
45:37 [SPEAKER_00]: And then they did for a while, and, you know, and even SmackDown had its moments, but I mean, consistently dynamite is usually the best, but everyone's in a while, rock and pull out a show like this like that Mexico city show, you know, last month. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, and that was a completely different show than this week. [SPEAKER_00]: This week was more like the the old raw that we all fell in love with, you know, like some good wrestling, some great angles, some good promos, you know, like you had the Oba thing, which I thought was great. [SPEAKER_00]: Like that nobody's really talking about that. [SPEAKER_00]: Like that exchange you have with Hamon, I love that he just owned Hamon. [SPEAKER_00]: And it was awesome. [SPEAKER_00]: He grabs the mic from an throws in a way, and he was like, what?
46:17 [SPEAKER_00]: Like, oh, he's so cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, hey, he's into it. [SPEAKER_01]: You could tell. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: He's letting a lot of, you know, he's part of it. [SPEAKER_01]: So you can tell he's. [SPEAKER_00]: And it was just like, he sees what he's doing. [SPEAKER_00]: He's like, yeah, you know, like you've watched yourself on the block, you latches up on a Roman. [SPEAKER_00]: The difference is I'm not a Paul Hayman guy. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm an over family guy. [SPEAKER_00]: I want a shirt that says I'm an over thing right now, you know, and they'll be out there. [SPEAKER_00]: They're not stupid. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I could I would be I would be amazed if they weren't there by next Monday's TV. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but do we have the same top one. [SPEAKER_00]: Just a well, Russell dream, right?
46:59 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I wrote down, I'm like, Dave, I can't get the name of the paper. [SPEAKER_00]: You're right. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: And it's, it's, you know, like, I'm the opposite. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to talk about the paper view. [SPEAKER_00]: But I did like, [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to give Tony con a pass this cycle because of what happened with Pock. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, yeah, you only had he had basically he already was pressed for time and then he basically just gave a week away and and that was his choice and but there are some things that he there's some unforesterers that you know that don't have anything to do with Pock. [SPEAKER_00]: And one of them, in my opinion, was was doing the Osprey O'Cottomatch for free on television.
47:42 [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't think they needed to do that. [SPEAKER_00]: They'd already sold their tickets. [SPEAKER_00]: They weren't going to do a good rating, and they needed a paper feement event. [SPEAKER_00]: And then this freaking, [SPEAKER_00]: When we were doing our show preview last night at the end of the dynamite show, I pull up the card and I'm looking at it and we're talking and I'm like, I stopped for a second. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, wait, what? [SPEAKER_00]: And I just, I, I'm baffled and I watched the show and I still have no idea why I'm high-end and Queen Almanada and Danny Luna getting title shots.
48:30 [SPEAKER_00]: And so, I mean, to me that there's no excuse for that. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's just, this is just bad booking. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, and nobody wants to see that match. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, I'm sorry Tony, I maybe you do. [SPEAKER_00]: But you know, I'm sure the show will be fine, but you know, and they again, they, you know, I guess Jamie here got hurt, so they have to make some light changes in the card and cage I guess was supposed to be on the show too. [SPEAKER_00]: I, and I also don't, I'm not really a big fan of Copeland being in this tag, but I get or in this eight man match, but I guess now that my man is going for the championship, just yeah, yeah, everybody. [SPEAKER_00]: Right. [SPEAKER_00]: Now that we know that, it makes a little more sense. [SPEAKER_01]: What do you think about FTR and the motor city machine guns beginning this best three out of five?
49:15 [SPEAKER_01]: And it being on the pre show. [SPEAKER_00]: It's on the pre-show. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know that. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't care. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't care. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't really care about FTR. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry if that makes me a bad wrestling fan. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure the match will be fine. [SPEAKER_00]: Do I really want to see five of them when I know that they're going to split the first four? [SPEAKER_00]: Just let me know when they get to the fifth one and then I'll pay attention to it. [SPEAKER_00]: And then what's going to happen? [SPEAKER_00]: Like the winners are just going to get a tile shot or they're just going to [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, is this for a prize? [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we've had tons of people going like, where's motor city machine guns? [SPEAKER_01]: How come they're not on TV? [SPEAKER_01]: And now they're just going to wrestle a little FTR.
49:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they're like, hey, you've been wanting us. [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to give you five matches that you know, five matches against five different teams. [SPEAKER_00]: You know what I mean? [SPEAKER_00]: And like, even this, you know what? [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure this trio's title match is going to be great. [SPEAKER_00]: Why do we need to see it again? [SPEAKER_00]: Like the swarve in the new level, beat them clean in the last match. [SPEAKER_00]: Three match men, they're gonna get their title shot again. [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I get it, I mean, it'll be great match. [SPEAKER_00]: But two out of three falls, like that match can go like 45 minutes. [SPEAKER_01]: It probably will because the main event is, but it's only gonna go like 25 minutes, right?
50:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Should I just skip the first two falls and watch the third? [SPEAKER_01]: No, I'll watch the whole match. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, I, you know, I should be more excited for it. [SPEAKER_00]: Um, there's just like, again, like, I've seen, I've been watching the most of the machine guns for 25 years. [SPEAKER_00]: I know there's a lot of great teams in A, W, and, uh, [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I want to see them against some of the other teams, you know, Mercedes. [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a banged up. [SPEAKER_01]: Mercedes gets tequila. [SPEAKER_01]: That one I'm fired up for. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I'm fired up for that one. [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm super intrigued by the eight men, you know, match. [SPEAKER_00]: I'm curious to see who's going to get eliminated. [SPEAKER_00]: Somebody's got to get eliminated in that first. [SPEAKER_00]: I think so too. [SPEAKER_00]: 18 minutes. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
51:17 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know who Rick Shaper would be. [SPEAKER_00]: Rick a Shayer Speedball. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: I think Speedball's got a pin-off spray. [SPEAKER_00]: And that boy. [SPEAKER_00]: That'd be interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and then you could do a speedball, Osprey, title match coming out out of that. [SPEAKER_00]: See, I've seen the argument and people that, you know, are super dialed in on booking and and are smart when it comes to booking decisions and whatnot of pointed out that, you know, this eight way, can you can use it to set up. [SPEAKER_00]: future title matches, and especially having the team tea champion and the international champion in there, you can set up, you know, it's kind of like the G1 where you know, when guys lose, but the problem is, is this is pay per view, and this should be the destination, not to set up for future matches in my opinion.
52:02 [SPEAKER_01]: But you'd have to tie them together, though, right? [SPEAKER_01]: You still have to create stories for them. [SPEAKER_01]: You just don't go, oh, speedball, pinned, aspirin, this wacky match, thus he gets a shot at the next, like you have to lay. [SPEAKER_00]: But that's what they're gonna do. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and that'll be, yeah, I mean, you know, maybe you do that on collision or something, but I just hope that they tell the actual stories so that it doesn't feel that way. [SPEAKER_01]: But we all sort of the box against Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher. [SPEAKER_00]: That one I'm really interested in. [SPEAKER_01]: The bloom is off the rose there because of Stephen Borden getting hurt in that one match, and so it's kind of like, allegedly this was the plan all along.
52:44 [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, I know. [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think that they were going to win, but it just like, you know, it just feels like there's a lot of it. [SPEAKER_01]: not call them anything man. [SPEAKER_01]: Okay. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't like any of these goofy AEW tag team names. [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry. [SPEAKER_01]: It's so bad. [SPEAKER_01]: It's like the J-Lo of nicknames, right? [SPEAKER_01]: Jennifer Lopez. [SPEAKER_01]: J-Lo. [SPEAKER_01]: Alex Rodriguez. [SPEAKER_00]: And the show is the worst tag team name that was ever invented and people think it's amazing. [SPEAKER_01]: the worst, but did they call mid-misen big show show miss show miss that's that's clever I like that one.
53:28 [SPEAKER_01]: I like that one, uh, uh, moxley and Mark Davis moxley got pinned. [SPEAKER_01]: He did the thing. [SPEAKER_01]: He did what moxley did the reverse thing. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right where he kind of made me think that he was looking at the referee's eyes and he wasn't he was just kind of in like a days and and so as I go shoot, he's about to get pinned right here in this match. [SPEAKER_00]: What do you think of that promo he did? [SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was weird. [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't watch collisions so I didn't see it. [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay, okay. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so he like he just they go to this interview and it's Renee. [SPEAKER_00]: And she's asked him a question and then he just gets all mad and he like picks up a charity throws it against the wall and he's freaking out and he's like all pissed off because he lost me and while the last week's promo he's like it doesn't wins and lots of don't matter here.
54:13 [SPEAKER_00]: And so he said last week, but you know why he said that because he didn't he's not the one that got beat. [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. [SPEAKER_00]: And this week he got beat and then Marina gets in his face and says we don't get we don't fight. [SPEAKER_00]: out of things we fight through them and then they they he looks at her and they walk away and then Renee just kind of looks at them as they're walking away. [SPEAKER_00]: It was it was just kind of weird. [SPEAKER_00]: I and I guess the subtext is is that he's more bothered by pox death than he's letting on, you know like in in story like since last week he was our two weeks ago he's all cracking jokes and you know like you know being all you know like you know Ra Ra let's go and now he's like it's actually [SPEAKER_00]: So I think there's a possibility he could lose, you know, and if they do, they've sure built up Mark Davis really well.
55:02 [SPEAKER_00]: I really, I thought that match was perfect on Monday, you know, like in terms of setting him up as a potential title, Challenger, and, you know, if the, if Davis is the guy that Mark, that Mox can't beat for whatever reason, that's kind of cool. [SPEAKER_00]: I like that. [SPEAKER_01]: You know, [SPEAKER_01]: They could have protected that pile driver better in future matches if Mox was just going to eat one and get pinned or in pass matches. [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, yeah, because how many people have kicked out of that pile driver? [SPEAKER_00]: It's already months ago, not many, but there have been a couple. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, that it's such a cool pile. [SPEAKER_01]: Every two. [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so cool. [SPEAKER_00]: Andrody and the last.
55:42 [SPEAKER_00]: I love you, I'm a yeah, under. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that'll be a that'll be a fun match, but we all know it's going to happen. [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, uh, maybe Dragon Off shows up at the end of that one and challenges on Droughty. [SPEAKER_00]: Dupy cool. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: Jerro Wayne Jericho versus Nick Wayne, the match, I, I, I don't care. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I, that segment they had on collision was so bad. [SPEAKER_00]: The crowd was dead and Ryan loved it. [SPEAKER_00]: Really? [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, it's Nick Wayne, you know, like, and it's Jericho. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, Dave loves Jericho and Brian Overs loves. [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I almost want you to watch it and tell me what you think, because it was bad.
56:25 [SPEAKER_00]: I, it was, and the crowd was just dead. [SPEAKER_00]: They were, they were mocking them. [SPEAKER_00]: They were like, [SPEAKER_00]: Hechling Jericho even though he's the baby face like and they were into everything on that show and they just did not care about these two at all So I'm and I Nick Wayne better win like that's all I got to say like Jericho can't win this match You already talked about the women's four way for the I think I'm an artist winning the title by the way That would cool me yeah, I know I know I just cheese the one that you know out of all four of them is Seems to be the one that they're pushing the hardest so [SPEAKER_00]: And then you think Samo Joe is going to kind of be the runner up in this match with the, yeah, I, that's the one, I mean, you know, I already said Bailey pins them, but I hope that they use this to set up a Joe Osprey match because he's the one guy that has been kind of focused on Osprey out of the seven of them, okay, so so far.
57:23 [SPEAKER_01]: we have seen Osprey in Okada and we've seen Osprey in Ricochet so they won't go back to those matches. [SPEAKER_01]: So we've actually seen Osprey in Samoa Joe recently too but that was a I think wasn't that a Owen Cup match. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and yeah, it was good. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and it was the first time they'd ever wrestled, and it was a dream match for both of them, or mostly for Osprey. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think Joe just every match of the dream match of the lines gets paid. [SPEAKER_01]: So you do have speed ball gets cash to you have Copeland you have to cash to and you have Darby as future future opponents for Osprey possibly. [SPEAKER_00]: I think with Darby and Okada, it's probably going to be more about setting up challenges for them as opposed to booking something for them against, I mean Darby and Osprey would be a huge match, and that could easily have on a paperview, it's a point, and Osprey does, he has been wrestling a lot of former champions or current champions.
58:24 [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, you know what, they could do, they could do Osprey, Darby at full gear. [SPEAKER_00]: What was the story with Christian? [SPEAKER_00]: Was Christian supposed to be in this match? [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know. [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no. [SPEAKER_00]: Jay White was supposed to be in this match. [SPEAKER_00]: Jay White was supposed to be in Copeland took his place. [SPEAKER_00]: I would imagine that maybe Copeland cage. [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to wrestle Darby and Steve maybe. [SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know, like, yeah, I never heard what coping cage or, you know, yeah, you kind of curious, like what would they have been? [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe like a three way with FTR and the machine guns. [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe, you know, I could see that. [SPEAKER_00]: They kind of seem tied to those guys.
59:05 [SPEAKER_00]: But, or maybe even just motors to the machine guns. [SPEAKER_00]: Like, to me that would have been more interesting. [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know for some reason, I feel like I've seen FTR and motors to the machine guns a lot, even though I bet you they've never wrestled, but it just feels like a match I've probably seen before. [SPEAKER_01]: because they both been around forever. [SPEAKER_01]: All right. [SPEAKER_01]: You did, down in my show last night, so folks, if they haven't listened to that, they can listen to that. [SPEAKER_01]: I also did a fight game podcast with Keela Cash last night. [SPEAKER_00]: That's a good show, I haven't quite finished it yet, but I really enjoyed it. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Keela is so fun to talk to. [SPEAKER_01]: And then Saturday, after the pay preview, Jeremy and I will be back to talk Russell Dream, and then I gotta do that same show with Dave later today.
59:47 [SPEAKER_00]: And so yeah, we'll have some more content if I if I was able to finish the show and time I would I would volunteer to do the the fight game one or you know instead of you and then give you a break, but I get my fluent coach out that they feel yeah. [SPEAKER_01]: All right, so and then we'll be back next week we've been playing around with Tuesday and Thursday and I think I like it because my schedule with the with the Valkyries is kind of crazy right now. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, having the flexibility to go on either Tuesday night or Thursday and Thursday we can go earlier if we moved to Thursday too. [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, I'm playing with those days because of the other shows that I am hosting the Valkyries, Kelen, I talked about this last night, the Valkyries in the Atlanta dream or in the WMB finals, and I'm actually going to try to go to Monday night's game.
1:00:40 [SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I just have a little bit of an extra, you'll be able to get media credit. [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if I want to do it though. [SPEAKER_01]: Like, you want it so fan? [SPEAKER_01]: Well, no, it's not that. [SPEAKER_01]: It's just, there's, there's so much expectation as far as time. [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't really live near San Francisco. [SPEAKER_01]: Got you. [SPEAKER_01]: It becomes, you know, it becomes a, yeah, yeah, you're a staff. [SPEAKER_00]: I remember from when I went there. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you're a lot further away than I would have thought. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. [SPEAKER_00]: So, but okay, but that's that's that's that's that's super awesome for you. [SPEAKER_00]: Like I'm I'm full into hockey right now because the jets are actually doing really well. [SPEAKER_00]: So. [SPEAKER_00]: Alrighty. [SPEAKER_00]: That'll be it from here. [SPEAKER_00]: So for Paul. [SPEAKER_01]: I am double G. We'll see when we see you piece out.
