WWE WrestleMania 42 Night 1 Live Results: Rhodes vs. Orton and Full Match Updates

I haven't done this in a little while, so my fingers might be a little rusty. But since I'm doing our WWE Live Postgame Show tonight with Jeremy Finestone and Jeff Hawkins, I figured I'd write my thoughts about the show as it's on going. I'll update this every few minutes, so if you're not watching the Saturday's night of WrestleMania 42, I'll have you covered. By the way, I'm still not used to this two night WrestleMania and they've been doing it for a few years now. Make sure you notify yourself of when we go live on YouTube after this show is over.
Lin-Manuel Miranda opened the show with a video package about WrestleMania and unless they're doing a WWE version of Hamilton, it seems like a waste of his talent.
John Cena is out in his pinstriped suit. His suit should've been jorts colored. Cena himself didn't say much. However, it's getting a little Ucey in here.
The Usos & LA Knight Vs. Austin Theory, Logan Paul, & IShowSpeed
- Speed decided that after all of this, the first thing he should do is put a side-headlock on LA Knight. Not great strategy there kid.
- What do we think of Jey Uso's title run? Success? Failure? If he didn't get tired so early, would he still be in the mix? Or is he just not a good enough single's wrestler? I'm still Team Jey, but I wonder how we'll look at it in a few years. He beat Gunther of all people at this time last year.
- Weird flow to this match so far. Jey gave Theory a spear, Logan interfered, then Jimmy interfered, and all of a sudden, Theory was beating on Jey.
- Speed got out of the way of the BFT and pushed Knight into Logan Paul, which pissed off Theory. Theory isn't too bright. Theory was so mad that he grabbed Knight and told Speed to hit the ropes and beat up Knight, only for Knight to push Theory into Speed. Then he hit the BFT on Theory to win the match.
- Paul turned on Speed, gave him the big right hand, and threw him out of the ring. The Usos saved him by hitting the 1-D on Paul and then Knight held Paul down on the announcer's table so that Speed could hit a big splash off the top of the ring post and through the table. That didn't look fun for either guy.

- So I guess Speed is redeemed. Maybe they just want to be on his stream.
There was a long commercial break before we came back to George Kittle stealing Tyrese Halliburton's beer and then chugging it. And then Stephen A. Smith was on the screen. Maybe Stephen A. can get Andreas Hale on his show to talk about why WWE didn't credential him.
Jacob Fatu Vs. Drew McIntyre
- They both got giant WrestleMania entrances for their "unsanctioned" match which is another name for a no DQ match.
- The match started on the outside. Drew came out with a sword, which I guess is technically legal in an unsanctioned match, though if I was Fatu, I would've put in the contract that everything goes except that.
- They brought the outside into the ring. There's chairs, a tool box, and a table in there.
- Drew did a bad ass flip dove over the top rope. Fatu did a bad ass moonsault which Drew kicked out of. They're going for it to close out the ESPN 2 portion of WrestleMania.
- Drew tried to dig out Fatu's eye ball with a wrench. I don't think that's what a wrench is for.
- Fatu kicked out of a Claymore to set up whatever the finish of this match is.
- Fatu had McIntyre on a table inside the ring to possible do his moonsault on him through the table, but McIntyre pushed him off the top rope and onto a table on the outside.
- Fatu wasn't hurt all that much because quickly, he put Drew back on the table and did his moonsault to get the win. Really fun match and great setup for the post-WrestleMania 2026 for Jacob.
Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss Vs. Bayley & Lyra Valkyria Vs. The Irresistible Forces Vs. The Bellas
- Nikki Bella was wearing a walking boot and introduced the return of Paige to take her spot.
- These are Fatal Four-Way rules so one member of each team can be in the ring at all times.
- Paige is over with this crowd. Everything she does is getting a reaction and it's hard for the others to get a reaction.
- The ring cleared for Charlotte and Paige going one-on-one which the crowd popped for.
- Charlotte hit Paige with the Natural Selection and then tagged in Alexa. Nikki hit Charlotte with the crutch which distracted Bliss. Paige got her knees up on the Twisted Bliss, hit the Rampaige and won the titles for her and Brie.
The Mandalorian and Grogu were in the crowd. George Kittle stole Grogu's beer too.
They announced The Wonder Years. I thought we were getting Winnie Cooper, but instead, I guess it's the band that performs Becky Lynch's theme song.
Becky Lynch Vs. AJ Lee

- Angle alert: Jessika Carr is the referee for this match. I imagine shenanigans are about to ensue.
- AJ Lee is such a fantastic babyface. She's a fantastic character. I hope she stepped up her wrestling training for this match tonight.
- AJ kicked out of a Manhandle Slam, but we knew that was going to happen because no real shenanigans have happened yet.
- I spoke too soon. Carr and Lynch went nose-to-nose and then Becky went after her, but Carr ducked and AJ hit a very bad Manhandle Slam for a two count.
- Becky took off the top turnbuckle, AJ rushed at her, Becky pulled the ref in front of her and when the ref was out of the way, she rammed AJ's head into the steel and then hit the Manhandle Slam to win the match.
Gunther Vs. Seth Rollins
- Gunther kicked Seth right in the throat to jump start the match. Seth barely got his jacket off, which was literally smoking.
- Michael Cole and Wade Barrett keep talking like this is a fight and not a five star classic, but it's the best thing on the show so far.
- Seth's chest is beat red and looks like hell from all of the frying pan hands chops from Gunther.
- Gunther locked in a rear naked choke that Seth got out of. They traded clotheslines, with Seth taking the rost of it but he got up quickly to catch Gunther who went to the top rope and hit him with a superplex which lead into a falcon arrow for a two count.
- Rollins did three dives to the outside, but Gunther caught him on the third went and gave him two straight powerbombs and went for a third on the announcer's table which Seth turned into a pedigree. He then gave Gunther a stomp, running from one of the announcer's tables to the other.
- Bron Breakker sprinted to spear Rollins and then Gunther put the rear naked choke back on him and Seth went out.
And then we got this.
GREATEST SPEAR OF ALL TIME!!!
