-----
Steve Garcia Vs. Diego Lopes
Great opening round for Garcia. He kept his jab out there even if he wasn't always throwing it and his feints and movement seemed to keep Lopes off-balanced. He was pushing Lopes backward constantly with his awkward movements. Lopes didn't let his hands go.
Lopes ended it in the second round and quickly. Garcia's style was still bothering him early, but Lopez landed a shot that buckled Garcia and he staggered backward. It gave Lopes all the willingness to strike while the iron was hot and landed several more shots right on the chin and knocked Garcia down. Left hook sent Garcia down to a knee and another left hook that followed that a right sent him to the ground. Lopez finished with with punches on the ground.
Winner: Diego Lopes by 2nd round KO
Kyle Daukaus Vs. Bo Nickal
Nickal got him out of there early. He scored a takedown early on and Daukaus couldn't get up, but they were stood up by the referee. Nickal missed a front kick, but then landed a left-right combo and put Daukaus down before he finished him with punches on the ground.
Winner: Bo Nickal by 1st round TKO
Michael Chandler Vs. Maurício Ruffy
That was just as much of a blowout as most of the predictions. Chandler did more running than anything during the fight. He scored one takedown, but otherwise, just took abuse during the exchanges. He slipped a couple times going backward. The fight ended by him taking a wheel kick to the head, taking a knee, and then taking shots until the referee stopped it. Ruffy is for real, but this wasn't much of a test for him.
Winner: Maurício Ruffy by 1st round TKO
Derrick Lewis Vs. Josh Hokit
The first round was all Hokit. His athleticism was very apparent. Lewis stayed solid, but the second he tried something, he was taken down and half of the round was spent with him on his back without a real urgency to get back up. Hokit had an armbar on at the end of the round, but didn't seem too know exactly how to submit him.
Lewis stuffed a takedown to start the round and showed a few seconds of fire. Hokit countered with some nice shots that made Lewis go backward. Lewis was noticeably tired and moving in slow motion. He was taking tons of punishment but didn't go down until finally Hokit knocked him down. Herb Dean gave Lewis all the chance to fight back from his back, but Lewis wasn't going to do so and probably took some unnecessary punishment at the end.
Winner: Josh Hokit by 2nd round TKO
Aiemann Zahabi Vs. Sean O'Malley
The first round was mostly an inactive round until about the last 20 seconds when O'Malley did his best work. Had he not, he might've lost the round do to a couple of inside leg kicks.
Zahabi was effective with leg kicks and had tremendous accuracy with them. O'Malley would throw a punch and like clockwork, Zahabi would land a low leg kick. O'Malley finally timed him. He landed a straight left that knocked Zahabi down and then a right hand put him down again and the fight was called off. Might've been a tad early on the stoppage.
Winner: Sean O'Malley by 2nd round TKO
Ciryl Gane Vs. Alex Pereira
Gane won round one, though Pereira got people excited late in the round. Gane landed a few punches flush on Pereira's face. Pereira ate the well. Pereira was patient, trying to land the high kick. Gane feinted takedowns to make him think about it.
Gane ended the show very quickly in round two. Gane landed a short right that dropped him and then it was a myriad of shots that Pereira ate before Herb Dean finally stopped it.
Winner: Ciril Gane by 2nd round TKO
Justin Gaethje Vs. Ilia Topuria
The first round was the best round of the night so far. Both guys landed big shot after big shot; Gaethje using a takedown attempt to land uppercuts while Topuria's best shots were the straight and overhand right. It was Gaethje's round until the last 30 seconds or so of the round when Topuria pushed him back toward the cage and was digging to the body. Gaethje used his legs to keep Topuria away, but it was a little reckless. I have Topuria winning a close first.
Topuria finally chopped down the tree with nasty body shots. Gaethje was up against the cage taking body shot after body shot and when he finally was able to cover up, he ate a left hook to the head. They went to the ground and Topuria went for submissions, but it just allowed Gaethje to recover since he didn't get it. Should've probably kept striking. Great round for Topuria.
The third round was all Gaethje. He nearly knocked Topuria out with a jab and right hand combination that Topuria didn't seem to see coming. They went to the ground but Gaethje didn't really have anything, which kind of stalled his momentum. Back on the feet, Gaethje continued landing the bigger shots and Topuria's eyes were blackened and he looked like a raccoon.
Before the fourth round started, it looked like the doctor was going to stop the fight, but he continued to test him after it was already time to start the round. Topuria's face looks like death. Gaethje continued to press the action and Topuria kept eating shots. Topuria showed a ton of toughness by staying in there and landing shots of his own. At one point in the round, the punches landed were even. Right at the end of the round with both men on all fours after Gaethje stopped a takedown attempt, Gaethje threw a wicked knee to the ribs. The corner stopped the fight and Gaethje is the winner.
Winner: Justin Gaethje by 4th round TKO (corner stoppage)
