WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Notes

WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Notes

We'll be keeping track of all the information that comes out of WWE's kickoff media event from Las Vegas.

Later tonight, at 9PM Pacific, Paul Fontaine and I will go live on the Fight Game Media Network YouTube channel with our thoughts on the event. Full audio will be up on the website shortly thereafter.

We'll be back shortly once the event begins and will be updating every few minutes, so check back in often!

------------------------------------------------------------------

Michael Cole, Pat McAfee, Big E, and CM Punk are at desk to host the show.

They all set the table for the event. Big E was on the Cody side of things. Punk tried to talk about the top stars in the mix and compared it to football.

Byron Saxton interviewed Paul Heyman.

  • Saxton asked him about Roman Reigns' mood. Heyman said it's no different than it has been.
  • He said until someone beats Roman Reigns, the main event of WrestleMania is to be.

They announced that WWE Speed will broadcast on X in the spring.

Michael Cole introduced Triple H.

Triple H started to talk about the history of the first WrestleMania. And WWE's ascension in media via closed circuit, PPV, and streaming.

He called it a new era and all new WWE.

Bianca Belair was next.

She talked about facing Sasha Banks at WrestleMania 37 and Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 38 and the difference this year is that she isn't a champion.

Rhea Ripley was next. It didn't surprise her that Bayley would turn on her friends and challenge IYO instead of Rhea because she'd just lose. Once she's done dealing with Nia Jax at Elimination Chamber in Perth, Australia, she'll be ready for whoever wins the Eliminator Chamber.

Becky's music interrupted her. Becky said she's going to win the Eliminated Chamber to face Rhea at WrestleMania and it will be Mami vs. The Man. They ended in a face-off before Adam Pearce broke it up.

Seth Rollins was next. He mentioned Cody Rhodes and instead, Roman Reigns' music started to play. Roman came out and it was almost as long as it usually takes for him to walk to the ring before he asked the crowd to acknowledge him.

He starts talking about Cody as someone who hesitates and can't make a decision. He said it's no longer Cody's decision. It's his. Roman says he's choosing who faces him at WrestleMania. Roman said he chooses The Rock.

The Rock's music played. Rock came out to a mixed reaction, but more boos than cheers it sounded.

The Rock asked if the fans thought Roman would beat him at WrestleMania. The fans started to change, "We Want Cody," but there was a small contingent of the fans who responded with, "Cody sucks."

He welcomed the fans, the media, and the Cody crybabies. The crowd started "What" chanting him.

The Rock threw to a large graphic of the actual Bloodline aka the Samoan Dynasty Family Tree.

The Rock said it's the biggest main event in the history of professional wrestling and it'd bound by blood. He stuck his hand out to shake Roman's and they hugged.

Cody came out and said to hold on. He called it bullshit. Cody said he won the Royal Rumble and he has made his decision. He wants Roman Reigns. Roman says he must be crazy and stupid. No one cares about him finishing the story and he's embarrassing his family. He said he's irrelevant just like his dad. Cody said if his grandfather was here, they'd be ashamed of him.

The Rock stepped up to him. He said if you're talking about Roman's family, you're talking about his family and now they have a problem. Then he slapped Cody right in the face. Seth was pissed and so was Cody.

The hosts didn't really know what was going on except for chaos.

Triple H was in the back with Jackie Redmond and stared down the Rock who told him that he needs to fix it. He said that's what happens when Cody talks s**t about his family again.
